I'm 29, and it's like a switch has turned on with me really strongly in the last year where I just don't want to go out anymore period. Whether that be to music events, bars, house parties, etc. Now I get annoyed with noise and crowds, and no real stimulation from it. I went to a rave a month ago for the first time in about a year and couldn't wait to get out of there. It's like I've done a complete 180. I was thinking maybe it's depression related, but I feel the same way when I'm in a stable mood. Another aspect is that I don't enjoy the effects of alcohol at all, it's not relaxing and just feels terrible on my body. Even higher end places don't really excite me anymore and I prefer to occupy my time in other ways, and avoid spending the money. Nowadays, I mainly just prefer being in nature and doing outdoor sports. Do I sound like a rotten old man or can anyone relate?

people change all the time.
some more, some less.
some go in one direction, some in another.
and there are many reasons behind those changes.

as long as you enjoy being in nature and doing outdoor sports, i think there is no need for you to worry. those are healthy activities.
stop overthinking it, and just accept the change without paying too much attention to things like your age, or what society expects you to enjoy at this point in your life.
overthinking only takes the fun out of things.

yes. i found that stupid even at 22.
it would have to be something really, really special for me to go events where drinks were unreasonably expensive even though back then i had the money.

Ya back when i was 22 beer wasent that much at a bar but now its a fortune. I couldnt even guess how much like a expensive drink like a white Russian would cost now

Also why would i go to a bar and go outside anytime i want a smoke or a joint when i can stay home in my house? Not to mention the other bullshit that goes to going to a bar

TO BE HONEST,, i cant go to parties/events by myself now ;_;

went 2 a HORRIBLEEEE $50-to-get-in frat party on a whim. ended up crying by myself and going home after liike 2 hrs at most.. BAD. went w/o BF 0/10. Nobody liked me LMAO idk.

and i tried going to Phoenix Emo Nite recently, Sorta More of my speed.. millionaires band playing that night etc etc... but while i complimented a lotta people (GENUINELY i do this normally alos....) and tried to socialize, NOBODY cared abt me again Went by myself also...
ended up leaving early (I LEFT BEFORE THE SHOW EVEN STARTED!!!), going 2 a vape shop rq(bought: dispo strawberry vape + "thca" joint wrapped in kief (AKA weed. it was weed lmao)) then lyfted to my GOOD online friend+their girlfriend's house As i hadnt seen the Internet friend (bon) IRL in 7 months EXACTLY,.. and uh. Their GF they just started dating, and i wanted 2 meet them also!!

THAT was A BLAST!!!!! the two of them (bon + melody) are autistic like me also, and i've known bon for 3.5 years now.. WE HAD FUN... smoked the Joint together, and melody was super awesome to meeet!!!!!!! 10/10.

I think the problem for me, WHY i don't go out w/o my bf now, is because... DESPITE KNOWING MOST SOCIAL SKILLS,, i dont know how to perform them?!?!? i am MEDIUM SUPPORT NEEDS/low support needs sorta . autistic (HATE the"functioning" label scale for MANY reason, however, if u think "high/low functioning" autistic IS a thing, pretend I'm smack dab in the middle of those 2 labels.. for reference) I NEED HELP BEING A HUMAN,,, hence why i live w my bf + his parents and get support from my parents DESPITE THEM SUCKINF A lot also tbh etc..

PEOPLE ARENT NORMALLY AUTISTIC AT THESE EVENTS... i believe, truly, no one at events/outside,, care about me ultimately, Like how my BF/friends from... Internet do. Ive met a LOTTT of my internet/discord friends IRL, mind You, and theyve been MUCH more sweet and compassionate than Most people i meet irl, sadly.. i cannot really connect w most Allistic / not autistic people 95% of the time (MY BF IS AN EXCEPTION SINCE HES A HUUUGE ALLY AND HAS KNOWN HIS AUTISTIC IRL BEST FRIEND SINCE WAAAYA BEFORE MEETING ME.SO)

sorry immmm rambling im HIGH and ADDERALL'd and feel stupendous. IVE BEEN. THINKING ABOUT ALLA THIS SOOO MUCH RECENTLY ALSO.. WAH

yerp the end

last time I was at a high end place, and the bill for two people was a hundred dollars, i decided i'd fucken had enough

It depends on the place I'm at and where I'm going to party. I've definitely slowed down a lot compared to my 20s.

Because I’m a parent now the only time we go out is with another couple (who’s wee girl is our daughter’s friend and in the same class). Funny enough we just organised going for food in a local Chinese in a few weeks.

Also going out to a local bar (that’s quiet) with the dad (mentioned above) the week before. We try and go for beers/cocktails once a month just for a few hours peace haha.

Any time I have a free house i wouldn’t dream of going out tbh. Rather stay in and watch something.

But that’s what getting older does I suppose. Just do what makes you happy.

I use to drink a lot but stopped around the age of 30 and quickly realised that most bars clubs etc are actually complete sensory overload for me and impossible to enjoy without some sort of gaba agonist smoothing out the edges.

I do still like going to concerts if it's a band I like, and quieter bars like cocktail bars can be nice from time to time.

Thank you " Just do what makes you happy."
Father time marches on!
The world is a very complicated and Hard place now. I try and stay in the now, no past no future, just right where my feet are. I focus on what i am doing now.

Out is not my thing anymore.

As a foreigner in the country I live even more. Plus nowadays I have a kid and the best wife ever and we recently purchased a house in a small countryside place with the purest air and surrounded by lakes and forests. I totally enjoy taking some beers during the evenings with some good sativa and I just love being at home. Buuuut I spent quite many months(up to 6+) living on cruise ships (as a musician ) so finding peace at home is something really important for me !

But anyway even without my job at the age of 42 I think I’m done with bars clubs and parties .

Yep. To hell with people,no offense.

I never go to the city anymore. F..k traffic, f..k lines. F..k tourists, selfies, social media, politics, fake smiles and small talk.

Small towns rock. The country side Is just asking to be explored. Lakes, creeks, hills and mountains just around my area.

I'd like to visit the azors some day.

When I turn 30 will I become a miserable shut in like the rest of you guys?:( I like going out but I guess I can still relate to some of the things people are saying in this thread... sometimes I'll go out drinking or go to a party and not be having any fun at all, and seeing everybody else managing to be social and enjoying themselves makes me feel somewhat defficient as a person. At that point I usually just start drinking until I'm basically forced to talk to people.

currently 23 and feel the same way. Havent left home except for work/college for almost 2 years, the exception being close friends's birthdays.... Guess it had a lot to do with shrooming around and realizing a bunch of shit... Once I took around 20 grams of shrooms and had the ego death and all of that (not getting into this rn) I just felt like I had no time to waste just going to clubs, drinking and feeling bad the next day... Plus I figured I might have autism/aspergers, which was not dismissed by my psychiatrist

Hey I'm not miserable kiddo. Lol I just much prefer the great outdoors to city life. Priorities change, as do goals and what brings me joy.

Plus the money I saved by moving out of town I can take way more vacations. I took no less than 18 vacations last year. In that time I visited only one city. Chicago, I hated it lol . But the train ride to Montana was lit. As it turns out all the trains go to Chicago.

I've got a cabin in Oklahoma in a national Forest. It's so secluded the silence is deafening. The bears are my only neighbors.

Oh no! Woah is me everything I've ever worked for is coming true.
And it will for you too. All of you will get whatever you want. It's your life make the best of it. Learn from those mistakes 😉 .
