MDA vs. MDMA

Way back in the day (I'm getting on little bit now) batch of pills hit the UK, they were unstamped, fairly small but quite deep, everyone called them Snowballs. I hadnt done a hug amount of MDMA at that time as I;d been more into acid but times were changing and I found acid a bit much at the type of dity warehouse parties I was going to.

Loved thise pills, but you had to make youself get up and dance or you could end up on the floor all night (bit of speed helped) such hyerreal halluncinatons, sunshine shining through brickwork, spaceships hovering over crowds and the only time I've a truley shared hallucination when my partner and I watchdd ducks swimming around on the warehouse floor. They were around for a while and then nevef again.

As I understdn it thise pills were manufactured in a proper manaufacturing facilty in the eastern block, 200mg of pur MDA, no wonder we were all so fucked up.

I really like MDA but it more 'trippy; and messed up than MDMA at normal doses and if you want to dance on it you have to make an effort to get going. I did see people get parnoid or uncomfortable on it , I think that was where they took a whole one of those pills with little experinace of MDMA let alone acid
 
High doses of MDA made me extremely sensitive to sounds and lights. Tried to work on loading docks but hallucinations got the best of me, the inner workings of the great machine, conveyer belts and sorters won that battle.

MDA in the 1970s was white powder or maybe crystal form.

Which psychedelic does MDA most resemble?


It—everything I see—looks like it sounded, like the inside of a tremendous dam. Huge brass tubes disappear upward in the dark. Wires run to transformers out of sight. Grease and cinders catch on everything, staining the couplings and motors and dynamos red and coal black.

The workers all move at the same smooth sprint, an easy, fluid stride. No one’s in a hurry. One will hold up a second, spin a dial, push a button, throw a switch, and one side of his face flashes white like lightning from the spark of the connecting switch, and run on, up steel steps and along a corrugated iron catwalk—pass each other so smooth and close I hear the slap of wet sides like the slap of a salmon’s tail on water—stop again, throw lightning from another switch, and run on again.

They twinkle in all directions clean on out of sight, these flash pictures of the dreamy doll faces of the workmen. A workman’s eyes snap shut while he’s going at full run, and he drops in his tracks; two of his buddies running by grab him up and lateral him into a furnace as they pass.
The furnace whoops a ball of fire and I hear the popping of a million tubes like walking through a field of seed pods. This sound mixes with the whirr and clang of the rest of the machines. There’s a rhythm to it, like a thundering pulse.

The dorm floor slides on out of the shaft and into the machine room. Right away I see what’s straight above us—one of those trestle affairs like you find in meat houses, rollers on tracks to move carcasses from the cooler to the butcher without much lifting. Two guys in slacks, white shirts with the sleeves turned back, and thin black ties are leaning on the catwalk above our beds, gesturing to each other as they talk, cigarettes in long holders tracing lines of red light. They’re talking but you can’t make out the words above the measured roar rising all around them.

There seems to be a discrepancy about whether or not some of these amphetamines are psychedelic enough to be considered psychedelics. So, I just sent out the following email to DoubleBlind.


I saw that one of you guys interviewed Rhoney Gissen Stanley.

I recall reading in an article about a Connie Littlefield documentary that she made a dismissive comment about it and said "it's an amphetamine". I also recall reading a quote from James Fadiman, "MDMA is not a psychedelic."

Could you guys explore this discrepancy?

And there's also this:

I used MDA, when it was aroud and MDMA quite heavily for more than a decade, at least every 2 week often every week. This use wss almost exclusivly in a 'rave' enviroment and was fully emersed in that scene. I also took amphetamine suplhate with the MDMA.

I'm certain that taking those drugs and dancing to that music with all those othr people often until 12pm the following day massively contributed to my experiance. I have taken LCD a good number of times and a few times quite a significant dose so I have some comparison.

Putting the whole MDA / MDMA to one side since none of these drags were tested, I can say I had many profound experiances, the feeling of being part of a connected conciousness was life changing. From a visual point of view, the sense of Hyper Real where everthing ijust felt soem much more rdeal on a level I (obvioiusly) can't descibe.
Seeing things that simple arent there at all including people, more than once I saw sunlight pouring through the gaps in the bricks on ware house walls as it got light.

I would have been taking something like 3-400mg over a 12hr period, my dosing did escalate but it was low compared to many people ariund me. I carry a bit of an ongoing use of amphetamines but no longer take MDMA (or at least it has been rare) and hte experiance isnt really comparible IMHO
 
How would you compare MD-type amphetamines to standard amphetamines? Do you use amphetamines these days? Why don't you use MDx anymore?

Can you elaborate more on how they compare to LSD?

I've only tried low dose MDMA once and would compare the effect to a benzo. LSD, by contrast, gives me no mood boost, in fact, I usually feel worse after taking it.
 
mda gave me crazy closed eye visuals that made me feel like i was sinking into my body, and felt like less of a weird body high than mdma or shrooms even... i did not get any visuals on mdma and it was a super weird body high that i couldn't really appreciate. i don't think i took enough to even feel uncomfortable.. the wave of feeling i get all over my body from mdma just wasn't great for me... mda was alright. i got a tolerance from it super fast.. although it was months later between my doses, i think mdma tolerance i had may've been dulled by the mda i took. i did a few rolls over the course of two years probably less time than that even... i dunno, never really got into either of them. i'd probably just do shrooms... if mda didn't have such tolerance issues that lasted months and it were cheap, i'd definitely take it.
 
Iv’d MDA nodded out for period of time. Closed eye visuals, bodily hallucinations. When I snorted MDA which was often, light sensitivity, wavy patterns no leaping trees or moving sidewalks like LSD. Feelings of contentment, musically profound.
Brother & I would meet (trip together) in the middle getting high and low, natural occurrence going up and down the psyche scale. I love my mind.

Once had cut MDMA with MDA, a good dose added.
As the MDMA was was metabolised, a part in MDA !

The MDA presence became very apparent, it was misty.
But for me its most 4 typical things that occurred:
smoke from unlit joint s/ cigarette s
Floating black hair dots,
Ziggy stardust make up on every ones face, even on my walls.
And weird occurrences that fit under ghost activity.

And all shared hallucinations. And its not stimulating,
neither is MDMA to me. But it was way different, zoned out.
