Project 2025: Trump's plan for authoritarian takeover

I cannot imagine the mental state of someone who tells themselves we need to continue in the direction we're going instead of returning to observable milestones under the Trump presidency - all simply based on a personality - and I don't even support Trump. (Who would've thought that TDS would linger around longer than Covid...)

A person’s personality is important when deciding whether or not they should be in a leadership position

No it fucking isn't.
This is exactly what's wrong with politics.
What's important are their actions.
I don't care if they're a sour cunt in their demeanor as long as they're making the right moves.
Also, the public are terrible at understanding or recognizing psychopaths, so they can be easily swayed and spellbound by a charismatic personality who appears to have (but is faking) all of the wonderful traits that they look for in a leader.
 
It’s a public facing job, so of course personality is gonna be important. Or do you think the role would be better served by a bunch of bland, boring technocrats who nevertheless “make the right move”? That’s nothing more than a utopian vision, and a boring one at that. Politics necessarily involves charisma, manipulation and all manner of the psychological/emotional “dark arts”, as has always been (since the age of “mass politics”) and always will be. And there’s nothing wrong with that…how good is the elected leader at “reading people” and picking up on cues? Are they diplomatic, or quick to anger? Are they impulsive, or do they drag their feet when it comes to making decisions? These and countless other questions (including “integrity,” ie the ability to “do the right thing” or “make the right move” or however you want to put it) are relevant to the ability of a leader, and all are linked to that leader’s personality
 
You're getting an authoritarian take over no matter which politucal party is in. Did nobody ever question it when they wanted vaccine passports? Trying to restrict your freedon of movement, tried to force you to take a jab to go to work; those themselves are authoritarian measures. Measures either side would try and impliment.

Getting fired over a vaccine (which was a gross miscarriage of personal freedom) is different than never having elections, abortion, secular science based education and medicine or drugs again.

What about getting dragged from your home because they think you might have a virus but they don't explain which virus and can take you anywhere to quarantine indefinitely? Personally that sounds the worst to me.

Look at any country run by fundamentalist religious ppl.

Now look at the most communist country you can think of, say China.

Ignoring the fact that the US would never go as full authoritarian as China since the population is its own army….even still I’d rather live in China than Afghanistan, Iran etc.

Merely pointing out that in the broke political system you have, most of you seem to want to point at the opposing party and say 'they do this...they're authoritarian', while completely neglecting what your own party is doing. Which is exactly what your doing here.

Instead of 'pick one', how about you try accepting both sides are completely corrupt and authoritarian. It shouldn't be that hard to comprehend at this stage.

Of you’re going to make up lies without even reading the whole thread I don’t want to waste my time engaging with someone this lazy that just wants to argue and not read.
 
My first post in this thread was on this page. So no i haven't gone through the whole thread specifically looking for what your posts said.

You're the one who told me i was choosing theocracy when i'm not choosing either side. Merely highlighting authoritarian behavior on both sides.

Read my first post in this thread, and it seems having read yours from page 3, we share similar sentiments. My original post was also not a direct reply to you as you seem to have taken it, it was me replying to the thread.

Oh? And just what are these so-called "right moves?" I was materially harmed by Trump, when he crafted his tax code changed to harm the population of my state in order to retaliate against us for voting blue in 2016. No, that's not because of withholdings versus refunds, but because of his shenanigans with the mortgage deduction and by double-taxing me on what I've already paid to the state. I have the 1040s to prove this. I was materially harmed by Trump's inept handling the economy. My income went down during his term for the first time since Bush's recession... not the "Great Recession," but his first recession back in 2001. I have the 1040s to prove it. I was physically harmed by Trump's inept handling of the COVID pandemic, specifically by the closure of the gyms and shortages of decent food at first. I have the data in Apple Health to prove it. I was psychologically harmed by Trump's inept handling of the COVID pandemic. I won't go into the details of that one, but I'm sure I could request and receive a copy of my therapist's records to prove it. I was socially harmed by Trump's inept handling of the COVID pandemic; having had to miss more social activities than I could even guess and losing touch with friends I could no longer travel and visit. I can't really prove that one with documentation. I was civilly harmed by Trump appointing the thief, the rapist, and the theocrat to the Supreme Court; which eliminated non-discrimination protections for LGBT people wrt/ taking part in commerce and and adoptions. That is a matter of public record. I and my community have been civilly, socially, and in some cases physically, harmed by Trump's anti-LGBT narrative, rhetoric, orders, and legislation initiated both as part of his presidency and at his direction by his followers afterwards. Again, this is a matter of public record.

That is just off the top of my head. If I sat down and put some work in itemizing, I'm sure I could come up with more. So why, exactly, should I consider any of that to be "right moves" that I should reward?

I'm open to believing that you suffered financially under the Trump administration. Whether that be because of Trump's actions directly or other factors, is another story. The economy was steadily growing and strengthening under Trump and he was on track to be one of the greatest presidents of all time. But unfortunately, and I agree with you here, he dropped the ball on Covid. Which undid all of the good work (multiple stock market records, record-low unemployment numbers for minorities) that he had done up until that point. That was one of the reasons I stopped supporting him: he didn't help Assange, he didn't pardon any innocent Jan 6 protesters, he didn't prosecute any government criminals, he pushed the vaccine and didn't fight mandates etc. But he was the first president in modern history not to be a warmonger, so for the world in general and innocent people globally, he was a godsend and a brief respite for the continued horror and destruction of what's known as American foreign policy.

As for the LGBT stuff I don't know what you're talking about. I've seen him campaigning with transgender supporters and I know some gay Trump supporters. The legislation on that stuff is mostly coming from the States.

But my main point originally was that personality/speech/style really has not much to do with how we should really judge someone as a leader.

how will destroying all that america stands for benefit anyone but the oligarchies that trump caters to?

have you even A TINY BIT looked into the particulars of project 2025? or do you just feel good about all this?
