Bible verse of the day!! Get your daily study on.

Revelation 7:9, 14-17

After that I saw that there was a huge number, impossible for anyone to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language;
they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands.
They shouted in a loud voice, answered him, 'You can tell me, sir.'
Then he said, 'These are the people who have been through the great trial; they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb.
That is why they are standing in front of God's throne and serving him day and night in his sanctuary; and the One who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.
They will never hunger or thirst again; sun and scorching wind will never plague them,
because the Lamb who is at the heart of the throne will be their shepherd and will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.'

10 “He who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful in much; and he who is dishonest in a very little thing is also dishonest in much. 11 Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the use of earthly wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? 12 And if you have not been faithful in the use of that [earthly wealth] which belongs to another [whether God or man, and of which you are a trustee], who will give you that which is your own? 13 No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand devotedly by the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon [that is, your earthly possessions or anything else you trust in and rely on instead of God].” Luke 16:10-13

Also an often misquoted or misunderstood verse:

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy: 6:10

The opening phrase of this verse is at once famous and obscure. It is famous for being the inspiration for the common adage "money is the root of all evil." It's obscure in the sense that—in reality—the verse says no such thing. Rather, what is being decried is the love of money. Wealth and success are as good or bad as what one does with them. Greed and obsession with money form the basis of many kinds of sin, as verse 9 described in detail.

The Greek word for "all" used here is pantōn. This can literally mean "all" in the sense of "every single one," but it also is used in a more non-literal way. For example, the same root word is used in Matthew 3:5 to say that "all Judea" went to be baptized. It is also used in Colossians 1:6 when saying that the "whole world" was seeing the gospel bearing fruit. Here, as in Matthew and Colossians, the meaning seems to be more "every kind of," not literally "absolutely every single one."

In other words, the point is not that all sin is always the result of material greed. Rather, it is that a love of money can lead a person to virtually any other sin. Greed can enhance, inspire, and amplify the temptation of any other sin and lead us to disaster. This is why Paul continues by saying that believers tempted by a love of money can leave a close walk with God. They are prone to exchanging holiness for a focus on building wealth for personal gain. Paul notes that those who had already done so had "pierced themselves with many pangs." The word picture used here is one of self-inflicted wounds. Source

Think of what these above verses mean: we can't serve and give our hearts' affection to two things; we'll love one thing and hate God or love another and serve it rather than the living God.

And the love of a tool, money, or again anything else rather than Jesus. Becomes frankly evil.

I struggle with this.
God read my mail this morning when I had my devotion. Woah, God. Yeah. Ouch. Even my intelligence, or a gift He gave me, beauty, music, writing, etc., if God isn't number one, that loved thing for myself becomes sin. Oh, this was an ouch for me this morning. Check up from my neck up. 😬

Also, think of the many evil things that we can all agree on: drugs, human trafficking, and obvious wicked and detrimental issues that split up people, families, and communities. This is the tie-in, with the affection or doing anything for money to support fill in the blank. To hell with the consequences.

Love yawl. I'm mentioning the above for the benefit of others (myself included.) 💙

John 15:9-17

I have loved you just as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete.
This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you.
No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends, if you do what I command you.
I shall no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know the master's business; I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father.
You did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last; so that the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.
My command to you is to love one another.

Psalm 61

1
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

Isaiah 65:17-18
For behold I create new heaven's and a new earth and the former will not be remembered or called to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create.

Yes and AMEN to the above. 🙂↕️

16 “And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they put on a sad and dismal face [like actors, discoloring their faces with ashes or dirt] so that their fasting may be seen by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full. [Is 58:5] 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head [as you normally would to groom your hair] and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by people, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.
19 “Do not store up for yourselves [material] treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also. Matthew 6:16-21 <---Matthew was a tax collector; Jesus called him and he followed, not knowing what was ahead for him. It was daunting. So in sum, all of us, myself included, are called by God; few are chosen. The way to eternal life is narrow, and the way to eternal death is wide.

Will we choose to answer His call when he is near? To follow Jesus on the daily. Or, to do our own thing, etc. and miss it? Food for thought.

1 Corinthians 2:9
Truly, eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love him.

Psalm 1 : 1-3
O, the joy's of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked. Or stand around with sinners. Or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of YHWH. Meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the river bank. Bearing fruit each season, their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Acts 15:1-2, 22-29

Then some men came down from Judaea and taught the brothers, 'Unless you have yourselves circumcised in the tradition of Moses you cannot be saved.'
This led to disagreement, and after Paul and Barnabas had had a long argument with these men it was decided that Paul and Barnabas and others of the church should go up to Jerusalem and discuss the question with the apostles and elders.
Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose delegates from among themselves to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas, known as Barsabbas, and Silas, both leading men in the brotherhood,
and gave them this letter to take with them: 'The apostles and elders, your brothers, send greetings to the brothers of gentile birth in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia.
We hear that some people coming from here, but acting without any authority from ourselves, have disturbed you with their demands and have unsettled your minds;
and so we have decided unanimously to elect delegates and to send them to you with our well-beloved Barnabas and Paul,
who have committed their lives to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Accordingly we are sending you Judas and Silas, who will confirm by word of mouth what we have written.
It has been decided by the Holy Spirit and by ourselves not to impose on you any burden beyond these essentials:
you are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from illicit marriages. Avoid these, and you will do what is right. Farewell.'

Isaiah 48 : 17-18
This is what YHWH says, your redeemer, the holy one of Israel. I am YHWH your God, who teaches you what is good for you, and leads you along the paths you should follow. O, that you had listened to my commands! Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river, and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea.

Or how can you say to your neighbor, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye' while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye." (Matthew 7:3-5).

Isaiah 43 : 10
But you are my witnesses, O Israel, says YHWH. You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God, there never has been and there never will be.

A scripture that Jesus emphasised the importance of.
Hosea 6 :6
I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.

John 17 : 3
This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one you sent, Jesus Christ.
