Hi all
I have been off my pain meds for a few years now, and my G.P replaced them with higher dose of Pregabalin. So my question is to everyone should I go back on morphine?
I was in a car accident and broke my back but regained my movement but get pain after 2mins of standing
I am on 600mg of Pregabalin, 1200mg of carbamazepine per day and was on 80mg of sevradol and 90mg of MS contin
My problem is now that I am off the morphine my doc will not prescribe me anything except paracetamol,
I have to go to the pain clinic which is months wait
Any advice
Thanks
Pete

I stopped because I was working, but was being problematic at work, kept nodding off doing long hours in the office. So I weened myself off just for my job but ever since Covid and work from home started nodding off has not been a problem

I think you might be pushing your luck because in your mind you’re thinking that “well i quit once and if i have to quit again ill be able to do so” i consider you very lucky to be able to put them down like you did ,and maybe next time youll be on them for a longer period of time and at a stronger dose and you wont find quitting so easy…

In the beginning when i first started i was able to walk away from them also but later on in life when i kinda jumped in head first into the opiate world the only way i was able to get clean is when a judge gave me time being locked up…

Getting off and on has never been a problem for me, you have to have a strong mindset that this is not going to control your life. Where I came from growing up a lot of the times you had to go cold turkey for 3 days, because no money or no supply of brown, these pills are no different in my mind
My question was should I go back on them and go through the process of pain management again.
I was recently admitted into hospital last month where I was given oral morph and I felt like new again, I have never abused my pain medication or asked to have it increased
But
Sometimes I get these thoughts that I shouldn’t be taking them and feel dirty, all my good friends are now dead because of heroin I was the one who escaped,
