Respect to a fallen Sound boi. RIP Jah Shaka.

Favourite memory of him is when at one of his dances in Bristol (1992 at Malcolm X Centre)...after playing a set from 9pm til 5am (yup - 8 hours folks, damn) and never stoppin moving for a second (apart from when toking on his chillum ofc or drinking his water) ...he spent the last 20 minutes (at least) with his back to the (still 3/4 full) venue running on the spot (fast!) while waving madly

Energised. Really, truly amazing. Legend is an overused word thesedays. This fella is a legend. OG.

Did you not see my post yesterday? https://bluelight.org/xf/threads/wh...or-sexxxy-folks.839822/page-116#post-15801599

And, yes of course we can unite. Apart from sometimes in your head (for reasons I have yet to work out) we are never anything but

Peace, always
No man I didn't see the post or I would have posted something. I didn't find out till I heard on BBC World Service News, my jaw hit the floor.
Not sure if you ever seen the movie called "Babylon" filmed & set in London all about Sound system culture & has a young Ray Winston in, so many samples have been used in Proper Dubstep & Jungle tracks "Play da tune for da Sound man" ;)

"Dem dubplate old man, me hear that sound months ago" I still laugh each time I hear that sampled in tracks.

Jah Shaka is featured in the movie working his subwoofer & system in a dance, if you never seen it I can't big the film up enough. I rate it better than "The Harder they come" & that's real talk. We both know our Sound boi & Selector's very well.

Jah, oh Jah I praise you every day. When the Lion of Judah come the wicked have no place to hide or run"

Real Talk, 100% TRUTH right there.

I said on my Instagram a Legend has passed. The UK music scene wouldn't have Jungle, Dubstep or stuff like Spac Hand Luke without Shaka.

All the DMZ lot said they owe their PROPER Dubstep sound to Shaka. (Dubstep as in Dub from Dub / Roots and Step from UK / USA 2-step Garage)

Shaka would make those Subwoofers buzz, he had a system that HAS become a Legend is his own lifetime, that is something special.
