Dextromethorphan Polistirex: Anxiolytic?

It can be both.

It's both an SNRI & a dissociative drug. In the right dose, it may reduce anxiety. Take too much & it could make you anxious if you start to trip without realizing you're going to be tripping.

Polisterex just means the DXM is wrapped in edible plastic bubbles, which causes it to release slowly & essentially become an "extended release" form of DXM.

I've done so many DXM trips. Polisterex tends to be a little more on the milder side but lasts a hell of a long time.

I remember once in 2015, I took a DXM polisterex trip & the movie "The Descent" came on the TV. I had seen it decades ago when it came out, but that night, the DXM had me so enthralled into the movie, that I felt like I was there with them, climbing through dark caves. But I felt very calm & content & just happy to be watching this movie.

So yeah, DXM can absolutely reduce anxiety in certain people & under certain circumstances.

Is the Polistirex element important?
I've taken DXM many times but never noticed that part.
I've found that I prefer Polistirex to Hydrobromide. It can be more draining, but the trip is better.

What DeathIndustrial88 said holds true for me. There's a happy medium with DXM. Taking too much blows up (exacerbates) the anxiety levels.

With the polisterex, you get more DXO, so more dissociative/pain relief/etc..
I find the Hbr the trip comes on & makes my brain feel like it's being fried like an electrical circuit. lol But I've had some incredibly memorable trips on both.

I had to stop using DXM though unfortunately. I started having these episodes where I'd wake up & the center of my chest would feel really tight & it would hurt to breathe in. I'd also feel slightly weak like I'd have a flu or something. Would last about 3 days. Thought it was costochondritis & wasn't sure why I kept getting it.

And then I eventually noticed that it would always happen right after I'd do DXM. So I quit doing DXM for like a year & it never came back, so I'm assuming the DXM was causing it. Why & what it exactly it was doing to me, I have no idea. But I miss DXM some days & I'm afraid to touch it again now. I passed my "50 trip limit" a long time ago though too.

I get the happy medium.
I usually aim for second plateau. Third or beyond just sounds terrifying to me.

I don't know where they fall but I've had some terrible trips.

I thought about being shoved into an oven, and dying in an ambulance afterwards.

I've gotten terribly depressed and almost incapable of moving. I'm not sure if it's depersonalization and/or derealization but some of these trips have been total disasters.

I've had thoughts that I'm dead/dying/in hell. It's weird and terrible. Edit: I'm not sure the trips would have qualified as Cotard's Syndrome, but I don't think so.

I had an existential crisis after watching the movie The Others many years ago. Recently during a trip there was fog and rain outside my house. It made me think of the fog around the house in that movie.

Yeah, that's third and forth plateau's.

There's a big difference between second and third..third is where you start to fully dissociate, first and second are more like stoned/opioidishhh kinda thing

I've had so many trips like that... I just assumed it was part of the "dissociaitve trip", is that you might some times feel like you're going to die or about to die. Or you could have horrible physical side effects the entire time, which just exacerbate your anxiety or whatever.

And then there's the fact that DXM is very dirty, you're basically overdosing on an SNRI to get the dissociative effects. And it's metabolism can vary so wildly, that you can have so many different trips on it. And many of them can be on the frightening scary side.

I look at it like this, psychedelics show you reality warped & beautiful colors & patterns, but DXM just takes you to an empty black void, almost like it's giving you a taste of death.

Near death experiences & out of body type of experiences are not actually that uncommon on DXM. It's just that they don't always happen every time & some people might get lucky & avoid some of them at all depending on how often they dose, what they've eaten, other factors, etc..

I found smoking too much weed on the peak of a DXM trip definitely made it worse, like just complete loss of touch with reality, dark, omniscient freaky feeling.
And then I could have trips where I just vibed & listened to the music the whole time & was fine, so.. lol
