Bupe Buprenorphine as a recreational drug?

I still get some fun effects from bupe even having been an opioid user for years and recently been heroin dependant for like a month or so. Right now I take like 1mg a day, I've gotten it down from 3mg or so and plan to keep going down. I get some sedation and a buzz, a little warmth and itch. Sometimes even a bit of a nod, especially when I IV it (0.5 to 0.8mg IV and snort the rest to get up to 1mg). Agreed its definitely nothing like shooting heroin or oxy or any other better opioid, but Buprenorphine still gives me a little high. Lower doses do more especially when IV'd. It's weird.
As for making bupe more recreational....antihistamines and weed for me. Also shooting it helps, feels way better for me but I'm weaning myself off needles so I don't exclusively IV it. Everyone is very different and that's probably the most important thing I've gathered from this thread. Many people saying its not recreational and many saying it is....personally I think it is. It's not amazing, it's really nothing like Oxy, Hydromorphone or Heroin but it's still recreational and I like it alot. Also it's super cheap atleast for me.
I agree sort of. Everyone has their own subjective idea of "recreational" is too.

Bupe still makes me feel different even after 8 years of daily use. Is it enjoyable? Not really, but it must be, otherwise I wouldn't keep taking it every day. I think it offers some mental stabilization for me, more so than a high. Having compared full agonists with bupe though, I still find most full agonists way more enjoyable than bupe.

Although if I had no tolerance & some one offered me 10mg of hydrocodone or 2mg of bupe, I'd personally go with the bupe. It'd be waay stronger, probably more euphoric, way longer lasting...Hydrocodone just makes me zone out really & feels kind of dirty. It also only lasts like an hour & then you need to redose & redosing hydrocodone can be difficult. But bupe can actually get me chit-chatty, energized, etc..

Agree with the last part, and semi agree with the middle statement, it feels like some days it just serves to make me feel normal and stable mentally and physically. Sometimes I do get a little high though like I said but yeah not always. And definetely, full agonists are way better except the weaker ones like hydrocodone, codeine, tramadol etc.
At the end of the day its better than spending 100 dollars every day on Heroin and constantly trying to get money for that and making the journey 2 hours to southern stockholm to get it every day. Pretty tiring and draining for the wallet for sure. Id take a drug that only sometimes gets me high but always makes me feel normal and is way cheaper and easier to get than having to go through the heroin ordeal every day. Almost clean for 2 weeks now so thats a step...

Yeah I actually got into bupe a long time ago because it was waaay cheaper than getting a bag of heroin. It kept me out of withdrawals longer too.
A 50 bag of heroin would last me like.. a day, maybe 2 days if I was lucky. But 1 8mg strip for 10 bucks could get me partially buzzed for a whole week.

That was back when I had low tolerance though because my use was sporadic. Bupe was actually kind of enjoyable back then honestly. With low tolerance it can feel very similar to heroin or other opioids, just more mild. Like I rarely feel "content" on bupe like I did on heroin, but it gets me close, or at least it did back then.

I'd probably find it more enjoyable if I hadn't been using it every day for the past 8 years. lol It's definitely more economically viable than having to buy brown all the time, although brown will always be waay better.

I personally like tramadol though. I was addicted/dependent on tramadol for 10 years. Trams use to get me nodding & itching just like heroin. Completely obliterated my depression too. Much better & longer lasting than hydrocodone. But once I started messing with heroin & bupe, tramadol lost a lot of it's magic. I got to use some recently after wisdom tooth extraction. It was enjoyable still but nothing as magical as when it was my main drug through out my 20's. I think I'd still take tramadol over bupe, but that's just my personal preference. I actually kinda wish they'd let people use tramadol as a maintenance drug, or augment their bupe with some tramadol. It would help with cravings & offer much better effects. If I could use bupe & tramadol, I might actually not even think about heroin anymore. But alas, we live in a rotten society that thinks we shouldn't have the right to put into our bodies what we want.

For sure. Gonna try to stick to bupe personally because life now is way better in many ways now that I'm not constantly chasing heroin. Once I can build up a good daily routine I'll try and drop the bupe too
Interesting about tramadol, I've liked it occasionally, it gets the job done, but I prefer codeine to it and back when I had a low tolerance it was my last resort. Very cheap in Sweden so I have bought it a few times but I never loved it that much. It is super popular here, people love it. I found it kinda dirty feeling, and the seizure risk scared me especially when I was younger with a lower tolerance and taking large amounts of it.
I remember the first time I did buprenorphine, I had one 8mg pill and it lasted me a week and a half. I got SO fucking high on like 1mg, nodding uncontrollably with a beautiful itch and minimal nausea and super intense euphoria for 12 hours. It was great. Doesn't hit me like that anymore, that was the first opioid binge I had where I was nodding every night, before I had binged codeine but never really nodded like that. It was when I really realized how great opioids were. Wasn't as good as hydromorphone but I was very happy with how cheap it was and how long it lasted
