I always watch this kid playing piano when I’m in the worst pain because it makes me smile so much. So this is what I’m listening to today. My son is too hellbent on classical to play something like this.

think i've posted it before but fooking love it
Well she's no Alissa White-Gluz (from Arch Enemy). But I like it boet!

Nice. It's something I've noticed over the years though i.e. kids are definitely showing good and proper talent at far earlier ages. Just look at some of these child prodigies of today. Some professionals have spent their lives practicing and studying to become as good. Not saying that particular kid fits the bill. But you know what I mean.

Nothing wrong with being hell bent on classics. One thing is for sure: classical will outlive us all. And it's a totally different skill set and art and that's above most. And especially if he's got "feeling" for it. I've seen some famous concert pianists literally bang their way through a piece and get away with it just because they're famous. While I've seen other, lesser known prodigies, play the same piece and with such feeling and emotion that it's like chalk and cheese.

Today is Django Reinhardt day.
I cannot tell a lie. I had to look him up. Interesting to note (for me anyway) that Tony Iommi had much to say and a lot of respect for your dude (given that they both had mishaps with their left hands). These forums sure are the gift that keeps on giving. Not something I'd go out and buy. But nice one! :)

I am an absolute music hoarder.
I have a collection of ca. 6000 CDs and Vinyls.
I mean I mostly use the data, that stuff is in my basement.
A big chunk of it is my father's(and his father's) collection (about 80% I'd say)

So I always find these little pearls like Django ^^

You’re damn right he does! Haha I was forced through piano lessons as a child. Seriously though, it’s really good for kids to learn to play an instrument and his dad is incredibly talented in that arena so...
Cool! How about you, Diz? Got any musical talents?
I was forced to play the violin for four years... Not as fun as the piano, or as forgiving for the parents; most of the time, it sounded as if I was torturing a cat.

I’ve been playing piano since I was about 3. I was very much forced as a young child but grew up then loving it. I still practice everyday for an hour or so at the least. I want to play violin actually, it’s something I’ve been thinking about. It’s an amazing instrument and I’ve been obsessed recently with listening to strings only.
