Good YouTube/etc Channels worth watching

Big Tugg is a funny chap. He mostly does breathlessly-paced explainers/rants about various random topics.

Personally I find him very endearing and pretty fukkin funny :)

Who the hell is this guy? This is the way I think about stuff. I have missed this guy till today but I am gonna make up for that.

This is 100% Truth.

Good shout, Z! Myself and Sadie came across him a year or two back when he was a lot smaller as a channel. He’s really blown up since then and is one of the few big (pun fully intended) channels we watch regularly. Enjoy!

^ Kinda funny, kinda boomerish, as such undecided so I’ll delve deeper :)

ThorHighHeels is probably my favourite video game YouTuber. They do video essays on a mixture of retro and modern games and have a truly unique take on things.

Brilliantly edited, very funny and - and this is kinda weird - they speak rather similar to the way I typed back in the day. To the point I actually wondered whether they were an EADDer… but they seem far too young for that so guess it’s purely coincidental.

Anyway, comes very highly recommended if you’re into video game content ❤️

Continuing my gaming recs, this is Octavius King. They focus exclusively on retro content… specifically on bad retro content. The editing is on point and the subjects are rarely covered by other retro channels. Good stuff!

PS: “Octavius” is a character played by the owner of this channel. Expect high cynicism and irony =D

Whilst I’m at the gaming YouTuber stuff, I’d be remiss to not mention…

PatnanQC sadly passed away a couple weeks back but leaves behind a treasure trove of (mostly) arcade retrospectives that are well worth delving into.

This was a unique individual who became a quadriplegic later in life due to a meningitis infection. Despite this very significant issue of basic practicality, he relearned and adapted to continue gaming… and is, frankly, often better than I - an able-bodied chap - am at classic arcade games ><

RIP ❤️

Criminolly.

A book channel (booktube) English guy who talks about "crime, pulp, horror, that kind of thing."

A very likeable character who has a passion for his passion. And turning it into a succesful booktube channel saved him from the demon drink.

His reviews provide great context and background, for instance reminding me how ground breaking James Herbert's The Rats was at the time, and was perhaps the first English Punk Rock horror book. I get what he means by that, and is a very apt description. Not just because if the timing of it's release, but it was a kick up the arse to the establishment, and all raw and edgy, and pushing the boundaries. I had read it years and years ago, but I fairly recently enjoyed the re-read (or re-listen on audio book) very much, after watching Ollie's review.

He's kind of an anti-snob really, when it comes to books, which is a refreshing angle to view things from imho. There's enough people already covering the more high brow stuff, the classics and all of that.
