I am honored and humbled to be able to wish Bluelight this very happy birthday. Bluelight has been around for 25 years now, in various names and forms. BL is older than some of our users at this point. From MDMA Clearinghouse, to bluelight.ru, to our current Bluelight.org. We owe our userbase a massive debt for all of the incredible contributions over the years.

This is one of the most visible and active places on the internet and in the World for harm reduction. BL's legacy is palpable, and it's also still being crafted. Bluelight is truly coming into it's own to this day, now a registered charity in Australia. And the site has always been operated and sustained by it's own members, which has helped build such an amazing and open collaborative community.

This community is incredibly important to me, personally. I browsed the site at a time when I was completely alone. I knew I had a lot to learn about life, but it always felt like the world was holding back on me, not giving me the full story. Not here. This was somewhere I could be honest. Eventually I became more active, began volunteering here, and still help operate the website nearly 5 years later. I couldn't leave if I wanted to. I found a home and connections here that I never would have found anywhere else, and I care about every single one of you more than I could ever express.

We have come so far, and it's all because of you. I'm sending out a ton of love to every current and former Bluelight member and staff. You all have my gratitude. And I want to hear more from you.

What brought you to Bluelight and what kept you here? How has the site helped you? Do you have a favorite memory from Bluelight over the past 25 years? This is an open ended discussion to reflect on your experiences and feelings about the site.

Let's see where the next 25 years take us <3:love::alien:

@deficiT what a brilliant tribute!

I joined BL in 2002 when I was a lot younger and keen to better understand and research the substances I was taking. I was and am still a drug nerd. And weirdly I managed to get a job as a drug nerd (drugs research that is!). Who would have thought such jobs exist?

I got involved staffing BL in 2007 and have continued to help and then ending up with this leadership position - but really, Bluelight is actually community led and it is every one of you community members who gets involved who makes this place what it is. I'd say I'm more of a facilitator or a 'shepherd' than an 'executive director'.

I love hearing all the stories about how Bluelight has been an important part of people's lives, so please feel free to share them, at this moment of our 25th anniversary.

Happy birthday BL! One of my cringey moments was sexting in DM,then Almost sent it to the wrong person, then realizing that everything is read by admin anyway.

Some users will always be older then Bluelight, other side of the medal.
But happy birthday BB may you serve the young generation, the future of earth.
As it did for me 🫶 and after i leave, RIP, gone. Bluelight still going on.

Amazing how this site atm is blazing,
don t forget we where also once hosted from that remote island.
Back in the day of Nuie https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niue or bluelight.nu
[ or is that old age setting in and something totally made up by my brain ]

Lurked from around 2003, joined 2006. So missed that 4/ 5 beginning years.
I was 25 att Bluelight was born. Wonder what left of that past ?
Is it in the Shrine, is MDMA clearin house still online ?

🎉

Good work crew btw, the machinery behind it all.

i joined bluelight in july 2002 - over 22 years ago! it seems crazy to say that out loud or write it down.

i was living in san francisco, ca and was in the middle of something of a substance discovery phase. mostly mdma and acid but there was some coke and so-called 'research chemicals' like 2-ci, 2-cb, 5-meo-dipt and 5-meo-dmt.

a friend got in pretty deep with meth and the effects of that, on both him and our social circle, were hard to navigate. i went looking for some answers and found bluelight.nu.

.nu became .ru then became .org and here we are :)

there's so much amazing history in the online community but, in many ways, my time on bluelight has been measured by the varied, weird, and wonderful experiences i've had with bluelighters 'irl'

there are way, way too many to mention but some will always be cherished memories

crazy sf adventures with, among many others, ~*geNeRaTiOn E*~, @lterego, Average Whiteboy, buzzy, chrizzie, dexterMeth, ebola?, finder, fruitfly, gentleman loser, Indelibleface, lapdawg, liquidocean, libelula, mariposa420, morninggloryseed, n4k33n, playabandita, purplefirefly, Winding Vines, yeux and zephyr

