🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 What's the last film you saw? v. Why doesn’t Peter Jackson wear shoes?

The Ghost Station (2022)

Not actually too bad. Another J Horror Def inspired by Ringu and The Grudge. Only released last year so was surprised how recent it was. Check it out if you have Amazon Prime.

High Life (2018)

Probably a bit artsy-fartsy for some people’s tastes but I liked it. Directed by Claire Denis (who directed “Trouble Every Day”, another artsy-fartsy one I enjoyed), it kind of presents the film in disjointed fragments that the viewer pieces together as the story unfolds

Public Enemies: I got the 2 disc special edition used but in perfect shape for just over 4 dollars. Happy about the price, but not so much with the movie. Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors and I love movies based on true events.
However; I was disappointed mildly. Johnny Depp's performance was a bit wooden. The other characters were also wooden.
It was directed by Michael Mann ( Miami Vice). I had high hopes for this movie, but overall disappointed. Christian Bale's wooden performance was to be expected; but I acspected better from the rest of the cast.
As someone who reads a fair amount and enjoys history: I knew the ending, but didn't care.
Michael Mann directing Johhny Depp in a violent movie: I had high hopes but overall I was disappointed.

Ok, but how about plot, acting and character development ect.

The plot was good I thought, it’s about a penal colony that’s blasted into space to “investigate” (ie, fly directly into on a suicide mission) a black hole. Robert Pattinson stars, does a mostly understated but effective performance.

Isn't that the guy from those stupid Twilight movies? He apparently has worse personal hygiene habits than Johhny deep and Matthew McConaughey combined.
I am not very familiar with his work, but I saw him in something briefly and was not impressed. Besides the guy is smelly, big time.
But understated, in his case does that mean quiet, clueless and a look that says where am I?
I do like some Sci fi movies. And some artsy movies do have a certain appeal. At least you can't smell him on screen.
The plot does seem interesting. Sending a penal colony into a black hole, it makes me wonder if something happens and they are not disintegrated.

Yeah he was in Twilight. I never saw those movies though. The only ones I remember him in were this, “The Lighthouse” (also a good movie) and “Good Time”, which was kind of an homage to 70s suspense films I think.

Understated to me just means a good performance that doesn’t draw undue attention to itself…conveying emotion using limited facial expressions without coming off as wooden or without acting ability, etc

Quess what, I am not a Twilight fan. However, I should try to not hold that or his B.O. against him.( after all a bunch of actors literally stink, something about no deodorant and not bathing regularly, but I can't smell him. I guess I should give him a chance). After all Tom Hanks was the star of Bosom Buddies.
I have become skeptical, because of wooden performances from other younger actors. I saw him briefly in a movie a while back and was unimpressed, but I really didn't give him a chance.
I will try to be more open minded if he is in any movies I watch ( after all even the worst A list actor of all time, Keanu Reeves, was great in 2 movies)

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Always enjoyed this over the top cheese fest! From the Silver Surfer taking down the army, turning the pyramids to ice and snow, and Mr Fantastic and Sue just worrying about their wedding haha - this is always a good show tbh.

Zero Dark Thirty: I already knew the ending. The characters were one dimensional and frankly I just was not that impressed. I love war movies but this was rather lame.
