💥 Contest 💥 Bluelights Favorite: Classic Rock Artist

Round Fore!!!!!!

The Rolling Stones v. Pink Floyd

Led Zeppelin v. Santana

Jimi Hendrix v. David Bowie

The Police v. Lynyrd Skynyrd
Am I too late to vote? Oh well..

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Jimi Hendrix
The Police

And once again, I think Pink Floyd is the greatest. But that's only my opinion.
As an edit... apparently the last round was Pink Floyd vs Jimi Hendrix. As much as I like Hendrix, I still vote for Pink Floyd as number one.

We'd probably be arguing for years about who the greatest classic rock artist is, something that could never be determined objectively. But, it can now be stated conclusively, Bluelights favorite classic rock artist is........

PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!

There isn't much I can say about them that you don't already know, but they are definitely one of my favorite bands ever. They have a way of communicating very complex human feelings in a beautiful and harmonic way.

Here's an awesome live video from the 70s

And one of my favorite deep cuts

As well as a short biography from their site if you're interested

Pink Floyd Bio

I invite you to join me in celebrating our favorite artist and posting your favorite tracks and concerts!

The poll is finished .. sorry I forgot to update this post with the link to the thread I made for the winner, here it is:

Honorable mention to Jimi Hendrix, who is of course, objectively the "most important" electric guitar player..

I found this clip on Facebook. There were a bunch of hacks in the comments complaining about his out of tune guitar in this clip, and the performance of the band altogether. I would rather listen to Jimi playing out of tune with a mediocre band than pretty much anyone else in a studio recording with world class musicians. He's just that fucking good. He definitely personified everything that is badass about rock music.

Depending on what theme someone uses it's impossible to read the text without highlighting it.

I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan, hardly know any of their music. But I voted for them because I knew even less Hendrix songs, and the ones I listened to (shared videos in the comp thread) weren't anything I would put on any of my playlists.

Good idea, this thread.

I see, sorry about that! I tried to spruce it up but it is difficult on mobile and I lost steam and only some of the text got colored lol. I will edit it to reflect more clearly that PINK FLOYD won the contest

I still think Hendrix should be the clear winner, but losing to a great band like Floyd softens the blow.
Yeah, well I would have voted Hendrix over just about any other artist in the bracket. He is surely the most influential musician regarding how he changed the use of the guitar. But there is just too much talent in Pink Floyd for me to deny. Overall I think the bracket went through with the best final we could have asked for. I think I even said it would end with Jimi or pink Floyd at one point? And we got both in the final. At least that says something good about our music taste here!

I'm curious what the results for the radio station in detroit were, and what year that was from?

i think ya'll were saying this was from a classic rock radio station in detroit if i remember correct.

Yes that is true. I am not sure what the results for it were though. I know that in the FB group I got it from, Queen won for them.

The Detroit radio station could've put together an interesting contest together just of classic local ( or greater Michigan) bands for best. All that great Motown, the MC5, the Stooges, Grand Funk, Alice Cooper, Bob Segar. Or done a face-off with another city

I completely agree! Jimi's talent and charisma make his performances unforgettable, regardless of any minor flaws.

I merged the two threads that were made for this contest before.

Does anyone still want to do another one like this? I could make a bracket like mal was planning on doing
