Help! Ayahuasca Diet?

So I got this bottle of pure Ayahuasca, freshly made. It's the potent stuff, they call 12x1 here. A 20ml dose gives 4h - 6h intense trip. The thing is almost syrup like.

I am not a newbie with psychedelics, 20 years ago I was cultivating cubensis at home and making teas with heroic dosages.

I would like to know about this "ayahuasca diet" , I wanted to prepare myself for the trip and I have been reading all sorts of protocols, that you must not do this and that and not eat this and that for at least 7 days before the trip, is all that really necessary??

Nothing special really - I forget what foods you should avoid but I'd never eaten any of them in my life.

I always found oral DMT to be a shorter trip maybe 2-3 hours and the peak is about 45mins to an hour.

Maybe because you did not try this one, look at the viscosity and color:

I never got round to drinking potions - just used to take DMT and moclobemide. Loved the first trips but eventually the nausea got too much for me.

4-aco-dmt takes you to the same place nausea free

I feel you, cubensis give me strong nausea too. But you can take some dramamine or Zofran for nausea.

I haven't tried this particular potion yet, it just got here today, but I do know that they make it in a special way that removes the acidity, which is what causes the physical effects (nausea, shitting, etc...), or so they say. They claim it is an intense, long trip free of physical effects/discomfort.

I had a stupid question for you, Bud. What happens to the stupid hippies that come from America to México to try the drug? I doubt that all of them follow some strict dietary regimen.

Wouldn't the answer to that question help you to figure out if you need to do the cleanse first?

I get your point, but I am not a stupid hippie. For example, maybe not eating meat a day or two before the trip might be the difference between a good and a very bad trip, for some reason.. I don't know, maybe someone who has done it multiple times could answer if there is any difference.

Not eating meat, not drinking coffee, alcohol, eating very bland stuff, why? Is there really something to it or it's just some "spiritual mumbo jumbo"?

Observing food taboos prior to a ritual can be an enriching or essential part of the experience if that's your spiritual practice. The restrictions vary depending on your tradition.

Watching what you eat prior to taking a psychedelic that often causes nausea and vomiting makes practical sense, but that's just common sense, not dieta.

Avoiding foods that are rich in tyramine is essential when taking MAO inhibitors, but fortunately the herbs or chemicals generally used to make DMT orally available (harmine, harmaline, moclobemide) are RIMAs, which don't seem to be hazardous with tyramine.

I tried 10ml this morning, very mellow feel good buzz. I felt I was on the verge of triggering a full on trip though.

I have been slowly upping the dose in the last couple of days, started micro dosing with 1ml, then 2ml, 3ml, etc...

Zero physical discomfort, quite the opposite, it was a good physical buzz like MDMA. I think that 20ml will hit nicely.

Where do we get 4-aco-dmt? I surely can't find it here in Brazil...

I would love to have the trip/visions without the body load and nausea.

That's the problem with the stuff you have to swallow and it has to get digested, go through your system. It gives a body load, at the beginning it feels pleasant but as times passes it kind of starts to get annoying.

I took 30ml of the ayahuasca yesterday and even though it did not give me nausea, 3 or 4 hours in I started feeling something weird in my abdominal area, like a hollowness.
It was the 1st time I had Ayahuasca, to be honest it is exactly the same as magic mushrooms. If you had given me the Ayahusca to drink and told me it was a mushroom tea, I would have believed it. I think mushrooms are way stronger than the Ayahuasca, but I used to make strong teas using 5g of dried mushrroms.

In the end all entheogens take you to the same place...

Can't source anything here at BL. But you seem resourceful anyway!

Hey thanks for the updates ketquest. As far as psychedelics I do think each and every one is important and in ways similar. I too believe ayahuasca, 4-ACO-DMT and psilocybin mushrooms are very similar, so much so that it would probably take an expert to tell the difference. 4-ACO-DMT is more like ayahuasca than mushrooms but all very similar. I remember reading True Hallucinations when the McKenna brothers went to South America to investigate ayahuasca. Turns out the mushrooms were the big inspiration, enough to write a book on how to cultivate them in the 1970's. I have a copy of that book somewhere here. But it was pretty complex, certainly did not seem like mushroom growing made easy.

Thanks again for updating. I wish more people would update us after they ask questions. But sometimes we are left to wonder.

Ok cool, I forgot about the sourcing thing.

Yes growing shrooms is a lot of work, I would not say hard but it's certainly hard work and lots of steps, and if you are not super careful you end up loosing a batch because of contamination.

Oh and one thing I forgot to mention, it actually smelled and tasted pretty good. I've read "horror stories" about the taste being awful, to me (and at least this concoction here) smelled sweet and reminded me of molasses, the taste also I would describe as a mixture of molasses, chocolate and coffee.

Never have been tried Aia...but I want ofcorse.as i know u must have a diet.may be at least a week before the trip.People eat mostly fruit and vegetables....Purging a lot even a day before to clean and prepare their bodies.....or doing sweet baths...Ingredients in potion can interact with a lot of foods...as i know from all psychedelicks this with fasting and dieta is especially important with the amazon potion.

I didn't do any diet, in fact when I took the 30ml yesterday I had had lunch like 2 hours prior, so I was with a full stomach of pasta, meat (both beef and chicken). A couple of days ago I had a rack of ribs at Outback.

I had zero nausea, no purging. But I did feel weird later on in my stomach region but I think it was because of the substance messing with my emotional and serotonin. The serotonin is mostly stored in your gut.

And as I mentioned above, this concoction was prepared in a way that removes the acidity and it's filtered, it is quite clean trip besides the body load/heaviness.

@ketquest
When you take ayahuasca you are ingesting 2 psychoactive substances, one is a MAOI and the other is DMT.

You don't need any type of diet for the DMT, but the MAOI could cause issues if you have eaten too much tyramine before the trip.

Look up "MAOI diet", you'll find a list of foods to avoid because of their high tyramine content.

For similar reasons you want to avoid combining ayahuasca with things like MDMA, amphetamines coke and other stims.

Apart from this, eat foods that you digest easily from the day before.
Nothing wrong with eating meat that your body digests easily.
So maybe avoid fried chicken and greasy burgers or kebabs but a grilled chicken salad or a steak are not a problem at all.

This is a common misconception that's been repeated endlessly over the years. Taking reversible inhibitors of monoamine oxidase like the ones found in caapi doesn't necessitate tyramine avoidance.

You are absolutely right about being cautious with medications and other drugs, though. There are a fair few serious interactions.

Have you guys smoked Changa? I never did, but I think I am gonna enjoy it because it is a quick trip, isn't it? It's like a 10min psychedelic trip.
If you just wanna enjoy a bit and don't wanna go through hours of a full on trip, perhaps that's the answer.

I think that's one of the reasons I got so addicted to ketamine at one point in my life, it provided a quick psychedelic trip of like 30min, then I Was back to reality as if nothing had happened.

The truth is I kind of reached a dead end with psychedelics, like I extracted from them what I wanted and now it's like "been there done that". Whenever I do it I instantly regret it and just wish it to go away ASAP, I enjoy it for a short time but then I get fed up and wanna get back to normal.

The only drugs that still give me enjoyment are MDMA and cocaine... And any amphetamine.

That's interesting ketquest - first time I've ever heard anyone say they got bored with psychedelics but still find coke interesting. I could never get anywhere with coke - ten minutes feeling hyper for £100 - think I'll give it a pass!

Never tried Changa but I vaped DMT crystals, it's even shorter acting than Changa.
You could also try insufflated 2C-B, very intense and relatively short lasting, you'll be almost normal in 3-4 hours.
