Tramadol question

I’ve been taking 100 mg only in the morning for 12 days. It’s not doing much for my pain and I want to stop. Can I do so after 12 days without withdrawal kicking in? I only take the 100 mg every 24 hours.

Problem is I was an oxycodone user and I managed to quit. My doc said tramadol won’t cause me to get dependent again but I really don’t trust that. It’s an opioid after all, no? And an SNRI! And since it’s not doing much more than Tylenol for my pain, I don’t wanna chance getting hooked on it. I’m afraid it already got its hooks in me- a bit. Although I don’t feel any negative symptoms after 8 hours, after taking it.

Please help me with some advice.🙏

I have no real long term exp with tramadol usage but being clean off opiods ( not sure how long ) and now starting tramadol and only been on 12 days I think you might feel some wds but very lightly and mildly as for the SNRI part maybe more exp tramadol x tramadol user can advice.

But if it not helping with the problem at hand then raise this with the doc and tell any opiod used long enough is gonna be addictive, lol or maybe leave out the last part 😄

I doubt you’ll have a strong withdrawal, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you had a little bit. I’d do a short taper.
I agree. Maybe some diarrhea and mood swings but nothing intense. Loperamide and a relaxing supplement or two (like kava) should do

Have you tried kratom? I mean it's still an opioid receptor activating substance, but better than tramadol in more than one respect

The last time I had a tramadol was 38 hours ago. Feeling fine. No different. Hopefully that means no w/d, so no need for kratom (I keep reading people get hooked on it pretty easily.) Right now I’m addicted to hiking so I’d rather get endorphins that way. I’m so afraid of ANY opioids now.😢Can’t believe I agreed to try tramadol! 🤦🏻‍♀️ That could’ve been my way back to hell!

Tramadol withdrawal can be a little delayed compared to other opioids. But honestly when I just read you saying that it’s been 38 hours and you’re doing fine I was like ‘Oh she’s fine then’. I usually feel the withdrawals from tramadol by 38 hours for sure.
Hugs 💜

Do you still think about *oxycodone*?
I think about it in terms of “THANK YOU GOD, ZEUS, ALLAH, and all the gods for getting that beast off my back!”😅 Otherwise, I’ve worked hard on replacing thoughts that aren’t good for me, so I guess it’s finally working. What made it difficult is the 2 lumbar bulges, 2 thoracic and 3 cervical disc bulges that make my pinkies and ring fingers numb (and I’m a working pianist).😔

I think you’ll probably be fine, but it is still possible you’ll experience some withdrawal effects given tramadol unique properties/mechanisms of action. But 38 hours without any issues is a very good sign regardless. Well done and keep up the hiking! Natural endorphins really are so much better.

Hs the OPs doctor conflated the term 'addiction' with the word 'dependent'?

becuae wjile tramdol sucks and isn't very abusable, like other opioids, it DOES form physical dependence.

Hi
If you've never used opioids, opiates, you won't feel anything.
It takes months to go into abstinence even with strong opioids (tramadol is a weak opioid).
Another thing if you have already suffered several abstinences, but it doesn't seem to be your case.
Don't worry, everything will be fine.
PS. If you really want to be safe, start taking 50 mg tomorrow
Bye

100mg Er pills of tram are best for quitting tramadol and being on 100mg ER and for only 12 days, u can
a, take 3/4 of your pill, next day only 50mg, 3rd day take 25 and stop. Other opioids in equal dosage just quit. Or take a half for a day but this one Is hybrid of SNRi, serotonine releaser and M1, O-DSMT... if u are avarage metabolizer it means u are on 10-15mg of something with almost the same mu-opioid receptor affinity as oxycodone, but 9 hours half-life, long onset, no rush, just real opioid (synthetic) analgesia. Just so u can compare to other opioids, of same affinity etc but really fast onset, duration 4hours. But u reach something like higher peak on them and that makes them more pleasant for a short time.
Tramadol ingested by avarage or rapid metabolizer into M1 in ER form is like something i would advice for substitution therapy useful for opioids with mu-opioid receptor affinity of max. hydrocodone>oxycodone> O-dsmt,tapentadol, dihydrocodeine, codeine.
It works for morphine too, but only in lower doses because of its comparably to other mentioned agonists higher affinity.
So it works for codeine too, because morphine and m-3-g, m-6-g etc are limited because of parent drug self-inhibiting metabolism.

If you've made it 38 hours, you should almost definitely be in the clear. Tramadol is also an Opioid and it is incorrect to say that it can't restart your Opioid dependence. Perhaps your doctor was meaning that the relatively small dose made this practice safe. I'm glad it worked out.
