So i think im going to buy a NES off ebay when i get money in october. I had one as a kid and i love those old games. Emulators just arent my thing and alot of them have viruses besides. However i am abit wary as those old nintendos sometimes didnt stand up well to aging. How do i know i am getting a good nintendo and not one thatgs going to glitch out? What do i look for and what red flags are there when buying one?

Any help would be appreciated

Something to remember is that the original NES had analog composite video out only. Make sure the monitor / TV you want to use it with supports that.

I'd look for a seller that sells video games regularly, has a good return policy and has near to 100% positive ratings. These consoles are almost 35 years old now ;)

Well i have 2 old tube style tv's here so i think they should be ok.

Ya im guessing it would be best to buy off a person selling lots of these thhings. That was im not getting one that was found in some parents attic after 35 years.

just buy the classic nintendo NES that they remade - games are already loaded on it

i have one of those - it's great

Old nintendos usually tend to get issues with the 48(?) pin connector inside, I had to refit mine with chinese knockoffs years ago. Played it for a bit, then yeah, lol. Got to finish some games I could never complete as a kid in near speedrunning times, but it's just not the same, my hands start hurting now.

Im not sure how many pins it has. I should really look ghat up i guess.

One thing is that there are some games i liked as a kid that i would never play as a adult. Id put Paperboy and teenage mutant ninja turtles in that catagory. No way am i gonna spend alll weekend now on a game thats just difficult for the sake of being difficult. Granted atleast with teenage mutant ninja turtles you can get walkthroughs now. We didnt have that luxury as a kid.

Another thing is that now we actually have other things we can do. As kids wtf did we have? Tv, radio or videogames. Tv usually sucks, so does radio as this is before x fm or whatever. So that leaves video games. Not like you could just hop on the net when you where bored of a game. There was no modern internet then. I think thats one reason why we spent whole weekends playing video games. Even with the shitty ones you still played em cause that was your whole weekend there

Some games that alot of people think are shitty i actually like. Id put friday the 13th in that category. Angry video game nerd didnt like it so i think alot of people dont like it simply for that reason. Personally i rather like it and it brings back alot of memories of many a weekend i spent at that game

That one nintendo magazine, power something? It sometimes had cheats and part walkthroughs, if I never read the combination of button presses for unlimited lives in solstice I would never have been able to beat it.

It was nintendo power. And ya there where some games i never would have beat without cheats to.

What @Cheshire_Kat said. Find a seller with a ton of positive reviews. Worth it to pay a little more if you have to in order to make sure you are getting a legit product.

SNES is more my thing but definitely love plenty of NES games as well.

let me know if you find it - i would grab an old school NES if i could find BOS

Im not buying it till like october when i get some money from the government. Havent got the extra cash now. I will def be getting Bos though. Another game i want to get is ice hockey did you play that? I remember that game so well because you could play as the Soviet Union lol. You can currently get it for about 5 bucks on ebay i think. I spent so much time playing that game and bos.

Another game i want to get is maniac mansion. That was one of my fav games on any platform. It was a pretty rare game i think as it was made by Lucas arts and all there games where kinda rare. I want to play there other games to. Maniac Mansion was such a fucked up game you could do shit like drown your friend in the pool or microwave a hamster lol

yessss it was a show filmed in toronto, was on air for a few good years iirc

back when toronto had a vibrant media industry and wasn't just knockoff amerikkka

Yes i remember that now! Im pretty sure i bought games because of the reviews on that show.

Toronto had a really good film industry back in the day. One weird thing is that when i worked at UPS in Toronto my friend there had a brother in law who was friends with david carridine. He was mental and really liked his booze and coke
