Out of breakthrough pain meds and only 2 fentanyl patches left to last till 18th.... FUCK ME!!! What can i do to get a little extra pain relief out of used fentanyl patches?.... and fuck me I forgot when I put this last patch on... usually I put them on based on calendar... but I put extra one on sooner because I was almost out of breakthrough meds....which ISN'T BREAKTHROUGH AT ALL...IT'S 30 mg morphine irx4a day, but IT DOESN'T HELP 90%of my days. I have chronic debilitating fatigue on top of my pain. What can I do? How much meds left in patches...I never actually take the old ones off...I know... sounds deadly, but I don't feel ANYTHING off these patches... NOTHING!!!! 25mcg

I've heard of people using dxm to lower tolerance but not exactly sure if it works. Not sure what that ex user means though

As for the patches I've known people that chewed up their old patches. Not swallow them(swallow spit though)just chewed for a bit so any fentanyl left could be absorbed in the mouth.

I have actually investigated this tolerance thing! It is very interesting. We don't exactly have scientific proof that DXM lowers opioid tolerance, but it is natural assumption from all the studies there are, and I wish that will be studied too some day. Many people swear by it, tho'.

The point is, when both glutamate and agonist that activates the neuron are present, the neuron is temporarily shut off. This causes tolerance. If either is missing, the neuron will carry on its job like always. This mechanism applies to most neurons humans have, but maybe not all of them. This is certain, studied thing.

You can prevent the glutamate of binding to neuron with DXM. You can't completely prevent tolerance with reasonable, medicinal use, either you do too much DXM, which is unhealthy, and eventually makes you tolerant to DXM, or gain at least some tolerance, but it could help you. In addition to that, DXM has some properties that help pain in and of itself.

I have read some people telling DXM immediately has boosted buprenorphine significantly, it might be, but I don't know why. For that reason too, I suggest starting with low dose (after investigating DXM, I don't know if you have any conditions that would render it dangerous. Ask your pharmacist if you are uncertain, but don't tell why you want it, they won't get it). I don't have idea about reasonable protocol that would maintain its effectiveness through the years.

Blackseed oil
Kratom &akuamma ultra low dose cause antag(look into it can mess with tolerance)
Antihistamines
Black pepper & Turmeric
Bacopa
Kava
Valerian
Edit: like they said, DXM
Corydalis
Chitosan is supposed to increase nasal bioavail
DLPA
Stephania tubers (hasubanan alkaloids)
Chaste berry is supposed to have very mild opioid affinity

Low doses of DXM can sort of potentiate opiates, but in my experience, it mostly just potentiates the sedating effects.

However, large doses of DXM do bring tolerance down a bit IME. But this requires tripping doses of DXM, which I'm not sure OP is familiar with doing. DXM trips can be pretty scary too if you've never done it before either.

In my experience. after a DXM trip, whatever opioid I'm using is potentiated exponentially, including the euphoric & pain relieving effects. However your tolerance to the opioid jumps right back up with daily use anyway.

Dextromethorphan like 45 - 60 mg?
🫢🫣🫡 Like auvelity??? As in 1st antidepressant fda approved to work within 7 days... like the antidepressant I've supposed to have been using for last couple years!!!..... auvelity has wellbutrin and dextromethorphan....I just clicked to remembering the 2 ingrediants... I'm gonna go do some re-reading again to be sure... and take my antidepressant

Yes like Auvelity.

I was on Auvelity for a year too.

Unfortunately I found that the buproprion (welbutrin) in it, often blocked a lot of the mental effects (including pain relief) from opioids. It's really just the dextromethorphan that you want. The buproprion will actually slow the DXM metabolize & make it stronger, but you'll still have that buproprion in you blocking any dopamine release or pleasurable effect from your pain meds (at least in my experience) and even the DXM itself. You'd be better off with just DXM.

I didn't find that auvelity helped my depression at all either. Just made me feel weird & kinda sick to my stomach, while blocking what little effect I can get from my buprenorphine. But then again, I use to go on 600-900mg DXM trips pretty consistently, so I don't think the mild dosages in Auvelity really did much for me at that point.
DXM by itself had antidepressant effects, but that's because it didn't have buproprion in the mix blocking the pleasurable effects.

I don't think the manufacturers & makers of Auvelity took that into account. They just wanted an FDA approved "dissociative" drug for depression that people can take home, unlike esketamine that people have to take at a ketamine clinic.

Maybe it'd help you though.

I don't take buepriprion is welbutren!? sorry for late reply I don't get on here often.

ok. so I've been out of my pain meds for 3 days and a friend gave me suboxone said it would help with the pain... DIDN'T. GOT WORSE!!! took EVERYTHING in my arsenal including two Gabapentin 600 mg together to the naproxen sodium and three extended release ambient Tizanidine and lay down to go to sleep finally felt a lot better when I woke up

Oh and also the THC vape

sorry... almost forgot the reason I came back so the suboxone that she gave me how long will that stay in my system only took 4 mg strip... I took it about 6:00 p.m. yesterday how long will it continue to mess with my medications today. She told me to wait till tomorrow to take any of my pain meds so I did but what I see on the internet is it's going to keep my medications from working for 3 days. Is that right?

Opiates should begin to work again maybe like 2-3 days after taking Suboxone. Could be more, could be less, everyone is different and tolerance is a factor.

Yes, bupropion is the generic name for Wellbutrin
