Tryptamines Anyone tried blue lotus x psilocybin?

Blue Lotus (especially the Egyptian variety) contains nuciferine, a psychoactive alkaloid with (mainly but not exclusively) sedative effects. It is structurally related to apomorphine. Of note for the topic at hand, it is an antagonist on the 5ht2a (and several other) receptors. In theory, this would blunt or even kill a psychedelic trip, acting similarly to certain antipsychotics and even kratom.

Has anyone tried this? Either trying them together looking for synergy or trying to kill a trip with it.

Orally or vaporized? I've only had it as a tea or decocted in wine.
Tea made from straight flowers only works if it's a heady batch of lotus, but it does work. I tend to put 4-6 flowerheads, it gets noticeably stronger with a couple heads of passionflower added. Adding a gram of 100x extract to a bottle of wine produced an intensely intoxicating experience, felt like eating 3-5mg of flualprazolam on top of a bottle of wine and just barely not blacking out. Vaporized, the straight flowers don't work well, but the 100x extract I was using smoked beautifully. It could also be dissolved into everclear, and then infused onto cannabis or salvia, which was quite nice.

I had a vendor once say if you get really good blue lotus you’ll understand what it does. So he sent me some really good flowers. But he told me to eat the flowers. I ate some with Kratom once and I can’t really describe what happened. Felt great. Much more magical than a benzo. Subtle but powerful.

I used to enjoy mulungu bark tea. A handful of that good bark simmered for 20 minutes actually did feel like 10 mg of diazepam. I used to use that at the end of trips when I stopped drinking. Good bark is hard to come by.

This is a great way to put it! Would you say that mulungu has a similar magical or mystical sort of feeling to it?

I have no idea if it's safe, but drinking a cup of Banisteriopsis caapi tea followd by some lotus tea and bong rips of 100x extract led to a hyper intense trip. Fractals blooming from my ceiling as flowers, a near complete paralysis at first during the comeup, which later resolved into a euphoria I've only felt <5 times in my entire life. I have no clue what mechanism this functioned by, or if it's safe, so be careful if anyone ever attempts this, but there's definitely something going on there.

I recently tried this mix of blue and white lotus. I made a tea, dosed orally. I definitely felt a very unique relaxing buzz that was quite pleasant. Sedating... but a hint of entheogen and psychedelic too, almost cannabis like. I'm guessing tolerance is an issue? Because I finished the bag and never got that buzz again, but I never raised the dose either, so idk.

I also had kratom in my system when I tried lotus, not sure if there is some positive interaction there. I sort of doubt it, because in my experience kratom interacts negatively with basically every other drug (after you've built a big tolerance/dependence).

I was not as impressed with mulungu as I was with lotus, they also feel different, however they both have a similar sort of ineffable "plant magic" to the effects which is really hard to describe, and thus does make them somewhat similar in my mind.

I will say the vendor I got mulungu had kilos of excellent bark. So for two years, that’s what I used. I got some bark from another vendor that didn’t even come close. I just found it very calming, sedating and sleepy. It hit quick too like kava. But not magical at all. And you needed a good handful simmered for 20 minutes with a little lemon - (RIP Fourwinds). I learned a lot from that vendor.

I was able to repeat the blue lotus effects. Sometimes with some of these plants, things are not repeatable. But for like two months, I was playing around with it. Of course all this talk makes me wanna try again.

I used to make a strong wormwood tea and get nice effects. It made me want to listen to swing jazz from the 30’s. Yet I never had absinthe itself.

I've used absinthe that was flavored to taste like it, but did not contain actual wormwood. I've produced alcohol before though, and I'm interested in taking a swing at absinthe maybe a few years down the road. This makes me want to ask, what effects did you get from wormwood tea?

There is a lot of fake absinthe if you try and buy it without knowing. Probably just like finding a good vendor. However, my cousin and her husband claimed they have been getting some great absinthe lately. They don’t seem the type like anything other than alcohol too but they say this is a little different.

I think if you know how to distill you can make your own absinthe. I understand it has to be distilled. Making your own would be the best.

The effects from wormwood were like staring off into space in reverie. Like that moment that you forget what you’re gonna say extended. Of course I smoked cannabis on top it. For me it had this weird feeling that I was being transported back into the 1920s and 1930s for some reason. Everything looked like an old movie. I was saying it was one of the bitterest things I’ve ever had. I guess we can say that about a lot of these plants.

Thank you for the information here! I'm certainly going to explore this within the next couple of years. Distillation is pretty simple but I've never done it to create alcohol, just used a distillation rig in the lab. When I finally try some genuine absinthe I'll be sure to leave a trip report here on BL!

Wow, I just logged into bluelight because I'm mixing 2c-b and blue lotus tonight and this thread has been active today lol
So far it's been very nice. It seems to dull the visuals a bit, but enhances the body high.

Probably works well together as an aphrodisiac as 2c-b enhances tactile sensations, and blue lotus is a mild vasodilator.

I kind of forgot about mulungu. I always just tossed and washed to powder to help me sleep in lieu of a benzo. I don't recall it having any magic feel to it.

I got the idea to try wormwood tea from a Dale Pendell book. The explanation of effects too but I can confirm. I understood it after experiencing it. Esper tell me you have the Pharmako Trilogy?
