US Politics the 2025 trump presidency thread

Sounds like the kind of problem a good nights rest, some electrolytes, and an oxazepam would do wonders for.

Leftist boogeymen are everywhere. It’s hard to get any rest with such types about. Best to report them when seen.
the democrats under Obama deported more illegal immigrants than any other administration in history. You could even say deporting illegal immigrants is better and more effectively done by democrats than republicans. With no need for the suspension of due process. But what do I know?

I just stand around here with my dick in my hand talking like because I’m a republican my viewpoint is important. Or maybe my viewpoint is important because I’m a man. I forget why but my point of view is important.

and David Hogg have all made some strong individual efforts as the signs of new leadership...
Oh please. That kid needs to shut his stupid mouth before he runs the whole party into the ground. He is the epitome of why a person like myself has not voted Democrat in four years. His whole platform is a demand to create a modern (even greater?) police state under an authoritarian congress that caters to people who are too scared of life itself to realize that danger is a part of every day existance.

Seriously, they need to run his ass off. A bunch of the Gen Z crowd run on two or three issues that 80% of the public care nothing for. They are completely out of touch with reality and what it means to be a functional adult that actually contributes to society.

we already have a police state, we're living in it

I mean, something needs to change.

Frankly, AOC is the person I am most inspired by.

For president? He needs to win against cuomo in their election first and demonstrate what he's about before I'd consider him a realistic contender.

That said, he seems like a promising up and comer
yea I wasn't necessarily thinking about presidential candidates but rather inspiring politicians who seem dedicated to fighting for their constituents. I think AOC endorsed him for mayor too, early turnout primary voting in his door knocking districts has been monstrous and he has a bit of a lead in the latest poll

suggesting mamdani is a communist misrepresents his political identity.

mamdani openly identifies as a democratic socialist - a position that emphasizes working within democratic institutions to expand social programs and public services, not the abolition of private property or establishment of a one-party state, the main hallmarks of communism.

his policy proposals (e.g. rent freezes and free public transit) are rooted in a long tradition of social democratic reforms seen in many western democracies.

far from advocating for a communist revolution, mamdani’s agenda reflects a commitment to economic equity and civic participation within a pluralistic, democratic framework.

tl;dr he's not a communist.

Agree. Voting age should be raised.

I’d also support a net worth requirement to be able to register for voting but that’s a separate discussion. Someone in a bunch of consumer debt who can’t even show you $25k in liquidity (plus or minus depending on location, I’m being stupendously generous with this number) should get zero say on anything economy related; which is the REAL issue the average person who doesn’t post on politics forums cares about. Not saying we go full blown medieval but everyone’s vote shouldn’t count the same in my opinion. It’s kind of wild that it does frankly.

I would rather implement an IQ test but we know how that went

plenty of people who don't know anything out there voting on stuff they don't understand

IQ is a better proxy for understanding things than net worth, and would exclude some individuals with money thankfully

btw I know a few PhD economists. they're idiots

Yeah I think this too don’t get me wrong but it’s just more a spitballed fantasy type thing; implementing it on a large scale would prob be close to impossible to do realistically

and I think we should remember that using (claims of) having a lot of money got us a buffoon who first sent ICE to raid farms and hotels but oops he was wrong about that! I guess that was bad for the economy... do money people actually know money things? 🤔

the big brain peace president that bombed empty facilities and caused US military deaths for no reason. SAD!

the super duper smart tariffs that were also reversed because China called his dumb ass on it

what else can we add to the list

its almost like measuring the amount of something a person has means nothing? wow that person sure has a lot of hammers, I bet they know a thing or two about operating fisheries

America loves to elect the dumbest people that know the least, its fascinating

Imagine working fixing air conditioners in 95 degree weather for 5 years while spending less than you earned, then taking the personal risk of investing the money you worked hard to save into Tesla stock in 2012, and it turns into millions, then someguy calls you a money haver and want's you to suffer which somehow helps workers
