Reddit has banned many drug subs today

Oh wow I just checked and they just banned one of the kratom extract (7-hydroxymitragynine) subs I used to go on sometimes. There’s also another one for ‘quitting7oh’ that is for people withdrawing from kratom extracts with a post saying “watch out guys they are banning subs and we may be next” … I wonder what the heck is going on?

Looks like they’re unbanned. Crisis averted, at least for now.
Yeah I've seen the posts on that same sub, I don't understand how they would shut them down just to reopen them a few hours later?
Maybe they wanted to check if the mods are active and if yes, which ones? Maybe they wanted to give them a warning and recommend changes on what they allow?

i'd think if the kratom sub got banned it was because links to vendors. it being legal, but they don't know if the vendors are supplying legit stuff. i'd just think anyways.. like they didn't ban any of the farm bill thca forums probably cause it's known to be safe.

i don't know why r/drugs wouldn't've gotten banned.. they are good about not allowing people to source. r/lsd isn't even as strict and sometimes lets links stay up for a while. r/drugs has all automated messages that stops a lot of posting... i'm gonna guess the way the mods ran the subs is why they banned the certain sections. plus it's hard to run a sub glorifying something like cocaine.. i'd think the benzos sub would be alright, but i'm guessing it was a lot of people saying they take really high doses and that was a bad influence... anyways, r/drugs wasn't banned and there is a good amount of glorification of OTC drugs that blue light doesn't really share.. a lot of younger people that haven't learned a hard lesson yet influencing other young people to do stupid stuff.

Platforms turn all or parts of their services for different kind of reasons. Maintenance, for example. Though then they put some ki d of notice up before doing it.
Sometimes it's a technical problem (server goes down, updates that don't work as they should)
It seems to be a human error here, as @Shinji Ikari posted.

Seems unlikely that they accidentally deleted a bunch of these drugs subs together. I think it's a warning couched as an accident. Or maybe just a preview of a coming action and an unspoken hint to archive any content you value. Reddit is becoming less trustworthy all the time.

Good! I want to start a censorship free (excluding truly heinous stuff like CP) mega forum to rival Reddit but people tell me it won’t succeed. I despise Reddit.
If you could get servers hosted in a few countries known for allowing free speech, get solid code and fresh formatting/layout and market it the right way I think there's a huge void on the Internet waiting to be filled by something like this

I think so too, but my fear is that it just won’t come up in search engines and I’ll never get any traction to begin with. Search engine engines are totally broken now and Reddit is artificially boosted.

If you can run a good marketing campaign and understand SEO then I think you could circumvent this. Probably still appear below Reddit but it would at least appear

Talking with a software developer about this. He’s currently working on a censorship version free version of Discord and if it impresses me, I’ll probably invest in him to work on the mega forum.

Sounds like a solid plan hopefully the system he implements is more secure than discord tokens though
