Weed has gotten several times stronger over the past 50 years. What are your thoughts?

To me it just means I can take one or two puffs and be high. And I went many years smoking the Mexican or Colombian Brown with seeds. And I honestly don’t miss it.

I admit I stick to flowers. Concentrate are very strong. And I do find the flower plenty strong. I have tended to stay away from concentrates only because I’m all about keeping tolerance low. Every once in a while, I will have one hit of a dab.

To meet stronger weed means I can take less smoke into my lungs. That has to be much healthier than smoking an entire joint by myself.

everyone would be moaning like fuck if it was too weak, that's for sure

just have a couple of tokes and see where you're at....I love that you don't need to consume much to get high personally
 
Just as i've previously explained, there's a ceiling limit to how "strong" a genetic can get, while the ways to denature and render cannabis vile have multiplied, starting with cannabinoïd ratios exactly. So, before the so-called « légaleezation » we had to deal with clandestinity artificially causing damage which only gave bigot prohibitionists a few stronger arguments based on ignorance & fear simply not applying to alcohol. Back then one could claim that unethical dealers "fidelized" vulnerable teens by exacerbating their attraction to a dependency spiral where dosing abuse is king, without any adapted consumption method to help... Today "legal" monopoly stores in my $a¢rifi¢ed province have replaced those predators, only targeting adults aged 21+ because that gives this government creature some aura of sanctity. Still focussed on THC-centric genetics, plus the addition of buzz-denying 1THC:1CBD genetics labelled as "balanced", and Full-CBD to please abstentionists-addictionnists posing as disciples of mother Theresa. Which means the very same void zone of 2:1 THC:CBD genetics gets actively perpetuated as a blockade to health-wise alternatives based on personal CHOICE. Meanwhile over-billing also got punitive hyppocrite over-taxing added on top of it, for society's own "safety" presumably. Though the net effect was actually to create yet another grey market exploiting economic imbalances at the borders, directly aimed at our youth who live with the internet in their pocket and don't feel like they miss a captive monopoly market where the consumers themselves have been turned into a jui¢y product. Parallel to this the vilification goes on without gate kleepers watching, in fact Health Canada added a NON-DETECTION concept to its list of "sanitary" additives many years ago, leading to an astronomical number of signatures potentially formulated to repel insects with sensitive antennas but pass "testing" just fine, now allowing myclobutanil "traces" where it was plain banned before, a compound which when heated produces hydrogen cyanide, better know in nazi extermination chambers as Zyklon-B, a Level-3 item of the Chemical Weapons Convention. All in absence of long-term studies on the cocktail effect that would be designed to really protect future generations, of course...

The reason people think there's no difference between Sativa and Indica is that most all or all dispensary weed is mostly Indica. Much of it is lied about and the stuff that is actually a fair amount of Sativa has had the Sativa high bred out of it. That's also at least part of the reason that everyone thinks weed is stronger now. It is indeed easier to always find strong weed as opposed to searching for it, but that heavy Indica high is a big factor in that as well.

I don't know why it took me so long to figure out. Sativa has always been harder to grow and fetched much higher prices when grown indoors (or temperate America). So, of course when weed became big business they went to the cheapest production and deceptive labeling to try to turn the biggest profit. Sativa became a marketing ploy, the victim of the American way of taking something good, painting it's face, and putting it out on the street to make a buck.

Yes, with dispensary weed nowadays there is little difference between Sativa and Indica. Does not mean there is no difference between Sativa and Indica. It's just like so many other things, a victim of corporate greed. It's always been uber hard to breed a real Sativa high into pot and still retain fast production and cosmetics, and Indica highs will always feel stronger.
 
Most thc is hybred 50/50 or 70/30 from my experience in the past five years of a lifetime t of strains. A few times had 80/20

I like that I don’t have to inhale as much

Is all cbd cannabis is supposed to be all sativa ?
 
yeah i would also say most flower these days seems more a hybrid... every once in awhile i'll see some indica leaners (like bubba kush), maybe some kinda sativa leaners (like super silver haze or jack herer, both of which i'm pretty sure are closer to 50/50 hybrids than they are to pure sativas)...

but it's almost all commercial hybrids.

i got some acapulco gold and some panama red recently, but even those have almost assuredly been hybridized for the market.
 
^Right I got "Maui wowie 2.0" which clearly implies a genetic change. Purple Haze never seen acupulco gold I have but suspect it is hybridized. I see how if you are looking for a straight sativa you may be a bit bummed. I never put awhole lot into "indica/sativa" as the blackmarket and ppl say whatever is clever to sell a bag haha
 
There may be other factors at play to what I’m about to say, including my age (23 and started cannabis at 13), and the effects of chronic drug use and worsening mental health…

But…

The weed I used to get as a kid was fucking magical, outstanding, strong but balanced, really pleasant, and only if we had Hash it really lived to the myth of being very body high.. and stoning..

Then all of a sudden, flavours hit the scene and weed just started to mind fuck me on such a crazy level.

I use to smoke lots and lots, and would just get progressively mongy and fried.. sometimes some visual changes but nothing drastic..

