🗣️ General Discussion 🗣️ EADD animal food debate

I finally made this new thread.

I also noticed that this topic has got people bit heated; please act civil from now on. I am sure many of you would love to lash yet one more time and it possibly could even be just, but my contribution in forum was also moderated as of recently because somehow I am held to higher standard than regular user  , so I am projecting my frustration this way and I want you to feel like I do.

If you feel like something that has been said is clearly violating against you, please feel free to use report-function and I promise we will give it due process.
Just wanted to say thanks for your effort in moderating. Moderating anything online is like trying to manage an insane asylum.

I apologize to you for my contribution to the spat, though I will say that the anger was largely one sided. I was matching their energy and fighting fire with fire doesn't work, I should have just disengaged when it was clear there wasn't going to be any actual discussion.

You have good points. I have no hard feelings and can not really blame you. Peace. I am here so that you can have your space to express yourself and I just moderate expressions bit if needs to be. All good.

Isn't pet food usually made from mechanically recovered meat and meat otherwise deemed not fit for human consumption? I don't actually know I just kind of assumed. I don't eat meat personally but it never really occurred to me that livestock would be reared solely for pet food, seems like it would be wasteful and impractical but idk haven't looked into it.

But anyway.

Domesticating animals and keeping them as pets isn't exactly natural but I don't think many people would agree that keeping an animal as a pet constitutes cruelty (though I'm sure there are some who would). What's important (to me) is that the animals I share my home with are happy and thriving.

So long as they are, I don't give a shit if their food contains meat or not. And neither do they, cats don't have ethics they don't care about anyone's moral posturing they've got better things to do.

@LoginNotSecure I get where you're coming from and while I personally wouldn't go out of my way to put my cats on a vegan diet, as far my mum's cat is concerned she's been on the ami cat since we got her 7 years ago and is healthy and thriving and seems to really enjoy her food (turns her nose at most things) so I'm not going to change her food just because a stranger on the internet told me to.

@Esperighanto We've gone way off topic here would you mind moving the pet food conversation into gibberings, please?

Or maybe into a new thread where we can debate pet food with intense enthusiasm idk.
Hi, sorry for being pretty absent yesterday it was wicked busy. I cannot figure out how to move posts on Xenforo, and I dugh through the mod guide looking for how to do this. Would you mind DMing me on how you would do this?

I still haven't picked my modstick back up yet otherwise I'd make you a little picture guide. For now though @Pissed_and_messed already took care of it.

I’m a vegetarian for a long time. But also a dog owner and lover. I accept that by owning dogs I must participate in the meat industry. It would be cruel to own dogs otherwise. Same goes for cats.

Cats aren’t meant to be vegetarian either. You forcing your own life views on a carnivorous animal is cruel and you should be banned from keeping pets.
Cats are hard-core Carnivore s, though don t underestimate the Grass.
For the Fur ball vomit, but that Grass does contain nutrition, vegetable kind.

And while they mostly eat raw flesh, its not the muscle s [steak] they are after.
Its the healthy part s, including part of the intestines with partly digested
plant material in it. So technically they are not Vegetarian, they cheat a bit.

What is disturbing is the ingredient s of the mainstream brand s.
Item 1 Wheat, cheap for the seller. But makes the Cat sick eventually,
so pretty expensive for the buyer. As it includes lot of visit s to the Vet.

[will not name the other disturbing shit in it, but a lot.
When lucky there is some some meat in it, of Rodent s/ little Bird s
As cats don t have Fish/ Cows/ Pigs on their diet]

As long as they are getting what they need to be healthy (ie protein, taurine, whatever vitamins), I see nothing wrong with having a vegetarian cat or dog. Meat may be the natural way to get it, but it's not the only way and I highly doubt a cat really cares either way. They care if they're full and healthy, or if they are not. How they get there is likely not super important. People that get upset about this are doing the same thing they accuse vegetarians of, putting their own views onto the animal. That being said there are 100% horrible vegan/vegetarian pet owners that don't take the extra steps to ensure the animals aren't malnourished. Either way LoginNotSecure needs to spend 5 seconds researching how this stuff works before they put their beak into what other people do. Even standard "kibble" is a lot of grain and pretty shit for a cat or dog, but they wouldn't consider that abuse.
A Cat on Wheat don t look Healthy to me.

When our Siberian Bushcat got discarded by my ex,
after a diet of trash, kid stressing her and a owner who
well rather watched TV then take a little time to look up:
'The best way to take care of your Cat'.

When she arrived she was to Skinny, tooth trouble/ logically.
Wheat is sugar, and sugar is added to the food too.
As is salt, KIdney s !

She had a Fucked Fur, bold Tail she didn t look well.
And was not the same Cat after i took care for her,
she seemed way more relaxed.

To the Vet, bla bla bla Flee allergy. Bullshitting me, but gave her
Fipronil, a forbidden agriculture Pesticide. KoeKoek,
insane in the brain. When she was with me, adjusted her food.
Treated her like you should [lots of cuddling],
read on internet a healthy cat, hardly ever get s Flees.
I checked never found one on her over the years.

tail grew on, she gained weight and overal looked happy. Afaik.

