Hello bluelighters, I’ve been an avid lurker for years and learned lots of things now I ask for some advice I’ve been on olanzapine pills for a month and 2 weeks after being given it for stim induced psychosis, I’ve gained lots of weight and have lost all joy in life weed and other drugs have stopped working, would it be dangerous if I just stopped taking it, what should I expect? I’m under no court order. The pill is 10MG I have anhedonia could I die or have seizures from the WD, any advice is appreciated

You won't die or have seizures. You may have some anxiety and trouble sleeping. Possible tremors. But you also may not get any symptoms at all. I took 10mg olanzapine daily for a year and stopped cold turkey and did not experience any withdrawals. I did the same with haloperidol and it was a much different experience. Severe withdrawals happened.

I would stop taking the olanzapine immediately if it's having such a negative effect and you aren't being forced to take it.

Thank you so much man, I love this forum and legends like you on it who can retell there experiences to the unwise.

I was put on it for the exact same reason 10mg as well. Took it for 3 months before I did some research and learned how hard and potentially dangerous it can be to come off it. Decided to taper down with the standard doses the medication comes with and I had no trouble going from 10mg to 7.5 to 5 waiting a month each time. Waiting a month is not the standard procedure, my general practitioners guideline stated a reduction every 2 weeks is sufficient but I insisted on waiting longer between drops. Things were going well until the drop from 5mg to 2.5mg which resulted in almost 3 weeks of insomnia so I got in contact with a compounding pharmacy to drop in smaller increments of 0.5 holding that dose for a month at least then dropping again.

Now at 1.5mg many of the negative effects you described are lessened except the weight gain. I 100% recommend getting off it as soon as possible but whether or not you are going to experience withdrawal is entirely up to your own chemistry but most people can not just cold turkey safely and so I do not recommend it.