Then either my mindstate or the “modern” weed starts making my mind race a million fucking miles per hour, my heart beating and palpating like fuck.. and sometimes getting pretty strong visual distortions even before I fucked about with LSD..

And ever since it’s largely been the same, but I’ve had organic home grown bottom bag that was really like how it was when I was a kid.

I’ve poorly replicated it with full spectrum cbd blunts with dusting of flavour, but it’s still so easy for me to then get the initial huge rush of DPDR like symptoms, and fucking mind racing.

As said before with other factors I have ADHD and EUPD, and fucked myself up wack a do with drugs as a kid. So it may be fair to just say it’s me not the weed,

But I’ve had some home grow stuff that seemed to be more full spectrum, not just containing everything, but having a relevant amount of it all.

My bias is that “proper cannabis” isn’t high THC, and very well rounded and has similar levels of however 300 fucking compounds in it.

I think the modern stuff is bastardised and grown to sell more as it will proper get people fucked. I presume what most care about now
 
yeah the thc levels are higher, that's demonstrable and probably contributes to the 'psychosis' stuff some people experience (ie latent psychosis becoming triggered)

It's like an lsd trip? I just cannot see that at all, I've had stupid high thc doses and , while trippy and overwhelming, feels fuck all like any lsd I've ever had

Ok it's stronger yeah. So, in that knowledge adapt accordingly. Make a single skinner blunt from flower if smoking alone, say 0.25g flower in it. Have 3 or 4 tokes, put it out and see where you're at for the next 15/20 minutes and then redose accordingly.

I always have good 40mg or so cbd oil sublingually thesedays 20 minutes or so before smoking, and then smoke say 100mg flower at most and go from there. If taking edibles I tend to make my own and try to aim for 25mg thc (based on decent weed usually being 20-25% thc) and also take cbd with it. Never had a single issue with doses like that (I do have some tolerance though)

So, smoke less and see where you're at. Take some cbd beforehand. I doubt weed is gonna start to get less strong, so time to act accordingly

I haven't bought weed in over seven years. I grow my own & make my own edibles-- usually peanut butter cookies.
I like knowing exactly what I'm consuming.
 
I can't even smoke after 5-7 days of smoking weed because my lungs are probably full of cannabinoid resins and things in smoke....I cough like a crazy when i try to take small hit. Need to wait 2 weeks and than my lungs will be ok again.

^This -- If you have latent psychosis it can be triggered and (I presume) made worse --- truth is that was prolly going to manifest at some point anyways though.

Welltram -- That is crazy daily smoker since 14 and the weed is stronger but also smoother and easier on the lungs than ever. (dab hits aside) I am not saying that you are incorrect as how tf would I know -- But I will point out cannabis resin is not the same nor nearly as harmful as tobacco tar so forget the whole "1 joint = 6 cigarettes" line.

When I was growing up in the 90s you couldn't get weed where i stayed only hash which no one seems to smoke anymore .I miss the smell of hash and quite frankly find the smell of weed a bit sickly now although it was a novelty to begin with .rarest of all was squidgy black which you could roll into the joint .the art of joint making seems to have disappeared as well ,before you rolled a three skinner with normal papers now it seems everyone smokes them in one oversized skin.the weed I have smoked on occasion is very strong but has less paranoid after effects but I much prefer hash.
 
^That is kind of a valid complaint about if you can only smoke once every couple weeks its not gunna hit the same as the old brick. I still say buy the shake that is like 50 a zip with a 12% THC content and you could recreate the ballpark? Try something CBD and shoot what does THC degrade into again (?) as back in the day we were getting old weed that been sitting around down south in the sun for a minute.

lost weekend -- "Black Hash" IME that is either QWISO (Iso wash), bubble hash, or temple ball --- any idea which? QWISO probably most likely but I can't say I ever loved the smell of it --- than again I love the smell of pot - even before I knew what is was. "Is that one of the good smelling cigarettes" Parents look at each other confused (I was like 3 lol)

Temple ball and bubble hash are available at the local dispo -- I don't think anyone really makes QWISO anymore for "Market" more just an 'here is what I have laying around and what I can do with it easiest' situation I think

Im not sure, was and still no expert on strains /types ,it was whetever you got your hands on.my college/training centre was the source,and the hash was scored and cut using a lighter and sharp knife while the tutor was out the room lol then divided up in scores or half scores as we used to call them .I never got any black stuff from college it was always someone older who had it .thinking back out of a class of 12 more than half smoked/bought and we were always stoned in class .we used a pipe in the toilets during lessons

One guy even was brazen enough to smoke what was left of a joint out the fire exit door [the tutors used to dissappear for long periods of time] he was caught ,joint seized but nothing came of it as the college was worried about the impact it might have on them

Just as a side note we just came back from Thailand in May and I see the government are banning recreational use of cannibas .Good luck with that ,patong beach has a weed stall every 50 yards .they were selling mushrooms there 2 years ago but government must have clamped down cos there was no sign of any shrooms and every stall /shop had them
