So I started amitriptyline 100mg for sleep ..I'm also on seroqel 300mg ... what are the side effects of amitriptyline?? I

Nausea, headaches, drowsiness (of course) ... dry mouth, skin rashes. Those are a few. I was on amitriptyline for awhile and it caused me to eat like crazy. I am now on seroquel. I'm surprised your doc wants you to take both, but I'm sure it depends on what you're taking them for and your past medical history.

Thank you. I've been on seroquel for a few years . Started taking 50mg for sleep at a detox center . Then my dr said I was bi polar so he uped my seroquel to 300mg . It really doesn't effect me anymore since I've been taking it for so long I think. So my dr started me on amitriptyline recently and the past few nights it just hits me like a ton of bricks !!! Fell asleep eating pop tarts!

Amitriptyline gave me horrific constipation!

Mood swings, libido loss, brain zaps... if there's an anti-depressant drug with THE most side-effects, it's amitryptaline. I firmly believe it should be schedule 1. My GP was shocked when a gastroenterologist put me on it, as he remembered when TCAs first rolled out and said, "They always relieved anxiety and depression, but people would refuse to take it because of such extreme side-effects; they'd rather be depressed."

I take the 25mg one in a. Morning 1 at tea time an 1at 8 o'clock an I don't feel any effect off them it's like a sugar pill to me oh apart from a dry mouth an that about it.

How the fuck do you take both of them together? The uncomfortable sedation and antihistamine effects from one of those drugs is bad enough imo. If i took both id be a zombie all day with a mouth as dry as the sahara

Can amitriptyline(150mg) cause hair loss?

I fucking loved my Amitriptyline… I prescribed as high as 200mg at one point. I never had any of the negative side effects really discussed here, but each person is different. Seroquel on the other hand, only 50mg, fucked my life up. I had severe issues with it, nearly instantly of starting it for sleep/depression. I’ve taken Amitriptyline for 13-14 years I’d say. The only negative side effect that really impacted me was a higher than average resting heart rate. Once I came off Amitriptyline, my resting heart rate dropped back down to the 80s.

I was once prescribed it at that dosage to help me relax and sleep. 10mg is a small dose. I was also taking opioids and I've also mixed it with ketamine. Not felt anything bad from it. I don't think it's that sedating but I am not sure since I've enver taken it without anything else in my system.
You are taking Seroquel, which is a depressant substance too so the most prominent side effect would be increased sedation. 10mg is a small dosage for amitriptyline anyway. It's mostly used as a sleep aid at that dose.

Don't forget blurred vision and being short tempered. Fucking hated Amitriptyline when I was on it for chronic headaches. One at night was a good sleeping pill that never stopped working, but hated the side effects. When I stopped it, I found I needed bifocals (in my early 40's). I think that I was compensating and focusing fine and not needing the bifocals until the bout with blurred vision screwed that up.

I have never been prescribed it, nor taken it long term, but i have used/abused it for sleep and/or a bit of a buzz combined with cannabis.

However, 40mg ticked both of those boxes for me and I never experienced any significant side effects.

100mg sounds a little excessive to me...

What's the optimal dose for sleep? I started at 50mg and it worked. Due to tolerance I'm now at 150mg and it doesn't work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
