Well that’s just it , I had a pretty accurate read on her during the interview but decided to give her a chance cause she had a sob story (red flag) and sure enough I ended up getting exactly what I thought
My main contention is that he hasn't stayed on topic. It doesn't matter if he is correct in stating the US government has done horrible things before because his points have nothing to do with the original OP's statement about America's participation in WW2, which is completely false. All december's statements regarding America's involvement are disingenuous at best.I'm American and I see myself agreeing with @December Flower in this thread more often than not. I see him attempting to have a rational discussion and people either completely not understanding what he is trying to say or simply trolling for entertainment. Then again, I'm what the conservative types claim to be an America-hater even though that couldn't be further from the truth. When I see something wrong with our country, I point it out and want to fix it. The true America-haters see something wrong and either knowingly deny that it is wrong or stupidly don't even notice, either way they merely want to perpetuate the status quo of the rich getting richer while promoting unchecked capitalism. Oh yeah, and dOn'T tOuCh My GuNz!!
As an American, I 100% agree that our government is evil in the way it has treated other countries up to the present day. I 100% agree that the Native Americans were genocided and displaced by Americans and Euro-Americans as well as the American government not honoring a single treaty ever made with a Native tribe. While some people like to claim tribes presently profit off casinos, I would like to point out that they are a minority and further, only the chiefs and leaders profit while most of the everyday citizens still live in poverty and squalor on those reservations.
The funny thing is, conservatives also claim the government is evil but just can't stand when foreigners point this out. December Flower, I noticed that most of the Americans that are trolling you and giving you shit are of the conservative variety. Remember, conservative Americans say the government doesn't work then get elected to office only to prove themselves right.
December Flower, I know you mentioned the left vs right dichotomy that is destroying our nation from the inside out and I agree with this as well. I'm so far left that mainstream democrats don't even like me and the feeling is mutual. I only tend to vote democrat because many of them are better alternatives than the batshit crazy Christo-fascist nationalistic xenophobic republicans. Don't let the bastards bring you down. I'm sure there are other Americans around here who feel the same way I do, maybe they're afraid to speak up for fear of getting flamed or something.
He seems to have blended every American(or person who disagrees with him) together into one entity
True.... I was going to quote a few of these types of posts and say "come on guys. You're better than this".he's not the only one...
we've basically arrived at the "all liberals are stupid" phase of the thread. such nuance
alasdair
Yes there is a divide and yada yada, but come on, your average liberal is a lot stupider than your average republican, it’s just a fact
if they were liberal as they claim to be, they would accept everybody for who they are and how they think - you would live and let live and not get caught up in others views
but if you don't think like a liberal, then you're beneath a liberal - that is their view
they're so hypocritically full of shit, that they can't even smell there own bullshit
Everybody could use a Xanax stuffed shroom for dinnerDude...
The hate is strong with this thread... you know, not all liberals are like the wingnuts you see on social media or the kids who expect everybody to cater to their feelings. A lot of people just have some different opinions about social and economic issues than you do. Something that, until recently, was considered perfectly normal and respectable, even necessary to a well-functioning democracy. But we live in the fucking Twilight Zone. It makes me feel sick. And certainly worried for the future. It's time to wake up and realize how bad this division has gotten that you can't say the word "liberal" or "conservative" without a thread on Bluelight, which is one of the most balanced and nuanced online communities I know of, devolving into this shit.
Didn't think this day could get any worse... probably shouldn't have wandered into this subforum. Peace
This has quite a few flaws. I didn't read this entire thread.. so ill just post at CENot just to people from the UK, but mostly.
Do they teach a weirdly pro-American alternate-history in U.S. schools?
America literally came into the war right at the very last moment as it was ending - after most of the world had been fighting for many years - helped out A LITTLE....and then claimed all of the credit? It's so bizarre.
I'm in no way against the U.S. and many of my friends on here are from there. I've just always found this confusing and weird?