So you are saying you have Fat Feddy s Cat ?
Cause, my experience with Miss de Beer/ van Buitelaer.
She was a bred Siberian Bush Cat, so got a stupid name and family tree.

But despite her maybe royal genes. In terms of Cat Food,
i could move up with certain specific rules. No Moose one of em.
Had to be pieces, concerning the wet stuff. Those can s were
expensive, but as the dry food Meat the first ingredient.
And no Wheat, other grains yes. But it was a good midway.

Those bizar specific preference s, like serving the queen ?
Floathing in Tomato sauce was OK, add a Pea or slice of Carrot.
No way, for dry/ wet food quality up yes. Down no. :memecat:
Never got her to eat real raw meat, sold frozen in the Pet store.
Then again would she have had that from birth, who knows.

Love em, wish i could trade once in a while.

But Cats are pretty precise, no way she drank tap, if there was Rain,
or Morning Dew available. Beside being cat owner without cat-shutter,
I was also the doorman.

Forgot to add since relocating, her weight steadily gained.
She was underweight, just a lot of Fur which hid it.
My ex was no cat lover, knew that, total lack of responsibility.
Pretty sad, as i knew that long long ago.

Even sicker, met two people, took good care for them selves.
And nonchalantly tell me, cats can do:
7 days without fresh water. No problemo.
They didn t have a water/ filter thing, food dispenser.
Any care. And most important no fresh 🚽

i had a hard time staying away more then 2 days

Flo (the 12 yr old) will eat her Ami kibbles and one brand of wet food and that's about it. She like dreamies and I recently introduced her to lickelix which she LOVES.

Ollie and Freddie (7 months) don't seem too fussy about the kibbles they're currently on the purena chicken ones for kittens. I tried some cheaper ones from the pet store which they seemed to enjoy but it gave them an upset stomach so I switched them back. I give them a pouch of the same wet food flo has to share which they seem to like, but they always lick the jelly off and come back for the meat way later.

Tried them on tuna yesterday. Freddie loved it but Ollie just turn e.hiw nose up at it.

That s exactly how far I got, Purina Sensitive, dry. And their can s.
I know it s from a shitty company, but there product seem s acceptable.
To kitty, well Fibi was her front name,

Once i starved her [not really] but in cat term s and she ate the raw shit.

But not if given a choice. Pretty precise some Cat s, not all, but mine.
Had a very precise contract, and that s bizar. As they don t speak or write.
But you will know. At my ex, fresh water is crucial for Fibi. Not for my ex !

She would drink from the toilet. :ROFLMAO: But my ex was also a Sodium-Hypo-Chloriet
proponent for toilet cleaning. So it bothered me.

dis one.

The one from the local pet shop is half the price but it gave them the shits even when i tried mixing it in so what can you do. Once they're a bit older the plan is to start switching them over to free feeding with amicat and a pouch of wet a day along with a few treats, but I might try the supermarket ones instead depending on how they take to it. amicat isn't cheap either.

I have to cook a lot of fish anyway so i'm going to try giving them some fresh salmon and smoked haddock over the next few days and see how they like it.

I'm excited for them on the smoked haddock. I used to LOVE that when I still ate fish.

I got 3 badass cats who are literally my best mates, the smallest one is a lil fucking druggy, she inhales mymcloud of crack, gear, weed,.u name.it, but she's so fucking cute you can't be mad lol
They love.fwlix as good as it looks, spoilt fucks lol

My fiance and I have a cat who fucking loves PCP. I caught him in the lab licking a bowl clean that I was curing PCP onto kief with, and then every time we'd smoke dippers in the house we'd blow the smoke away from the cats, since it forms a Scooby Doo-esque horror movie looking cloud of low lying fog. This cat would just cruise right over into the cloud until he was adequately dusty, then he'd just walk around visibly tripping, it's fascinating.

He can smell any time I have an arylcyclohexylamine out and he tries to snatch it from me!

If it has got Wheat, Kitten nor Cat eat Wheat, besides the leaves of wild varieties.
Could be the culprit, then again they say no Wheat and put in Rice/ Oat/ Corn.
All Wheat s, also see a lot of Fish which Cat don t technically eat and Egg.

Whites are OK, time to time, Yellows not afaik. And then all that plant Protein,
why cheaper then meat. Though one assuring thing are the added Vitamin s
and Mineral s. At least you know that there, hope you ll find the ONE for Kitty s.

No judgement but am super-critical (yeah they are definitely different) regarding the whole giving/allowing/facilitating animals to consume drugs. It touches a nerve in me, more than touches I guess, it boils my fucking piss.

I am not an entirely innocent party either, having once or twice blown my weed smoke in general direction of my dog who appeared to like it...when I was a teenager, before I developed a more critical self awareness and general increased brain-access. Same dog once ate what I estimate to be around a quarter of a gram of good black hash too and 'hilariously' looked a bit confused, actually walked sideways for a small distance, had a noticably increased appetite and slept for longer than usual.

Drugging any creature (including humans) without their informed, clear, educated consent is just a hard no to my mind. (yes ofc that does not apply to serious medical shit etc) To each their own I guess. I'm generally a non-violent person but would probably not be able to contain myself if, say, I witnessed my (or maybe anyone's dunno) pets or children having crack/meth/heroin fumes blown over them or in any way being spiked on purpose.
