☮ Social ☮ Interesting article on how Psilocybin can help people face death

I love this stuff. Watching Netflix, How To Change Your Mind on psilocybin. The Michael Pollan special. There was a John Hopkins video also by people several months away from death that had found total peace after psilocybin. Pretty powerful. My only issue is the sterile environment they had these people in. Go out and have some fun.

Funny enough in one of these there was an older guy that was saying these things should not only be available to the kids in tie dyes lol. I wanted to say yeah grandpa (which I could be now) we had fun in those tie dyes taking mushrooms and seeing The Grateful Dead. I remember the circus well and glad it continues today at festivals, new jam bands and raves. There are a lot of outlets for people to get together and have some damn fun. Not much into the retreats or shaman stuff, I am a fan of the Pranksters. :)

Just came across and read this article on how Psilocybin can be used for end-of-life patients. Doesn’t really go into depth but interesting nonetheless.

The end-of-life patients finding solace in magic mushrooms: ‘What life after life could be like’.
They do mention sortlike effects seen in patients with depression, PTSD and addiction.
Something which personal experience confirmed that they at least make the perception on life is changed in a positiv way.

To bad it doesnt seem to have the same great effect on real life, that stays just as difficult or so it seems.
But the way of looking at it seems altered by the use of psychedelics occasionally. Its eassier to handle somehow.

They pinpoint the mystical experience as the culprit of it, which is an interesting find. Not personal insight, which redirects to this what i am about to read.

Well the effect of the mystical experience they conclude, can also be causal. Further research is needed.

It is really interesting..

I heard a podcast once about a woman also with terminal cancer and anxiety for death, getting into a research project like that in the OP.
I can't seem to find the specific story, but it was so amazing. If anybody know of the story, please link :)

The woman got the psilocybin and got over her fear of death.
Then the day when she could feel her death coming, her husband all their friends and family had a goodbye party in the garden.
It ended with her dying on their sofa in the garden, wearing a Grateful Death t-shirt and their cat laying on top of her <3<3<3

I am crying just thinking and writing about that story..

Same happens with me. To see such a relief on a human being is touching. I like the John Hopkins studies too. I am all for those. It seems the scientific folks put out the most informative and heart warming results.

On the other side of the whole going mainstream what irks me is the whole ayahuasca tourism shaman stuff or retreats. I admit there could be positives. I just think that when psychedelics go into main stream the whole profit motive is there. Historically a shaman would take a psychedelic to diagnose something or heal someone else that is not tripping. (am I wrong here?) Now people go and trip themselves which they can do in their own home. No guides needed. (or as Terrance McKenna would say no more guru's please and thank you) I have nothing against traditions. I have things against people that do not have other people's well being as a priority. The John Hopkins studies seem to have the best priority.

I recommend getting the email updates from John Hopkins

Theres a book called "The human encounter with death" from the early 70s where they were giving dying patients acid and DPT

perception trumps 'reality' anyway

pfff.. Mushrooms are like an instant antidepressant. When they kick in you start laughing your head off.

It's certainly a tricky situation eh ;)
That quote from the Public Enemy song was right when i got my letter. And it said excactly what I felt.

But perception trumps indeed reality, like nobody I knew refused army service like I did, scared for their future carriers or doing it because its normal to serve. A country, even at that age, i didnt trust.

But you had to choose. Stay in school until draft is ended, replacing it with a free year of giving public service or the jail. That is the dillema they put upon you at 17/18 year old. Like a normal drilled kid would say no, at that age your mind is not yet developed. And the draft was one big manipulative thing, really had to stand in your shoes to say no.

They planning reinstating draft again, woman included I think. Not a good sign, its their war, not yours. my kids ya know fighting for this land would be embarising. Not that i symphatize with Poetin, feel real bad for Ukraine. Russians are under dictator ship of a luny.

☮️ and ❤️ is what we need, ok and some :weedleaf::bean::stamp:

That psychedelics and MDMA are scientificaly investigated, and in use in various therapy's. Or are in phase trials is good.
These trials but also the MAPS manual, seems ment for drug naieve people.
Good that development takes place as it targets a specific group.

But no guides needed seems just as useful for people that allready had their share of experience.
Had the luck that non crossed my path during while under influence. Met them on other occassions, the false ones.
D.I.Y. but a pre-aimed trip [perfect set and setting] vs just drop and see where it goes. Is in a sense debatable.

Who am i to attempt to aim a trip, instead of letting the operator do it LSD.

MDMA (or bk-MDMA/ 5-MAPB) is probably more open for pre-planning.

nice post

I was being oblique with the 'Tricky' reference and apologies if it seemed odd (must hjave done as you didn't get the reference, no wonder though as the lyric you quoted was from a tune I thought was written by Tricky (ex Massive Attack) but turns out he was covering Public Enemy - every day's a schoolday thanks!

That version was on yesterday, well i listened both. Trickys cover is perfect thats sure.

But Tricky has always bin on my playlist. Weird that although playing your post and lots of other songs after, I forot to like do it ASAP. Just think i missed the reference so you didnt seem odd.

The original I listened when 16, so the Tricky version came later so if you don't know the original. Had someting the same with 'Praise You' and the og 'Take Yo' Praise' from Camille Yarbrough.

Well I would recommend some classical music or something for a person over 60 having their first trip. Although I am 60 and would request Grateful Dead. (still going but that is how I grew up and what we had) But someone that does not listen to music (and there are people like that) I don't know what to choose if anything.

Interesting the range of different music people choose. The music thread I visit at times and just listen.

Written and recorded on psychedelics for trippers by some beautiful minds and incrediblke musicians, sonicly design for tripping - a metaphorical and incredible journey - a trilogy of albums - I very dare you (you'll never forget it tripping I guarantee)

and for some serious chill

Trips and music dont always go as expected, so my ussal music might not sound so great under influence, but I can imagine something like a real good selection of Classical music. Which is rarely on my playlist could provide a good background tune.

Right now I am curious about the 2 above, or else Lakshmi [mantra] but then the version sung by a guy and a whole queer of girls. Indian instruments and a gitar. Bit a reggea in it, and lines like "i walk these earth softly, ..."

Reminds of the label Pebbles/ Volume 3 'The Acid Gallery' LP.
[a mind blowing collection of 18 demended classics from the psychedelic sixties!].
A selection of rare recordings, from early garage surf punk, US.

Volume 3 was made after many requests for a psychedelic album.
Its the origination of Acid-Punk.

Titles like 'horror asparagus', 'the reality of (air) fried borsk', 'the spider and the fly' and 'suzy creamcheese'.
Tried listening under influence, and agree I dare you, its so weird wonder who gets furthest?
But sober its a special record/ marked a period.
Its akin to Radio Gnome Invisible. They however dont mention the release dates of the individual sungs.
Probably before 'The piper at the gates of dawn' ['67] or 'Rubber Soul´ [about '65] but I am guessing, could be otherway around.

Now I really feel the need to repair my amplifier. Got all the rest, boxes, good cooper musicwire, a bit crooked record player/ but with an Stanton needle!
A record player and a whole selection of vinyl. Even bought a life recording of Sonic Youth this year without having a set up
