Boxing MMA / Muay Thai / Kickboxing fans here?

Love all 3.

Went to a local muay thai event a couple of weeks back, didn't really expect much but i was blown away by the performances.

Apparently they do them every 4 or 5 months here and I had no fucking idea so that's definitely gonna turn into a regular thing
Awesome.

This is my all time favorite fight. Just non stop carnage the entire fight. Literally no disengagement just constant exchanges the whole fight.

If you have any good fights to share please do.

Come on Dricus

You can do it.

Put that dude into another dimension later please and thank you.
What an embarrassment.
You obviously need to go back to the drawing board, your performance was not worthy of a champion. Work On it and get the belt back.when the time is right.

You can't improve if you don't make mistakes and learn from them.

I still have faith you can do it.

I'm a huge MMA fan and have been since I saw UFC one LIVE on PPV back at age 13 in 93. I do also like Muay Thai and boxing, but I prefer MMA, or even BJJ/submission grappling. Wrestling is also great to watch.

I actually just got my black belt in BJJ a few months ago. I've dabbled in the other styles as well (a little boxing, little Muay Thai, little wrestling and little MMA training, plus Karate as a little kid) and I feel like I'm usually able to have the best conversations with those who also train, but I can still have a good discussion about combat sports with fans who don't.

Several UFC divisions are really exciting right now, especially welterweight. I'm WW is just a MURDERER'S ROW. Islam vs JDM is going to be INCREDIBLE. I'm honestly not sure who I've got in that one. I actually think that JDM MIGHT be able to beat him. He's just clearly got a VERY effective sprawl and brawl style. The way he completely shut down Bilal was impressive. Then you've also got Shavkat (i'm a fan of his style as well) and hopefully he'll fight the winner. I mean either way, Shavkat vs Islam or Shavkat vs JDM are both FIRE. There's so many other good guys: Sean Brady, Ian Machado Garry, Morales, etc.

On the other hand, Illia has already established himself as one of the all time greats. I really hope that someday he fights Islam (I'd love to see him fight JDM also) cause that fight could also go either way. MW is also looking good. I'm really impressed by Reinier de Ridder's style and the run he's on: he's beaten Meershart, Nickal, Holland and Whitaker all in a year. Him vs Hernandez should be a really good fight. Hernandez is just one of these sleeper/dark horse type of fighters who seemingly comes out of nowhere to take people out. That fight is almost definitely going to be for the next title shot. I've got RDR, and him vs Khamzat should be a GREAT fight. I also just saw that Bo Nickal has a fight with Rodolfo Vieira. That ought to be fun. Hopefully it hits the ground and we can see a wrestling vs BJJ battle rather than some sloppy standup.

I don't think there's any way in hell that Dricus beats Khamzat. That was just the most lopsided win ever. I don't get people complaining that it was boring. I mean I'm a big fan of grappling and BJJ due to my background, but if someone doesn't like it then I say stick to watching Muay Thai.

Most likely the winner of RDR/Hernandez will get the title shot and either guy vs Khamzat should be great. Both are skilled enough to give him a challenge, but I don't think either can beat him. Khamzat's gonna have that belt for a LONG time IMO. He's just too good. I still want to see him fight Shavkat, but I don't know if that's going to happen. I'd also pay good money to see him fight Islam or JDM despite the size difference (I mean, I'd even like to see Khamzat fight Illia to be honest).

Yup, but after being told for a week that he (DDP) is ready for all styles of MMA, then hearing stories about him having to cut big weight in a few days, and then the actual betting odds with him at such generous odds, kinda told the story before the fight.

Just watching it unfold with no response ( as he said "if I get taken down, I will just get up).,,, well, that didn't happen.

Fuck, it didn't even happen once if I remember correctly.

So, I didn't say it was boring, and I know you weren't referring to me, but it was a shock for me to see that fight.

My opinion on Khamzat, well, let's see if he can take a punch before I give my opinion, until then I think only Reinier de Ridder would have a chance, but one punch from anyone could send him into the shadow realm.

Well, we did see him get dropped by Gilbert Burns, but Burns is a tough SOB and that was at 170lbs. I mean if anyone gets hit wrong they could go out, but I think Khamzat can take a shot, he's just good in general at not getting hit.
