Methadone vs.Bupenorphine . Which is better/safer to come off H ?

Both are opioids.yes-that is in most cases the goal for such clinics-stabilize u for sometime&after that weans u off.U can personally talk with your doc about your situation&,if u want to tapper down the med till drug free.It could take a months,'cause your dose is big.

I prefer to be on morphine tbh.
You're lucky dude!!
Not in every country is possible to get morphine. God willing to have morphine in all countrys. Morphine is produced By a plant called poppy. I supone most of you know but its good to write it for people that dont know. Then you collect poppys and only extract morphine By a chemical proces, but its more clean that Heroin. Excuse me chemists if I am wrong.
Well methadone and bupe are good medication but morphine is superior.
There are country that gave morphine or heroin injection 3 times a day for old users that cant be treated in other way.they rest all of his life probable with this treatment
Send you love guys

Suboxone is an Opioid while Methadone is an Opiate.
Sorry but you're wrong. Opiate is that come from opium I think. And opioid is comino from chemistry.
So both are opioids like nas47 said.
Excuse me if Im wrong. But I didnt Google it.
Kisses

From what I understand, Suboxone is an Opioid while Methadone is an Opiate.
Personally, Methadone is what helped me kick black tar and that was 6 years ago. Methadone works as long as you take it as prescribed. I’ve been taking 180mg a day for 4 years now. I am worried about getting off Methadone but I would like to have my life back.
It would have been nice if my clinic stated me at a higher dose to get me off tar and then slowly taper me off. That way I could be off Opiates.
The process may be tough and take some time but then again it's worth it.

You only have to go through it once if you really, really wanna get off ; and you gain so much in personal liberty. I went off because to me it seemed pointless to keep myself shackled to a substance that my body didn't actually literally NEED to function - it's not like being diabetic and having to take insulin or you die.

You end up tied to the dispensing clinic every bit as much as to the dealer on the street. You always have to make sure you stay dosed up to not get sick, if you ever want to travel anywhere you have to worry about your continued supply ; it's just such a life-limiting faff.
As far as I'm concerned there's two good reasons to take opiates, either to treat a legitimate medical problem or purely for pleasure. If you're not treating pain and you no longer do it for pleasure, there's no benefit to them.

Have you ever considered withdrawing under medical supervision? If yes and you're in the US, I'd try Gallus Detox. They have an excellent reputation. You'll be closely monitored, given whatever supporting medications you may need to make you as comfortable as possible, and most of all treated with dignity and decency instead of the underhand judgment that's so common in many places. (I'm European but have talked with several people who spoke very highly of their experience there.)

Honestly man, my life is so much better without dependence. It's worth taking the plunge. 👍

Yeah, been addicted to opiates since I'm 15. In fact the first drug I ever tried, was codeine. Yeah man, I'm extremely lucky to haf morphine available and for a cheap price lols. Today I coped some, it's kicking in real good. 👌 stay safeeee :D

I get methadone pain pills monthly; for last 15 years. Not so much life hassle; but my pain doc is getting older and my younger primary doctor wants me to switch to suboxone.
Why? Methadone has always been good for pain; stigma, war on drugs, they want to switch me to another med to be dependent on; the switch will be a bitch!

I take methadone to avoid steroids like prednisone for life?
Some docs know of a trick where you take your last methadone dose, then the following day strap on a 50mcg fent patch which you wear for 24 hours if I recall (was it 48?), then peel off the patch in the morning and take first subutex 2mg dose.

That's what they did for me. The morning of the first sub dose, I asked if I could take it home to allow for the fent to leave my body a bit more. I only lasted a couple hours iirc before tossing the sub under my tongue.

It was painless. No PWD. I was on 15mg methadone daily when I made the switch FWIW.

Are you truly in Lima Peru? Or perhaps were there at some point? I spent a month wandering that city, what a trip! I wandered up that hill with all the colorful shanties which you can see from the Plaza de Armas.

Hi DJ, have you also lived in MN? Or just Seatown? 180 mg does seem like a hefty dose. I wonder what 32 mg bupe is equiv in terms of methadone. I am under the impression that a large bupe dose is = to 30mg methadone.

Thanks for the idea how the jump from methadone to suboxone could be painless. I wonder if I could do the same thing with 90 vicodin pills.
Stop the methadone and do a quick taper of vicodin for 3 days and then on the fourth take the suboxone.
probably not a good idea as the fent patch would likely wear off slowly over the 2 days... and I am not an expert on this either!
Im on 30 mgs but could taper down to 15 before I do a switch; if that's indeed what I decide to do.

So I have this very old friend who has been an addict since 2005 . we both started the same time ,but I went on Suboxone ,then subutex . He moved out of state in 2006 and has continued to use ,graduating to H . His doc just put him on Methadone and I am concerned. I have been on Subs since 2009 so I'm not having a picnic either but Im not sure which is worse.
I would say that subs are better for H. But for fentanyl, I would ideally at least start with methadone or anything without naloxone. I've only had precipitated withdrawal with Suboxone from fent, and fuck that. I basically had to suffer for a couple days before Suboxone really started to help. Fent is a shitty drug, IMO.
