Advice for first time on molly

So I'm planning to pick up some mdma soon, and the presses are supposedly 280mg. From everything I've read that seems like an extremely high dose especially for my weight and considering I have 0 experience. My plan is to break it into smaller doses, but I'm not sure if the actual mdma will be spread evenly through the pill, so yeah a bit nervous on how to dose it correctly.

Was also wondering about the best context to try for the first time. I don't have anywhere fun to try it, but I'm not sure how advisable it is to take alone in your room.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Usually the presses these days are pretty consistent if made by a big manufacturer, pill quality can be helpful in figuring that out but shouldn't be the only determinant. I would definitely split that in half 140mg would be a solid and intense first time but could also be a little overboard for some users

I like to split pills accurately by weight. If I measure the weight of a whole pill, let's say its 0.5g (500mg) and it contains 280mg MDMA

We can do some quick math (280/500=0.56) and figure out that there is 0.56mg MDMA in every 1mg of pill material

It should be easy to dose any amount now, if we want to measure 100mg MDMA from the pill we simply do 100/0.56=178.6mg

So 178mg of this theoretical pill would contain 100mg MDMA

That's one easy way to measure it but MDMA is also quite water soluble so if a pill containing 280mg of MDMA is crushed and dissolved in 280mL (which is 280g, density is great!) That means there will be 1mg of MDMA in every 1g (1mL) of water and it can be measured that way, this is called volumetric dosing

As for set and setting, they can be important for MDMA. I like using it with a close friend who I can talk about anything with, music is great, dancing, massages, I personally like weed on MDMA sometimes ketamine, going to a park (with friends)

MDMA is a social drug and I always get the most of it in comfortable social situations

You mean like a fentanyl test strip? It should! But be aware that some (older?) Fent tests can give false positives on MDMA. There is a specific concentration to shoot for in that case, I think it was something like 20mg/2ml? Could be wrong but something to be aware of

Don’t call people when you’re fucked up on it is my only advice - you’re gonna want to - but don’t, unless they are really trusted.

Also those pills are way too high of a dose. 120 mg is a good beginner dose and you can add another 50 mg towards the end of the peak of you feel like you need more. But don’t redose anymore after that or the chances of a bad comedown will increase greatly

Thats pretty annoying lol, there's apparently a certain brand that claims to not give false positives for mdma, so I'll probably go for that

Sounds lovely, and yeah that's fair enough. Thankfully I have a couple of people I trust fully, so if it comes to that I probably wouldn't be in too much trouble

I recommend crushing the pill first then weighing out the percentage that will give you the dose that you want. But volumetric dosing in water would be even more accurate. I would wanna make sure they’re definitely MDMA because your first time is so special. But, if you’re pretty sure about the purity then I guess go for it. 100-150mg is a good starting dose depending on weight and metabolism, and how sensitive to stimulants you are if you have any clue.

I’ve always taken it with small groups of friends or at parties where a lot of other people were on it. Best to use for sure in my experience. I definitely do not recommend you do it alone. Setting is so important for drugs.

Great advice here - MDMA pills are unnecessarily dosed.. I'm a 250lb guy and if I take a pressed pill, I'm starting at half a pill and maybe taking a quarter as a booster 45-90 minutes after the effects begin.

There's a lot of banging advice in this thread that I don't want to discount, but I do want to chime in to say that if you end up having a less stimulating time than you expected, don't be shocked. MDA and MDMA both can be shockingly non-stimulating to maybe 1/5-1/3 people I've seen use it in the past, and that includes myself, if I want it to be stimulating I'll take it alongside a small amount of amphetamine, a combination my fiance and I sometimes refer to as "turbo molly".

It's been a while since this first post, has your first roll occurred yet? If so, how was it?

I don’t agree with this because you’re not gonna reach the threshold dose. I’m usually under 50kg but no way would 75mg be adequate. And my sensitivity to amphetamines is very normal. I don’t think there’s much point in taking less than 100 mg unless you know from prior experience that you’re hyper sensitive to amphetamines. Of course, you could always start at a low dose and add more later but I’d recommend starting at 100mg minimum.

I weigh ~220 lbs (~100kg) and have consistently found doses as low as 30-60mg to be fascinatingly empathogenic, though not quite as face meltingly awe inspiring as 125-175mg doses, so I suspect that subjective variance is a big factor here. As far as amphetamine tolerance goes, 600mg of pharma Adderall in approximately 36 hours has zero physical side effects and the only detrimental cognitive side effect is an almost complete inability to feel emotions once it wears off, until I sleep to recover from the insane monoamine depletion I inflicted upon myself.

As a note for future readers, 600mg of Adderall in 36 hours was something I was doing due to tolerance and profoundly reckless stupidity. Nowadays as a more knowledgeable person who cares more about self-preservation, I cap myself at 100mg of amphetamine in a day and never use it more than twice weekly.

I can easily believe that - as you say, subjective variance is huge, more meaningful than body weight often - but would you still recommend that someone try a low dose for their first time? One’s first time is so special I think it’s best to take a proper dose. Maybe I’m biased because it was the first drug I tried and I just took one pill which I would estimate was around 125 mg based on later experience experiences with exact doses.

My first MDMA experience was maybe 1/4 of a pinch of MDMA in a powerade that I cautiously sipped down over the course of a couple hours, and it was, in retrospect, probably 60-75mg in total. Young me was a fool to eyeball it, but I wasn't exactly able to bring a milligram scale into the stands of a Phish show either and we were working with pure crystal, plus I was on an irresponsible amount of LSD and THC at that time which further clouded my young mind's judgement.

My second MDMA experience was with 125mg initially, and redosing 175mg over 3 redoses because the friend who'd introduced me on these first two occasions is afflicted with a highly addictive personality and needs to finish the bag of whatever he's working with, essentially. I later found that 225mg was where diminishing effects were observed in myself, but not necessarily everybody else, some people found it to be closer to ~250mg or 175mg depending on bodyweight.

An initial roll I would suggest anything between 75-150mg, depending on if a redose is planned. If a redose is planned, I'd shoot for 100-125mg initially, as redosing extends duration without expanding upon the roll much, with the total consumed not exceeding 175mg or so.
