I know generally opioids don't have one, but I think Codeine might due to being a pro-drug. Suely you only have x amount of whatever enzyme is needed in order to metabolise it into Morphine?

Codeines roof limit is 400-600mg personally from long past experiences going above 500 had no further effects on me.
This us to be what tripsit (dot) me, cited as the roof limit however the same page is no longer available. This information seems to only aid those in abusing the substance as such a high dosage isn't really needed as changing into a stronger opioid at least for medicinal use would be safer than such high dosages of codeine. At least in my opinion. That being said you search hard or long enough or simply know where to, you will find this information.

Depends on if you plug it or not. Lol
Well fuck me sir!

Codeine needs to be processed in the body to morphine at a rate of roughly .1 -.12 the strength of morphine so about 1/10th. This can be inhibited in about 15% of the population and some convert less or more feeling a heavier or weaker effect off the same dosage as others but this is a smaller subsect of the population only.

As for plugging codeine I assume that would be close to trying to shoot it which can prove fatal in the worse of times. I can't say this is anything but dumb but I truely would be suprised if it worked. Sure some small amount may from your blood be filtered and turned to codeine but this would be small trace amounts.

Yet I did a google search and found a paper not helping my case.

Exerpt From: NCBI - National Library of Medicine
The plasma concentrations of codeine were measured by means of HPLC analysis after a single dose of 60 mg codeine phosphate in a cross-over study in 7 volunteers. Compared with oral dosing rectal absorption from an aqueous solution or a fatty suppository produced an almost identical plasma concentration profile with similar interindividual variations. Comparing the absorption rate characteristics it appeared that rectal absorption from an alkaline solution containing codeine phosphate proceeded significantly (P less than 0.05) more rapid than after oral dosing. No essential difference in bioavailability was observed between the various rectal and oral dosage forms

She had a post. " Help, the window cleaner saw me plugging and now I have to go answer the door and pay him." or something close to that, so besides almost dying of laughter, I was almost unable to breath when I saw that.
This was a half assed joke.( pun definitely intended)

I doubt they would have done study if it was deemed dangerous, but I shall remind anyway that they did it in medical setting anyways. It might have been explained to me some time in detail but I don't remember how it really works, but what I've been claimed too, there might be risk of histamine complication upon snorting at least. So now I am interested in what's the truth.

Yeah iv heard of a lot of supposed horror stories with people and IV codeine but never actually known a person who ran the risk. I know there is a profound histamine complication upon IV and this has been medically recorded. As for snorting it i uhh really don't think much of that drugs gonna get into the blood in a converted state, if anything i feel it would be processed during excretion when it does finally run the blood through your kidneys n liver. I do believe IIRC oxy and codeine as such are processed for the most part in and by the kidneys where morphine and such is a far more liver heavy drug. Yet id happily be proven wrong, don't think id ever try using my codeine any way but orally though tbh.

In 2010 (as someone completely opioid-naive* and NOT trying to get high) I was a few weeks into sobriety from alcohol and was having SEVERE issues falling asleep and my doctor was no long willing to prescribe Zopiclone for it...I remembered I had been prescribed a bunch of 15mg Codeine pills for (I don't remember) but hadn't taken many, and also remembered that the Codeine made me kinda drowsy. So I took three (45mg) and nothing really happened so I just kept taking another few pills every so often hoping they'd help me sleep. I only took about 300mg total (orally) and next thing I knew I was covered in red blotches and bleeding all over from writhing at my skin as I experienced the most intense itching of my life. My face felt weird, so I looked in the mirror in the bathroom and my face was really puffy, with my eyes swollen half-shut. I soon was lying on my back on the floor and couldn't even raise my head. I yelled for my parents to call and ambulance. The paramedics said I had the lowest blood pressure they had ever seen on someone conscious.
They gave me some IV stuff (anti-histamines, naloxone, something to raise my blood pressure) and I ended up spending 24 hours in the hospital, mostly just on IV fluids and anti-histamines.
If THAT can happen from ORAL Codeine, I wouldn't take Codeine IV even in my most desperate withdrawal situation.

*Apart from maybe taking two co-codamol (500mg acetaminophen/8mg Codeine) pills on rare occasions for pain

You sir are almost CERTAINLY allergic to codeine. All the symptoms fit. Upside is not being able to medically have it and if you have a reason for not able to use tramadol your guaranteed to only be given some stronger ones granted your not seen as an abuser as its clinically the only way to really go in that specific case.

I thought that, too, but I'm prescribed Codeine and take it every day now. Granted, I'm always itchy and feel like shit every day, but :/
I DID tell my doctor that story and all she said was "Well, you've been prescribed it several times since and never been hospitalized again or had anaphylaxis, so you can't be THAT allergic to it". I think she is of the opinion that that time I was allergic to some inactive ingredient in the pills.
I can technically take Tramadol, but it does NOTHING for me (either recreationally or as an analgesic)

lmao yes, but that was Morphine I was plugging as rectal morphine has ~2x the BA of oral Morphine

Sorry, stupid joke. However you almost gave me a heart attack; from laughing when I saw the post about the window cleaner and plugging.

I felt bad for you; But I lost it when I read that post. I genuinely felt sorry for you and the whole ( no pun intended) situation.

However, the mental image of that, was like something from a good comedy movie.

I know you have many medical issues, so I really felt bad; but in the just over 1 year on Bluelight, that was the funniest thing I have seen as a post.

Actually, since I realized you were serious, I couldn't help but almost die laughing. Even though I felt really bad for you and that situation. I am only human.

Lmao, I'm just happy I made you laugh! At the time I was mortified, but I can definitely see the funny side now.

Yeah whilst to certain medication tolerating the negative effects for the positive in fact in near all cases of medication, it is before you take anything out weighing the ups and downs cons and pros, we really don't do that enough with the OTC drugs like NSAIDs but I digress. Be an abuser or not it is if my opinion that is a terrible response to come out of a doctors mouth. If not have no history then I would seriously suggest finding another doctor with those cited reasons and legitimacy for your health and constantly taking something your allergic to overstimulating the immune system and possibly damaging any or many parts of your body in the process and you may not know until the damage is macro. Also this could be totally just benign, I personally would try opt for something you wont have such reactions to. That being said if you have a past recorded abuse history this may not work, and if you do not but are bad with your abuse of them this may also not be the best step without telling another GP your concerns and that you are there specifically for the clinical purposes not for the high.

I can't say I know that exact feeling.🤣
However there have so many things that have happened to me( when I was a drunk and when I was much younger) and luckily I have forgotten many and other ones I can just laugh at.

They were not funny at the time but, now can make for some hilarious true stories.
