Yeah it's no fun, although i'm perhaps alarmingly insensitive to the reek. I think drying it in the sun could help minimize human exposure and improve evaporation rate, so next attempt will occur during summertime. There's also the possibility to extract the DMT from a xylene pull with naphtha in order to try and separate the jungle spice. Really doesn't seem to be much of any red or goopy stuff in there though, so i'm not sure that's worth it.
I suppose re-extracting with acid has the express purpose of converting to salt form to enhance stability and shelf-life? Or was it more to avoid having to evaporate the solvent?
Xylene does seem incredibly effective for the extraction. The best practice may be to pull with minimal xylene, evaporate and then purify with naphtha. Maybe letting the basic solution sit for weeks also helped free some more alkaloids. However, despite being so freakishly effective, xylene evidently could not pull everything - since my solution allowed for one more equally yellow xylene pull which is now evaporating.
