Bible verse of the day!! Get your daily study on.

Psalms 2:1-12

Why this uproar among the nations, this impotent muttering of the peoples?
Kings of the earth take up position, princes plot together against Yahweh and his anointed,
'Now let us break their fetters! Now let us throw off their bonds!'
He who is enthroned in the heavens laughs, Yahweh makes a mockery of them,
then in his anger rebukes them, in his rage he strikes them with terror.
'I myself have anointed my king on Zion my holy mountain.'
I will proclaim the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, 'You are my son, today have I fathered you.
Ask of me, and I shall give you the nations as your birthright, the whole wide world as your possession.
With an iron scepter you will break them, shatter them like so many pots.'
So now, you kings, come to your senses, you earthly rulers, learn your lesson!
In fear be submissive to Yahweh;
with trembling kiss his feet, lest he be angry and your way come to nothing, for his fury flares up in a moment. How blessed are all who take refuge in him

Be free of it now in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Second Thessalonians 3:6-10

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge you, brothers, to keep away from any of the brothers who lives an undisciplined life, not in accordance with the tradition you received from us.
You know how you should take us as your model: we were not undisciplined when we were with you,
nor did we ever accept food from anyone without paying for it; no, we worked with unsparing energy, night and day, so as not to be a burden on any of you.
This was not because we had no right to be, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to imitate.
We urged you when we were with you not to let anyone eat who refused to work.

Psalms 3:1-8

Yahweh, how countless are my enemies, how countless those who rise up against me,
how countless those who say of me, 'No salvation for him from his God!
But you, Yahweh, the shield at my side, my glory, you hold my head high.
I cry out to Yahweh; he answers from his holy mountain.
As for me, if I lie down and sleep, I shall awake, for Yahweh sustains me.
I have no fear of people in their thousands upon thousands, who range themselves against me wherever I turn.
Arise, Yahweh, rescue me, my God! You strike all my foes across the face, you break the teeth of the wicked.
In Yahweh is salvation, on your people, your blessing!

First Corinthians 1:17-25

After all, Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom of language, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.
The message of the cross is folly for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are on the road to salvation it is the power of God.
As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of any who understand.
Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do you not see how God has shown up human wisdom as folly?
Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognize God through wisdom, it was God's own pleasure to save believers through the folly of the gospel.
While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,
we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentiles foolishness,
but to those who have been called, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the power of God and the wisdom of God.
God's folly is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.

Mark 7:1-8

The Pharisees and some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered round Him,
and they noticed that some of His disciples were eating with unclean hands, that is, without washing them.
For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, keep the tradition of the elders and never eat without washing their arms as far as the elbow;
and on returning from the market place they never eat without first sprinkling themselves. There are also many other observances which have been handed down to them to keep, concerning the washing of cups and pots and bronze dishes.

So the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, 'Why do Your disciples not respect the tradition of the elders but eat their food with unclean hands?'
He answered, 'How rightly Isaiah prophesied about you hypocrites in the passage of scripture: This people honors me only with lip-service, while their hearts are far from me.
Their reverence of Me is worthless; the lessons they teach are nothing but human commandments.
You put aside the commandment of God to observe human traditions.'

Luke 4:16-23

He came to Nazarath, where He had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day as He usually did. He stood up to read,
and they Handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll He found the place where it is written:
The spirit of the Lord is on Me, for He has anointed Me to bring the good news to the afflicted. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to captives, sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,
to proclaim a year of favor from the Lord.
He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
Then He began to speak to them, 'This text is being fulfilled today even while you are listening.'
And He won the approval of all, and they were astonished by the gracious words that came from His lips. They said, 'This is Joseph's son, surely?'
But He replied, 'No doubt you will quote me the saying, "Physician, heal yourself," and tell He, "We have heard all that happened in Capernaum, do the same here in your own country." '
And He went on, 'In truth I tell you, no prophet is ever accepted in his own country.

Luke 4:31-37

He went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath.
And His teaching made a deep impression on them because his word carried authority.
In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean devil, and he shouted at the top of his voice,
'Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God.'
But Jesus rebuked it, saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!' And the devil, throwing the man into the middle, went out of him without hurting him at all.
Astonishment seized them and they were all saying to one another, 'What is it in His words? He gives orders to unclean spirits with authority and power and they come out.'
And the news of him traveled all through the surrounding countryside.

James 2:1-5

My brothers, do not let class distinction enter into your faith in Jesus Christ, our glorified Lord.
Now suppose a man comes into your synagogue, well-dressed and with a gold ring on, and at the same time a poor man comes in, in shabby clothes,
and you take notice of the well-dressed man, and say, 'Come this way to the best seats'; then you tell the poor man, 'Stand over there' or 'You can sit on the floor by my foot-rest.'
In making this distinction among yourselves have you not used a corrupt standard?
Listen, my dear brothers: it was those who were poor according to the world that God chose, to be rich in faith and to be the heirs to the kingdom which he promised to those who love him.

"But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8

Matthew 6:33

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you

I take that to mean do the right thing, be kind, help when you can. Then all other things will come without effort. Now no one does that without a strong faith. But I have seen that work in my life. Our actions count for a lot. So much so that self reflective people could lose sleep over an action they did and wished they hadn't. The non reflective people are just ignorant stones that do whatever they want even if it harms another. We see that too. But reflection WILL come at some point. No escape. Might as well do it now.

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in
earth."
- is actually HUGE!

Luke 10:25-37

And now a lawyer stood up and, to test Him, asked, 'Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'

He said to him, 'What is written in the Law? What is your reading of it?'

The lawyer replied, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.'

Jesus said to him, 'You have answered correctly, do this and life is yours.'

But the man was anxious to justify himself and said to Jesus, 'And who is my neighbor?'

In answer Jesus said, 'A man was once on his way down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of bandits; they stripped him, beat him and then made off, leaving him half dead.

Now a priest happened to be traveling down the same road, but when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

In the same way a Levite who came to the place saw him, and passed by on the other side.

But a Samaritan traveler who came on him was moved with compassion when he saw him.

He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. He then lifted him onto his own mount and took him to an inn and looked after him.

Next day, he took out two denarii and handed them to the innkeeper and said, "Look after him, and on my way back I will make good any extra expense you have."

Which of these three, do you think, proved himself a neighbor to the man who fell into the bandits' hands?'

He replied, 'The one who showed pity towards him.' Jesus said to him, 'Go, and do the same yourself.'

Galatians 3:7-14

Be sure, then, that it is people of faith who are the children of Abraham.

And it was because scripture foresaw that God would give saving justice to the gentiles through faith, that it announced the future gospel to Abraham in the words: All nations will be blessed in you.

So it is people of faith who receive the same blessing as Abraham, the man of faith.

On the other hand, all those who depend on the works of the Law are under a curse, since scripture says: Accursed be he who does not make what is written in the book of the Law effective, by putting it into practice.

Now it is obvious that nobody is reckoned as upright in God's sight by the Law, since the upright will live through faith;
and the Law is based not on faith but on the principle, whoever complies with it will find life in it.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by being cursed for our sake since scripture says: Anyone hanged is accursed,
so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the gentiles in Christ Jesus, and so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
