Why are there so many open air drug markets in the U.S?

It's the same here mate to the point very few local dealers now. Couple of crews of Jamaican yardies, Scousers, Albos, but very few local operations in comparison.

In my particular patch of the woods, we first got Moroccans and Libyans, then some black Africans, now mostly Albanians ; and your chance of getting roughed up while out to score has increased exponentially. A few expletives and a bit of a push-around was the most back in the day. Now I routinely encounter weapons. I mean shit I've even had a knife pulled on me by a bloke simply for REFUSING TO BUY from him as I already had a go-to dealer. It's fucking insane out there now.

Yeah agreed on the violence front. A while ago when i went to score from the yardies I saw one of my mates bombing it away from the area on a bike with 4 yardies all covered up with balaclavas and carrying big blades running after him. Apparently he'd stole a pack when doing the running. Scenes like these are becoming more and more common round here though.

He ripped off some Yardies? What did he expect?

But it HAS got more violent. 20 years ago if you ripped off a pack, you got your teeth kicked in, now they kill you.

Also, if you were a runner and a gang ripped YOU off, your supplier would sort it out. Now it's YOUR problem.

And the government is concentrating on the dark web which 100% uses dead drops, where credibility and quality are reported and nobody is getting chopped up.

I agree with what you're saying though. Like it's a bit far 4 of them chasing him up the road with machetes in Broad day light. For the value of what's he's off with, it's not really worth the heat they're bringing on themselves even reacting like that. Equally I think most of the gang members are completely dispensible these days. I know one line it's the same phone number for 4-5 years now. They've been raided multiple times and police are definitely aware of them. Never the same guy on the phone for 2 days in a row even. So I dare say that means police are having a hard job pinpointing the main man in that case.

I think alot of the cases locally where the runner robs the supplier, it is because the runners already been robbed by customers themselves and the suppliers shown them no loyalty and pinned a bill on them instead.

Its rare that I'd say there's any use for the police but I think honestly these type scenarios aren't doing society any favours. Agreed everyone would be safer if everything had to be ordered online instead.

I mean, for one I don't live in England, which is merely the largest portion of the UK. But even if I did, you mainly get a lot of knife crime around major cities. Even in those major cities gun crime is low compared to the US, because it's quite a lot less easy to acquire a firearm here in UK than it is anywhere in the US.
So I have no idea how things possibly COULD be worse here.

Because you guys don't have to pay $15 plus tip for a slice of meatloaf and we can carry guns while doing it yee haw
 
No because you see they have guns too. Nobody will pull a machete on you but we have people killing black kids in hoodies because they look "suspicious"
 
I've always been confused because the constitution states 'arms', not 'firearms'. I'm disabled so a gun is no use to me. I would be quite satisfied if I could simply buy a Pershing II TRBM. Press a button and vapourize people 1000 miles away.

Another plus is that they come complete with an erector/launcher towed by an 8WD tractor.

So, open-carry isn't really OPTIONAL.

Absolutely. Any southern, central, or northern NJ cities (Camden, Trenton, Jersey city etc etc) anyone with a little street smarts can go cold cop no problem.
If you can make into Kensington/fairhills PA, it’s like a candy store for junkies, and from my own experiences, Philly cops aren’t as bad as Camden.

By the time I quit, I had only one source for quality heroin. But if you happen to use fentadope just a few times, being able to stay well even on good ‘Ron was nearly impossible unfortunately.

I totally agree that fentanyl can produce a level of dependence that H simply cannot.

In fact, I'm fairly sure that fentanyl binding to an extra domain within the opiate receptor means that almost no other opiate will fully substitute. None that are prescribed, certainly.

The Dutch used to use bezitramide that DID bind to that extra domain but discontinued it's use for political reasons.

I find this fascinating. As we look back heroin was not so bad. The game has changed so much that rehabs and detoxes need to catch up or they are not worth paying for them even through insurance.

I mean I always heard of super strong synthetic opiates but they were always just in literature. Now released to the public they can affect tolerance so much that heroin is ineffective. And all those years we called heroin users addicts and junkies, and now heroin is like codeine when compared to fentanyl or the other synthetics.

I am not sure it is worth ruining an opiate tolerance on purpose with these super strong opioids. And I know you say the same AT-2 about the super strong benzos ruining people's tolerance as well as their lives. Man chemistry is incredible. So far the strongest opiate in nature is still Morphine (I believe).
 
MOST of those super-potent opioids are synthetically complex. BUT given how novel they are and the fact that slight modifications can be made to make them truly 'novel' i.e. Reaxys won't find them, a specialist fine chemical company could make them likely for LESS than anyone less skilled who might take multiple attempts to produce ANY product and even longer to optimize the synthesis.

In short - you are guaranteed to get what you ask for at a previously agreed price and when 1g of material equals 10,50 or even 100Kg of pure morphine, even if they ask for $20000/g, it's still amazingly cheap.

Of course, how one produces a reliable dose format for something so potent is a significant problem in itself. It seems that all highly potent medicines are formulated as solutions. Botulism toxin comes in ng/mL in physiological saline. I GUESS a similar methodology to that employed in producing 'windowpanes' of LSD would allow for a solid format, but it's a hard problem.
 
When the jails and legal system is full and backed up, the decriminalization of substance use does take the pressure off certain parts of the system in a way. Also, if one were to accept that the “War on Drugs” is for the most part ineffective policy, charging vulnerable populations sometimes of victimless crimes, than an overhaul in overarching policies may be beneficial.
There are so many moving parts on this topic that it’s difficult to express it all in a post.
The Canadian open drug market local lacks an adequate and easily accessible infrastructure of mental health and substance use supports, while in other countries with open market use the “recovery” industry is for the most part corrupt and even predatory towards those who are trying to work towards abstinence; recall the revolving doors of clients being the underlying intention.
In a nutshell, it’s policy which doesn’t truly benefit those who need and want help.
