Id suggest not smoking any kind of pill honestly, they have all sorts of other shit in them like binders and fillers. Who knows what the hell that can do to your lungs, when you goto vape that pill all thats vapor/smoke coming off the foil is not just the morphine you know. If you wanna get more bang for your buck i would plug them.

That's fine if you have a sufficiently large amount of a morphine-containing material for mechanical losses not to present a problem. But it's not very practical if one only has material containing only a few grams of morphine.

I'm wondering if anyone has taken note of the various patents which list 'Peter X. Wang' as inventor (not a name one forgets). He developed a catalytic rearrangement of codeine-->hydrocodone (83% yield) and morphine-->hydromorphone (78% yield). Since the products both contain a ketone moiety, they can be isolated quite readily.

If someone can find a substrate for the Wilkinson's catalyst he uses OR finds a cheaper catalyst, regions producing H could switch product and avoid the need for large amounts of watched precursors. Wilkinson's catalyst is costly for several reasons but since hydrocodone and hydromorphone are widely used in the US, it's worth a researchers time to find and patent a cheaper route - this happens with all medicines that are widely used. Anyone making them has to pay a royalty to use the cheaper patented route.
