Hello, my name is Dan Petrovitch (email: [email protected]), and I am researcher at Texas Tech University.
Please see below to learn more about this research project, which you can participate in starting today (12.18.2024).

Study Title: SROSM Study (Self-Report Online Survey Methods)
Department Name: Texas Tech University (TTU) Department of Psychological Sciences

We are looking for English-speaking adults who live in the U.S. to participate in a research study about alternative THC products (e.g., delta-8 THC, THCa). Users and non-users can participate. You will be asked to answer questions about your use of THC, cannabis, and other drugs; risk perceptions and reasons for using; and your demographics, mental and physical health, and other relevant psychological, social, and behavioral variables. This project focuses on developing new research methods—your responses will be compared to participants recruited using other methods. This research should only take up to 90 minutes to complete. 1 out of every 250 participants will win a $100 Amazon gift card; 1 out of every 2500 participants who complete the survey will win a $500 gift card; these drawings will be held by December 31st, 2025. Call Dr. Littlefield to find out more information about this research study: 806-834-3746. This study has been approved by the TTU Institutional Review Board.

Can you take the survey on an Android smartphone or would a desktop PC be advised?
Either platform should be fine, as it is hosted on Qualtrics, which allows for mobile and desktop. You might get slightly better performance on desktop. Thanks for your interest in the study!

Thanks, I'm planning on participating sometime later today.

I appreciate it! The link to the $100 GC drawing email form is on the bottom of every page and on the second-to-last page—the link to the $500 GC drawing email form is on the second-to-last page.

90 mins !!! JESUS CRIST!!! You needs to break it up into smaller pieces and have a save and return feature!!

Hi there, thanks for your interest in the survey. A couple of points I wanted to make in reply:

1) There is a save and return feature (detailed in the informed consent) -- you can simply close the survey and come back at any point within 72 hours and resume taking it. Every time you edit the survey it resets that clock.

2) You don't have to complete the entire survey to participate in the $100 gift card drawing -- the link is to enter your email (separate form) is at the bottom of every survey page, and you can stop participating at any point.

3) I actually just received ethics approval to change the advertisement and have not had a chance to do so yet -- we have enough data to now say the average completion time is under 60 minutes, not 90 minutes.

I hope this extra information is useful to you, and thank you again for letting me post about the survey and participate in your community

I thought this saved where we left off? I tried a few hours ago and I figured I'd just go back and try to do a little more on it again but it still says 0% and I don't think it took me back to where I left off

When it asked about if you feel like you could get a DUI for driving under the influence of what do they call it Delta 8 non cannabis products. I take this to mean not real pot the fake stuff Delta 8 that you can buy in a smoke shop. Are they asking if my lifestyle I could get a DUI? Or do they mean a person who is smoking that stuff could get a DUI? Because I believe that person smoking that stuff would get a DUI but I don't smoke it so I could never get a DUI

Welcome to BL

ok. YOU OWE ME FOR THIS...I SWEAR it's making me repeat WHOLE PAGES and questions!! I'm about 90% done and this is pissing me off. If you want people to complete it enough your willing to pay for it then don't make it so hard

how do you know who completed this survey? nowhere did it ask for any of my information

Hi,

I'm sorry that you've had a frustrating experience with this study.

I'll try to address all your comments here in one thread.

1) Regarding saving where you left off, yes, I can confirm that this feature is enabled.

2) About the DUI questions, they are asking about your perception of whether somebody could get a DUI when driving under the influence of the substances mentioned.

3) In terms of repeating questions, the survey asks about the same use patterns, motives, and risk perceptions for hemp-derived cannabinoids (e.g., delta-8) vs. cannabis -- so there are repeated blocks, but they are asking about different drugs, which is explained in the instructions.

4) Regarding knowing who completed the survey, it's a completely anonymous survey, so I have no idea who completed it. At the end of the survey, there are separate links to follow to put your email address in for the gift card drawings (as well as at the bottom of every page for the $100 drawing). If you did not see these/click on them to enter your email, then you're not entered in the drawing.

***If this is the case, I am happy to help you get entered into the drawings--just message me privately and I will help you to get it sorted out.

If you'd prefer not to message me privately to enter into the drawings, you are welcome to click through the survey without answering to access the links, click on them, and input your email address into both form.

I hope these answers help somewhat

I did read all of the instructions I had to to understand what was going on. And I believe for some reason it brought back whole pages of questions and made me repeat them. No it never gave me a spot to enter my email address I don't think they like me to enter it here so what should I do? [email protected]

I apologize for the delayed response here.

I've entered your email address into both the participation ($100 Amazon GC) and completion ($500 Amazon GC) drawings. We'll hold these drawings before 12.31.2025.

Thanks for your participation in the study!
