the market: stocks, bonds, options, whatever

I started buying gold when it was at around $1300 an ounce.
Unless you count my high school class ring at 10K when it was around $300 back in 2000.

Smart man haha I remember when a grram of gold and a gram of weed were the same cost. Thankgod I got my money out of the market in oct but now it is just dwindling and since oct the bank has been dicking me around about gold. (Really its my fault they did stall oct till feb though and I was very clear with them I wanted gold. By feb I was iffy about it; still am a little and I don't know why it goes up consistently.

My s*** started tanking so I took out a bunch of short puts. Made all my money back and then some. Sometimes you just got Make lemonade. Currently I'm betting global oil price will continue to decrease. If it drops another couple of bucks I make 4K. But I only have until July

Oh man like rare earths I got this one and it's called...UAMY I couldn't tell you the first thing about what they do there I get that it's a mine and they produce a whole bunch of stuff that I cannot pronounce. It's the only mine like this in North America that is traded publicly. They were trained in at 36 cents per share 3 months ago. Then Trump starts this trade war with China and China turns off the rare earth components. That stock is trading at close to $3 a share and guess who had like a thousand shares. This guy right here baby

Now I'm not going to retire on $1,000 net profit. But I felt pretty damn cool putting in $350 and getting back $1,000 3 months later. Some hooligan put 700,000 in back in May when it was 30 cents a share so somebody knew what was fixing to happen. There's another one it's a Canadian military drone company that got their start with the autonomous shopping cart. And I knew that with the war in the Ukraine and all that that their stock price was probably going to do pretty well with the influx of defense money spending. I put $75 in like 6 months ago and it's valued at $600 right now.

Just saying you don't have to be like a whiz kid or rich to have some pretty decent returns.

Good lookin. Haha I got 1/10th the gold I planned on originally as the bank simply did not want to do it -- accused apmex of being a "Fly by night mexico operation" *When logic dictates they really should know them? (My dumb ass had to go home cuz i didnt memorize). Would only transfer x amount. You know the usual stranglehold your money bank act. Precious earth metals seem like a sound idea -- much like you I would be reading a page of gibberish googling each one to see what they do (I imagine) than not understanding that either --- nothing worth doing is easy. (Thats not ALWAYS true but it is a saying).

So apparently the USA and China came to a mutually acceptable deal over the tariffs as of yesterday. (It seems that Trump was not directly involved in the deal in person, which possibly accounts for the successful outcome.)

I'm not exactly sure of the details in much of any greater depth tbh, but instead of an expected surge upwards, the markets have just moved sideways today.

WTF?

Perhaps they had already factored in that this was going to happen :?

Sideways? The Nasdaq is +3.5% and the Dow is +2.3% right now
Well, I've now realised that my UK index fund platform must have a one (or perhaps even two) day lag from what happens on the US markets. Although im mostsly in the S&P500, and not sure if that went up by a similar amount last Monday.

However, in the few days I've been away I've just seen that things have shot back up massively. Most of my funds are well back up into the green, and teh couple that I bought right at the peak, just before the dip, have clawed back most of the losses.

Up from being in the toilet or up from the last administration? just for clarification
The upwards trajectory increased significantly at the beginning of Trump's new term. Until he mentioned his plans regarding tariffs, which caused large drops in the markets.

Things have recently recovered substantially over the last week or so, but they are still a fair bit off the all time highs of a few months ago.

Financial uncertainty comes with a chaotic leader who thinks he knows business but in reality is at least a 6x bankrupt failure nepo baby (and that is staying objective). I don't know if I even trust bluechip right now!

Trump is unfathomable to me. Although I think I'm beginning to get the picture. His father and grandfather before him, were highly succesful and shrewd businessmen. Even with all that inter-generational wealth that he inherited, and the lessons Old Man Trump, Fred, must have taught him, Donald still managed to bankrupt a casino!

That must really take some doing, as for most, as is well known by almost everybody, casinos are a licence to print money, and the house never looses.

I'm guessing it was Trump's obvious characater flaws of his ego and narcissism, wanting to make his casino the biggest and most grandiose venture imaginable, that was his undoing. With the running costs spiralling due to his ego-mania it became a doomed venture.

If it wasnt for his many serious character flaws (we all have them to some extent, but obviously most of us aren't billionaire presidents and businessmen, where such flaws really matter.)

If he was a nobody, no one would care. Got to admit though, that I am fascinated by him, and his family history.

He doesn't give a fuck about convention or protocol. His main talent is self promotion and he has a pure instinct for it. Like when he got shot at, instead of cowering away under cover of bodyguards, as most would have done, he rises to his feet and pumps his fist. And when Biden went gaga on that presidential debate, Trump shrewdly mostly just kept quiet, and let Biden babble on, digging his own grave, so to speak.

Most politicians of whatever nation are boring and staid as fuck. The same could never be said for Trump.

Nah if he was a nobody running around violating laws like he does he woulda just been shitcanned to a state pen at about 16 and never heard from again. His family is the only thing that makes him different from that crackhead around the way