This isn't gonna help my not-having-a-go-just-confused thing (I PROMISE it's true), but while I'm at it (rather than making two threads), on a very similar note: why is Thanksgiving celebrated as when the natives shared their food and shelter with the pilgrims when what actually happened is the pilgrims murdered the natives and stole their food/land/shelter?
Qft.. for sure we didn't give Russia half of Europe.. they pushed back the German offensive and thus concurred it. The US didn't give anything to Russia. The took it.We weren't at war with Russia. We were allies but you already know this.

I dunno man. While DF has appeared to veer off topic, in all honesty I think he has only been addressing a lot of people who keep pulling the thread off topic. When half a dozen folks go off topic and half of them are trolling you, it looks like you're off topic but really you're trying to keep up with everyone else coming from all directions. Just a matter of perspective. My main contention is that he hasn't stayed on topic. It doesn't matter if he is correct in stating the US government has done horrible things before because his points have nothing to do with the original OP's statement about America's participation in WW2, which is completely false. I can't speak for DF because I'm not in his head but if I had to guess, I'd say it's not you he was talking about but the ones actually trolling him.I'm not conservative(myself) and I only see 2 people in this thread who are consistently conservative. Also I don't know who he is talking about when he said he tried to speak rationally to the person at 1st but it didn't work and feels bad for mocking their opinion but I'm going to assume it's me.
Like I said, a matter of perspective. And the "all over the place" aspect is just him defending his views from attacks that seem to be coming from all over the place. The problem is that he has not been rational. He is all over the place. The only constant being that he hates America's government but in regards to the topic and our particular discussion he has offered up little to nothing for points. Only stating that he will not accept that anybody but Russia beat Germany in WW2, which is an absurd position to take with no other backing evidence or addressing any of my points. He just resorts to a rant about Muricans being too nationalistic for disagreeing with his position on the logistical outcome of WW2.
Like I keep saying, nearly everyone in this thread is pulling it in different directions. The Native American/slave things do seem to be spillover from conversations he and Krinkle have had elsewhere on here. Other than that, I just see an outspoken person trying to say his piece with a bunch of Americans either legit disagreeing with him (like you) but others outright trolling and pushing his buttons (like you know who).He seems to have blended every American(or person who disagrees with him) together into one entity, as he doesn't separate individual arguments, discussions or points. Furthermore he is bleeding several different threads together without staying on topic or making any direct points other than America has done bad things. Sure...but what does any of that have to do with the topic? What do Native Americans and slaves to do with America's involvement in WW2 or what's the price of tea in China anyways.
Sorry about that. I guess it's a colloquial term that you may not recognize. Where I live the statement "Don't let the bastards bring you down" is more tongue in cheek and you are correct, it was indirect and not meant to be aimed at anyone specifically other than maybe the trolls who have nothing constructive to add other than purposely trying to piss people off. Also as a moderator I don't think it's appropriate to be calling members bastards even if it is indirectly.
... just to too much more time onlineSomething in the water today, I swear...
It's not funny dude. Has nothing to do with liberals or conservatives, don't you find it concerning? Where do you think this leads?
Again: Russia lost 26 million people. Russia won. Thank you.My main contention is that he hasn't stayed on topic. It doesn't matter if he is correct in stating the US government has done horrible things before because his points have nothing to do with the original OP's statement about America's participation in WW2, which is completely false. Yes pretty much. It's hard to stay on topic when you're being confronted with everything.I dunno man. While DF has appeared to veer off topic, in all honesty I think he has only been addressing a lot of people who keep pulling the thread off topic. Also, I'm not reading that he hates specifically the American government but rather ALL governments. I've seen him reiterate multiple times that it's not the everyday people he is chastising but the governments and ones in power, both in America and outside America. I'm just seeing mainly the Americans taking it personally that he is criticizing their government as if they don't do the same thing. God forbid a foreigner calls our government out on their bullshit.
Like I keep saying, nearly everyone in this thread is pulling it in different directions. Maybe it's my liberal empathy that's getting the best of me but I'm just trying to put myself in another's shoes. Lord knows I know what it's like to be ganged up on, addressing all comments while sticking to your guns and principles. It isn't fun or easy but I have to respect the effort.
