Most of use have dealt with or currently experience dreaded tooth pain for whatever reason, drugs, alcohol, bad luck or bad choices I am willing to bet that 3/4 of all know how bad this can get. And if not...well, aren't you a lucky ******. This can be at times damn near immobilizing, completely taking control of any situation and basically fucking up your day and putting the brakes on shit that needs done. A very quick solution for the pain without the opiates and such is Excedrin Migraine. In the many years of dealing with this not once has it not worked nor can I think of one person who has tried it told me it didn't work like a magical fukkin miracle:green banana:.

I do recall someone once telling me it upset their stomach but the tooth pain was gone so I'm not claiming this will absolutely work for everyone and caution and the ever illusive common sense still needs to be applied when taking any kind of meodication.

What I am saying is that in my experience and that of people around me this in most cases works better than pain killers, quicker and longer lasting as well. Cheaper a lot of the time too. I dunno, just wanted to throw that out there as I know how much mouth pain sux. Do what you will with it but be safe regardless.....:Halloween:

I could see that working better than stronger drugs, being anti-inflammatory and I think it has caffeine which wouldn't hurt either it might just help by increasing circulation. Tooth pain though really puts opioids in their place

Once during an emergency root canal the dentist told me the throbbing pain that's so agonizing is caused when infection of the nerve and surrounding tissues exude pus within the very narrow canal putting pressure on the nerve...and taking his sweet time explaining this as he was drilling down after giving me multiple shots that were ineffective and howling in excruciating pain until he exposed and jabbed a needle right down through the top of the tooth into the infected pulp and unleashed a torrent of blessed Novocaine which instantly ended the suffering. "Thank God for the Coca plant" I said, making him chuckle. "Thanks asshole" I wanted to add but didn't

I swear one of the best tooth pain analgesics is capsaicin. When I had dry sockets the only thing that took the pain away was some capsaicin. I was even using pure capsaicin in vinegar which worked the best.

Takes away pain for about an hour.

Actually you should take antibiotics sometimes, gengivitis is a well know that mimica sinus pain ( upper tooths) i know better, i had some problems myself and while I am aware that body chemistry is real I am pretty sure on my engravings. I know that when you wash your teeths you shouldn't eat/drink anything for at least 30m and you can't be that bust come on, as for analgesics ketoprofen I came to a conclusion that shit is a semi antibiotics, best used for teeths but in my case it helpt my infected, remember my infected skin thing which caused my submandibular gland to be swollen which looked like an icecicle.

Does it take the pain away or distract you with a different kind of pain?

It truly takes the pain away. It’s not like a alternative pain that simply takes the mind away. Reason being is the pain killing properties last long after the burn has subsided. And not even much was needed. I’d use capsaicin in vinegar or hot sauce.

“Broadly speaking and in the more complex in vivo or ex vivo context, TRPV1 has been linked to thermo-sensation (heat), autonomic thermoregulation, nociception, food intake regulation and multiple functions in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract [22]. Specifically in CNS, the receptor has also been involved in growth cone guidance, long-term depression, endocannabinoid signaling and osmosensing, the latter by a particular TRPV1 variant.”

Essentially Capsaicin is a TRPV1 agonist which, among other things, seems to effect our perception of pain. There’s likely some cascading effect where downstream endorphins are released to “protect” from what is perceived to be burning but in reality no chemical burn or damage is done.

To be fair though I haven’t really found it to kill much other pains, maybe I just haven’t tried. It seemed highly effective for mouth pain but maybe that’s because these receptors then allow for a localized pain relief. Kinda spitballing at this point but Capsaicin is without a doubt a drug.

Capsaicin to me is in the category of light drugs. It hangs out with chocolate, coffee, and kava. Definitely active but not something your gonna take on a Friday night if ya know what I mean. Well not with the intention of getting high at least lol.

Here’s an article going over other common drugs role in TRPV1..