an incredible weekend of drugs and friends at starscape in 2007-ish. i drove down from boston and picked up mariposa420 and sboogie along the way. i shared a room with TheLoveBandit and met oh so many amazing people in a short time including alykitty, animal_cookie, atlas, BBB, BiKandeRaver, BugOutKid, EbowTheLetter, ego_loss, erosion, furnac, gmni13 (or maybe that was that one time at coachella?), junglejuice, kittyinthedark, liquidphil1 (again, maybe coachella?), michael, New, PLURmonster, ryanlaughlin, Sara, Spencer, Spinkle, Squeaks, Squirt, Stasis, syymphonatic, tranceaddiKt, Trixieee and vibr8tor

a short but special weekend on the west coast of scotland with felix and kate. we went on a night time adventure full of mdpv (i think :) ) and watched the sun come up over the harbour

a wonderful, and long overdue, weekend in sc with herbavore

a sadly short beer session in a pub in brixton with Infinite Jest

a sadly short dinner in boston with Sebastians_ghost

shout out also to xtcxtc - a bluelighter to whom we all owe a debt - and with whom i had a wonderful, but sadly short, online relationship. his wisdom, stories and generosity were inspirational.

i can't possibly do my bluelight experience justice in words here. thanks to all who've helped shape this incredibly community over the years.

@alasdairm that s what my wonders where about, you gave very good inside view.

Wish been there many fameliar names one missin imo, Phreexs [he did write it somewhat diff]
However his story s, like written glue. They read like butter, but also were a obvious do as i say not as i do.
He was not promoting what he did, almost killed him i believe, the reason he took a step back 🤙

But that guy had the most outragious story s, maching 'Fear and Loathing ... '
Like many others but it was the info that was the main reason i came and found what i was lookin for.
Everyone said "yeah he is again on his druggy site"
Harm reduction maybe they didn t get the concept yet, do did get some from me.
They piled BB with all the drugs ... this drugs ... that sites.

It wasn t BLUELIGHT 🏆 nr. 1

I've been here since I was 16 in 2005! This site has defined my life in so many ways. Happy bday to bluelight
So you basickly a youngsta, i was 32 then.

Lets stop starting to sense a false sense. The sense of aging like Wine and Cheese.
The time it takes between waking and being awake. Sure there are advantages, well get me a woman then !

We can explore the wonders of human aging.

My most fond memory of bluelight was meeting @Captain.Heroin and video chatting with him and others. He was someone I immediately connected with on a personality level, but he also had a way of making me feel like I was at home, as if I was talking to a best friend that I had known for decades.

It was then that I realized bluelight could benefit my life in ways other than simple harm reduction; it was the wonderful people and community, a place I feel like I can immediately relate to, where I can share my darkest secrets or talk about the tribulations of addiction and not feel judged by anyone. It was a desperately required connection I needed at the time. It saved my life. I probably wouldn't be here typing this had I not made that connection. I wish I could tell you that, man.

Bluelight is such a wonderful, wacky, compassionate, real and honest group of people. That's the true wonder for me, and I don't think it gets celebrated enough. An encyclopedic database of life saving knowledge is just icing on the cake to me. I am afraid I may not ever find another place or group of people quite like it.

Wasn t there also a Captain_Herion, someone who registered under influence, typo.

Some point there was a Captain_Heroin are those the same or .... is it my aging brain again.
Certain there was a Herion which kinda put a smile on me as it sounded nice too.

Happy Birthday BL!What to say?.....A legendary place....circle of life......and death......hope,empathy,sometimes beefs, pain and sorrow,desperation...a huge library of knowledge, human fates and emotions......a real and unreal in the same time...surreal.....a lie and true entangled in a ball, which lies somewhere in the infinite web....just beyond words☮️

I cant believe BL has been around that long. Ive been on there since 2006 though which was a fucking long time ago. Like holy fuck that was 18 years ago i was only 26 then ffs.

I have alot of fond memories with BL. Sadly since i live in Newfoundland i have only been able to meet up with 2 BLers so far. Noone on the internet much less BL are from here lol. One person was from here the other i met in Ottawa when i was up there. Both of them where cool people.

I have also had the pleasure of talking to alot of Blers on BL discord vc. It's awesome to get to talk to BLers all around the world. You get people from Australia, Asia, South America everywhere really. Thanks to BL i have friends from around the world. The best friend i have is a Bler from Australia that i met back when i first joined. Alot of my really good friends i met through Bl
