Synchronic (2019)

Always loved this film from the directors of Spring and The Endless, cosmic horror and a bit of time travel for good measure.

Apocalypse Now: REDUX
It was long ( about 3 hours and 15 or so minutes, minus the closing credits) However it went by quicker than I realized. Great movie, but not really a movie I would want to watch over and over again.

Before you laugh: Remember it was Sidney Poitier's last feature film. He did a TV movie and some narration, but I mean a feature film.
The Jackal: Yes there are some issues with it and it had Richard Gere with an Irish accent and was still great.
Bruce Willis was great as The Jackal.
I saw the movie; The Day of the Jackal and it was not even close to as good.
It is more of a guy action film, but this is a good one.
It has some holes in it, but even with Richard Gere being an ex-IRA sharpshooter, complete with an Irish accent it was still great.
Bruce Willis plays a mysterious high priced top professional assassin hired by the Russian Mafia.
Sidney Poitier was assistant FBI director trying to stop him with Duncan( Richard Gere) helping him stop The Jackal.
I have a copy and don't want to give away too much. But it was very entertaining and decently acted.

^ it’s entertaining but yeah, definitely some holes…I thought it was lame, after Willis told Gere that “you can’t protect your women,” that Gere figured out that the president’s wife is the target. It’s like he could’ve meant anything by that, just seemed like a bit of a stretch that he connected those dots.

Also, I just really don’t like Richard Gere generally speaking lol

But it’s not bad, all things considered

Why are you repeating what I said.
I don't like Richard Gere either, and throw in a Irish accent, bad I know.
Did I not mention there were holes in the movie? The plot and parts of it were implied.
Hey It is what it is. Besides I am a Sidney Poitier fan.
I sometimes like dumb 90's action movies.
Besides, it is what I recently watched and I not trying to get respect by writing about: A Clockwork Orange, 2001, Pulp Fiction, Guess Who's Coming to dinner, Easy Rider, The God Father parts 1&2, The Shining ect...
Sometimes I just want to relax and watch a big dumb action movie. Beside 4 dollars for a DVD when I couldn't find anything good for sale, that I hadn't seen.
Yes I saw it in the theater in college, but It was college so I had my back pack and 3, 40's in it. The theater was run by college kids, and they didn't care if I drank. I even asked and got an empty cup( a large one if I can remember correctly). I use to drink a lot when watching movies, that way I could watch them many years later and not remember it too well. Enjoying a movie more than once is always a plus for me.
Besides, I 'm a guy and like big dumb action movies( in moderation, sort of).
The part about you can't protect your women and the First Lady is only one of a countless number of plot holes. Who cares it is an action film, and If one pays attention; there are plot holes in so many films. I don't usually care, it is a fictional movie not a documentary with major issues.

I assumed you were attacking me after I made it clear that there were issues with the movie. Sorry.
I just assumed the biggest problem with the movie was Richard Gere and him using an Irish accent. I had to tell myself to get past that. Casting Richard Gere was bad( but Sidney Poitier and Bruce Willis almost made up for that) the Irish accent though made me almost loss it, especially since when I first saw it I was drinking.

I didn't know there were Nic Cage fans. I don't dislike him but I always wondered how he got so much work. ( his uncle can only do so much)

If you’re into watching 90s action movies (like the Jackal) he’s been in a couple classics, like Face/Off and the Rock

But I like some of his lesser-knowns most of all, like Bringing Out the Dead and Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

Face off is not a classic. I saw it in the theater and to be honest John Travolta would be my bigger objection.
The rock was a Sean Connery film
Bring out the dead: Please tell me that was not the paramedic one: that was a Martin Scorsese film with Cage in it.
Bad lieutenant, I didn't see it, but it was a Harvey Kietel movie and made 2 million at the box office. I guess Nic was in it.

The first bad lieutenant starred Keitel. Bad lieutenant: port of call New Orleans was a reboot directed by Werner herzog and starring cage

Oh, that explains a lot. I heard of it, just not the remake, I got things wrong, sorry.

Thanksgiving (2023)

Surprised by this actually - really had a good time with this holiday slasher. I’d def recommend checking it out, looks like it’s gonna be a rewatch yearly (or more). Unlike most modern horrors tbh but that’s not a bad thing.
