thanks @Bleaney - just read, it apparently increases the amount of deep sleep you get too. that is a big plus for me, i have a sleep app. i take it with a pinch of salt but there is definitely a correlation between the amount of deep sleep it thinks i've got and how tired i feel. been lucky to get an hour deep sleep a night recently, even when i'm not drinking (as alcohol definitely fucks it).

also, if its not abusable i'd feel less sus asking the GP for it.

i wouldn't wanna take it every night. did 16 years of no natural sleep, don't intend to do that again. just need literally a couple of decent nights sleep back to back so that i can actually do stuff beyond the bare minimum required for my existence.
Also makes you into a greedy little fucker by all accounts. Weight gain is a very common side effect.

@blondin iirc you have spent some time in portugal? or is it someone else i'm thinking of?

Yeah it really does this in a big way. Don't know how I forgot about what caused me to morph from a skinny slim person to a pot bellied porker within not too long a time frame.

That is the price to pay for this medication. Many people do report the same thing.

Happened to me too when I was on it... But did stop me from offing myself after a very traumatic time of my life... So maybe worth it in some cases but they should warn folk lol

It’s literally on the patient information sheet under the listed side effects. 😅

the last thing I was doing was reading an information leaflet lol i had to have someone keep them for me too
Edit: stupid phone lol

All I was saying was my GP never mentioned to watch out for mucnhies and I thought they were the same as other anti depressants - mirtazipine
Imo wouldn't have hurt for GP to explain the type of drug. I mean I didn't even have the fucking internet to Google it and also probably lost the information sheet. Maybe you have never been that depressed before that you can't stop crying constantly for days at a time and only emerge to do the toilet and (once the mirtazipine kicked in) eat something. It was just after finding my partner at the time not breathing, seizing up etc and he has never recovered and in a vegetative state still to this day. Sorry for going on but just saying lol. I'll make my way out now 😀 happy Friday everyone lol

They’re doing a shit job if they didn’t reel off the most common side effects. Not just for this class of medications, but for any medications. It’s standard procedure.

“I’m giving you xyz, it does abc. Some of the most common side effects with xyz is…”

Pure laziness, and at worst poor workmanship.

Hey chin-up,since I turned 50 my sleep pattern has turned to shit. I wouldn’t call it insomnia exactly but I wake up so fucking early these days it’s painful ( like about 3 or 4 am) & really struggle to get back to sleep again. Sometimes a quick wank does the job & I can then get another couple of hours in but if not I just have a little afternoon siesta, whenever that 1st wave of tiredness hits me, not always possible or practical but if I get a chance a quick lie down on the sofa & all I need to do is actually get to sleep even if it’s for like 5-10 mins or so & i can then power on through the rest of the day without being a tired yawning mess. Impossible if your at work of course but if it’s the weekend & you have a do or a gig in the evening or something it’s golden & drug free.
I couldn’t seem to do it in my younger days, just actually getting to sleep in the daytime took so long it wasn’t worth the effort but nowadays if I time it right & recognise that lovely 1st wave of tiredness it’s easy.

I’m jealous of one thing all my previous partners have the ability to do. They can fall asleep, sometimes literally, within 30 seconds of their heads touching the pillow.

😔

Yeah me too, nothing worse than jumping into bed & then laying there for ages trying to get to sleep especially if whoever your sharing the bed with goes out like a light & then fucking snores.
For me tho it’s all about recognising those waves of tiredness, if I time it right & i am getting better at it I can be the 1st 1 asleep & snoring but if I’m not at the peak of that wave I’m better off just waiting till I am rather than kicking the sheets for an hour. Any stims still in my system & obviously it’s 10 times worse.
