Opioids 20mg Codeine + 200mg Ibuprofen question, Ex-Tramadol user.

Ive occasionally tried Tramadol for my back pain and while it didn't do much for the pain, was very euphoric, even at 50mg lol. I used to do 100-150mg (max i ever did or intend to do) and would be high/in a very very good euphoric state and nodding even lasting on the following day.

So I guess ive been blessed with the right enzymes lol. Thats why i sparingly use it, only like once a month or so. People always say tramadol high is just SNRI high and lot less opiate high so since its been 2 weeks since my last tramadol dose(100mg), i wanted to try codeine. I got 10 pills (20mg codeine + 200mg ibuprofen) at my disposal and was thinking of taking it slow and smart and downing 4 pills, that would be 80mg codeine and 800mg ibuprofen, the safest way possible. My question is, due to my tramadol usage and even though im really sensitive to trams and weigh only 60KG, would 80mg Codeine do anything or is it just a waste?, should i do a CWE and go bigger like 150mg codeine?, Thanks!

I would just see how you get on with the 80mg to start off. 800mg ibuprofen isn’t awfully hard on the stomach but to be sure I’d encourage you to take them an hour and half after a meal.

Just be wary, whilst it’s true that the SNRI element can have an effect on how people enjoy tramadol it can also be the fact that it’s how their metabolism process it.

There are also people who are ultra rapid metabolisers who actually should stay away from codeine as it metabolises into morphine very quickly and can pose an OD risk.

Honestly for using codeine the first time I'd suggest just taking 1 pill first (20mg in your case) and waiting 2 hours. Like @MsDiz said some people are very sensitive to codeine, you don't want to take 150mg and then realize you are allergic to it. Especially if you don't have anti-histamines on hand.

If you can get some esomeprazole that's sold otc in supermarkets and is like omeprazole (a PPI) that would protect your stomach from ibuprofen a bit at least.
Patients on NSAIDs (ibuprofen is one of them) for the long term are always prescribed a PPI along with them. Try not to go above 800mg of ibuprofen at a time because it can cause stomach bleeding and kidney issues and even hemorrhagic strokes so it's not safe at all to abuse.
Some think it's ok to do shitloads of it because it's not paracetamol. Wrong.

Thanks!, I'll try 40mg first and wait 2 hours and if everything works out ill take another 40mg. Hopefully things go well!...This way there'll be gap between ibuprofen 400mg dosage as well which is a bonus albiet a moot point as ive had ibuprofen 800mg a lot due to some medical condition.

@Tramalala Thanks for the thought dude and good for any other newbie like me to know about allergies but ive had codeine before, just never recreationally....and im only doing this as a way to not take tramadol anymore as even though i take it once a month, i always crave it when things dont work out irl or some petty ass break up. Im worried my strong will wont hold up and run out as its been a year and a half that im having this battle with trams..Whats your experience with it btw?

20mg of coding wouldn't even suppress a cough much less help any pain

the thing is that you can't really stack doses with codeine like it tramadol, so if you take 40mg and after 2 hours another 40mg it wouldn't really help you much. I would say to take 20mg to see if you are alergic or prone to any side effects and then do a CWE for a dose of about 120mg the next day, it's a decent dose for someone kind of new to opioids. but it won't feel like tramadol at all, so don't have expectations of that nature, codeine can still be nice. I usually use it when I get on a harder opiate for a long time to kind of taper down with it but have done it for recreational purposes . Anyway don't do it for a long time as you can still get physical withdrawals from it if you get hooked. good luck, have fun and stay safe

Follow-up question, if you don't mind. I've been taking 6 Nurofen plus tablets in one go. Am I crazy? That's 1,200 mg ibuprofen in one go - so, a daily recommended dosage in one hit. And sadly it seems I need a fairly empty stomach to get any hit from it. I've tried cold filtration but it never feels remotely the same as the full pills. In short, is 1,200 mg ibuprofen in one dose crazy?? I know older people with rheumatoid arthritis could have 3,200 mg in a day, but I'd like to have functioning kidneys for another 50 years...

Who remembers when df 118's (Dihydrocodeine) came in 40mg and the ER came in up to 120mg which you'd just chew up?

Honestly, it’s a lot of ibuprofen and you’re opening yourself up to getting an ulcer which I promise you is not fun.
