the market: stocks, bonds, options, whatever

I sold a lot yesterday. Feel like "Sell in May and go away, come back on Labor Day" may work this year

Silver is going to $100+ an ounce.
Gold to $10k.
Bitcoin possibly a million.
I'll buy me one of those Elon houses and put it on the adjacent property.

Plus we are not on a gold standard. If we were these values would be higher. Then the trillions of money being dumped into the economy as quantitative easing.

I know we are not on a gold standard (though it is always worth mentioning). The system we are on basically requires the rest of the world to have good faith in the US(? I understand that right) and we seem to be losing any credibility rapidly.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/greats...time-for-the-us-to-revalue-its-gold-reserves/ I keep hearing ominous word that this type of thing may be happening at some point (?)

All of this points to gold (and other precious metals) becoming worth more not less in the (fairly near) future -- I haven't seen projections that high but all the ?'s are because I am generally ignorant of the market.

There's the BRICS (brazil, russia, india, china, south africa, and more) that want to trade globally without using the dollar as the reserve currency. and have a currency backed by gold. Pretty soon the dollar will no longer be the global reserve currency. and Trump is gung ho about keeping it the standard. Nothing you can do when you keep printing money without backing to keep things moving. There will come a day when the dollar collapses and the preppers will make bank I feel.

sold what?

i sold Vistra and went long the new $IVES AI ETF

also sold some preferreds and high MER duds, cycled back into gold miners

that's pretty much all my equity plays planned for 2025, unless SPX corrects, in which case I'll sell some TSX and reallocate to SPX

Mostly no-revenue biotechs that have a while until their next important data release to free up cash for something I'm doing this year, but I sold ROOT too and feel like I should sell CCJ. Still holding MDGL because their drug rollout is going well and won't have any serious competitors for a while

yeah biotech and healthcare have had a poor year, some gamblers are already placing bets on UNH turning around but eh, too early to tell.

was thinking of taking profits on CCO (CCJ) but it pays a decent dividend and I'm not paying any tax on it so what the hey, might as well hold.

When average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment is $2500, having just enough to cover a month of rent and expenses is not what I'd call rich...

Well damn IONS I thought I was doin good till you had to post that meme...... Not even top 50% of the US........Gets rope and stool. (haha joking 100%) I do not have that in cash ATM though.

May I ask how you are doing this year Electrum? (I use you as the gold bar for stock success)

Thujone -- makin it by on 1400 a month in a 3 bedroom house with 40 acres. Not making it by well by any means -- especially since I just lost medicaid if I interpreted correct. (Tell ya in 2 days when I see the dentist); sorry meant to ask where roughly you live -- the cost of living varies so much state to state. (and usually with good reasons)

not rich. richer.

i feel like that's exactly the point of the statement...

alasdair
Yeah lol truth
People forget that there’s billions and billions of people outside of North America and Western Europe and they don’t have much money at all

glad I found this place

4 grand is about what my silver holdings are at rn. About 600k in total holdings here not including home equity; medium cost of living city on the east coast and I am not an old man lol. Work in business intelligence/analytics in the finance industry. happy to give advice where anyone wants it cause I’m not a asshole contrary to popular belief.😂 thread oughta be way more active than it is but oh well

My primary strategy for long term is buy and hold VOO, VBK and VPU with dividend reinvestment, short and medium term I have an account that sell covered call options on stocks with good liquidity/outlook and collect premiums. Easy. I don’t fuck around with buying options or leveraged funds anymore, been burned too much in the past

I’m eying up getting some physical Palladium as a lottery ticket of sorts. Used to be more expensive than gold and I smell a comeback. Never thought I’d make it this far to begin with and I can’t speak for anyone else who’s successful but once you’ve “made it” you tend to get bored and start wanting to do fun shit like that ahah.

i do donate but it’s just not something I care about that much. Sometimes I’ll buy a junkie a meal and large drink and talk with em if they take me up on the offer. never give them cash for drugs no way. Giving money to some foundation that isn’t even in the us or something is stupid and…not for me like I said. Even wounded warriors I don’t trust and I’d rather just donate directly which I’ve done many times to the families officers that were wounded/killed in the line of duty here

Investing in small cap companies kind of is donating to a degree lol, but with the expectation that the favor will be returned.

I don’t do drugs anymore for fun I’m on 1-2mg of Bupe a day and sometimes pop a Halcion when I can’t sleep that’s it. I’ve always had a knack for money but recently got way more into collecting physical metals after letting the drugs go

Anyway yeah. Success comes with hard work sometimes luck too sure but that’s life. Do the best with what you got and it’s pretty easy to be above average.

It’s 2025. Brokerages offer FREE trades and they even let you purchase fractional shares. APMEX and JMB sell amounts of gold all the way down to a single gram for a little over a hundred bucks. No excuses not to invest ever

@Electrum1 I know you’re big on metals we’ve chatted silver before. All I have right now is a small stack of 10oz RCM bars. Very non-diverse collection lol I made it so that’s my solo silver holding but I may snag a 20-tube of Asahi rounds

@ions I saw you posted some silv rounds in a lounge thread a few weeks back keep that shit going man. I can hook you up with a place for mega cheap capsules if you’re interested in protecting em but for investment purposes there’s generally no point as dealers have their predetermined bid prices set anyway

These exorbitant rents almost always seem to be in close proximity to shit-holes with terrible politics. NYC and San Fran come to mind immediately lmao. 2.5k monthly to have your packages stolen and car broken into. Some schizophrenic maybe shitting on the street 2 blocks down for the trifecta 😂

Once I’m actually rich “enough” I’m building a ranch out in Wyoming and staying my ass there 6 months outta the year away from…trendy culture lol
