Am researchng for an essay on porn and am wondering how some stuff on pornohub is even legal????

Incest consensual or not is sick, my question was is this incest porn that claims to be real really
I'd imagine it's rare to have a mate who's fucked their sister, and incredibly improbable to know more than one, and even more unlikely to be aware of it

I mean who would advertise that?

Can you imagine, Shady just chillin with his crew and then, after the after-dinner mints, one of them casually refers to fucking their sister? And on more than one occasion?

And I thought some of my friends were freaks - Shady mixing in some very strange circles to say the least
The family that plays together stays together, they say.

There is an online petition you can sign if you wish ... to remove Pornhub from Internet ... but yeah, like that'll happen.

The "ban Pornhub" movement has arisen in response to allegations that Pornhub has published videos made by child sex traffickers - see:

Whoops, here is petition link too - I signed it, but tbh I doubt very much it's going to destroy Pornhub ... still, like me, you might want to sign on principle!

So they provide a platform and people avidly abuse it.

Facebook, etc. have the same problem (i.e. the facebook livestream shootings, or ... whatever .... drama from the past I remember)

To require them to screen everything before allowing a submission would be mind-bogglingly impossible given how much porn there is out there.

I think society would be better off without things like pornhub and facebook HOWEVER I appear to be a minority voice saying things like that.

So you think incest is ok, as long as it’s consensual? You know of multiple people who have done this?
i'm happy to talk about it openly, its actually quite theraputic.

i think that its possible for some women to be doing sex work without it having negative effects on them. if they have not been sexually abused, and are doing it for their own enjoyment, rather than desperation for money for drugs. i think that it may even feel empowering to have such complete ownership over your body. but for such a woman there is always a risk that a punter will cross a line that will tarnish it forever.

for me, according to both a therapist who specialises in sexual abuse and my normal addiction therapist, there was such a clear cause and effect between my sexual abuse and sex work that it was essentially a continuation of the abuse. to survive the abuse, because it went on about a year, i had to become completely numb to what happened to my body to survive, even though i was still obsessed with murdering the perpetrator and still fantasise about it to this day. obviously there are vast differences between abuse and prostitution, but they are inextricably linked. when i stopped using heroin to blot everything out, i was just as haunted, if not more, by the sex work i had done than by the earlier abuse situation i'd been in.
Thanks for sharing that ... aside
from my cuz (who died several years ago) I have never known a sex worker well and it is interesting to hear the point

Thanks for your openness: one so rarely gets the sex worker's point of view at all.

Aside from my cousin, who died several years ago, I've never personally known person who did sex work. As a side note, she died from a heroin OD, but not while addicted. It was that frequently-seen situation where a person hasn't used for ages and overestimates how much they can safely use.

I do recall her having a very few "regulars" for years, even after she'd stopped using heroin, and I got the impression she thought they were decent. I think at least one guy was quite elderly and just a bit lonely.

God I'm sick of people dying from that. :(

Thing is... I think people don't realize just how potent reasonably pure heroin is. Like, putting aside the fentanyl issue we have today.

You ever seen how much heroin it takes to get an opioid naive person high? It's nothing. And most people start heroin after already being opioid tolerant to something else. So they don't realize just how crazy little they need if they haven't used in ages.

It's... Just so fucked, and it happens again and again. :(

There's a lot of crap you hear about the supposed "stringent standards" that Pornhub and other big porn sites have when it comes to keeping it legal.

For example, a guy once told me that if you want to post home-made porn on Pornhub, you need to include:
- non-pornographic video of yourself and the other person/s, declaring in camera that the film was made consensually, that you consent to the upload
- a photograph of everyone's ID, including photo ID like a driver's licence, so Pornhub mods can compare with the on-camera declaration to make sure it's really bona fide.

This person can't have been talking about about Pornhub! My (so far pretty cursory) research has confirmed that all you need to do to upload to Pornhub is provide an email addess and tick a couple of boxes.

It would seem to follow, logically, that given such lax rules, of course Pornhub hosts material depicting people who are under 18. Or under 16, or even younger. But we needn't rely on logic alone, because there's a shitload of stuff in the news since early this year about Pornhub's failure to prevent content showing children/teens from appearing on their platform.

Now I take the point that Pornhub is not the only bad guy here, and that the nature of the internet is such that it's impossible to completely eradicate the evil stuff.

BUT Pornhub is the most-visited porn platform on the internet. And most users trust Pornhub to be legal. So I personally think that if Pornhib had better regs, they could make a huge difference.

What do people think?

If Pornhub demanded that "home made" uploads must be accompanied by separate "consent affirmation" video plus photo ID toprove age of partcipants, would it make a difference?

Aside from inconveniencing people who want to upload porn (as such measures obviously would), can anyone foresee pitfalls in this suggestion?

I totally *totally* think that's false. Or you wouldn't have like 8 accounts uploading the same video.

It would take a lot of staff resources to verify the information indicating appropriate age and consent to any extent. (I’m not against it, just making a point.)
Also, just because someone is willing to upload porn doesn’t mean they would want to identify themselves or give out identifying information scammers or hackers could use.
I support a verification process of some kind, but I can see a lot of difficulties.

I knew and loved THREE people who died from ODs in these circs ... ie not addicted, and over- estimated.
I worry a lot of about my daughter sometimes... who so far is (I am fairly sure) naive to all drugs ... anyway, my main advice to her on the subject is "if you're messing with drugs, just don't do smack. But if you must try smack, make sure you're going to be around a lot of people so there's someone to call the ambulance if you drop ..."

PS : hell, I OD'd once just from taking an Ectstasy tab that had some smack in it ... went unconscious anyway.

Id add to that a naloxone kit. Do it around people and make sure they have a naloxone kit.

I still have one just as a precaution.

That was certainly my experience. I OD first time using heroin - was only saved by the fact I was already full of amphetamine sulfate. I still ended up waking up in the ER.

@MrsGamp What’s the basic gist of the article you are planning on writing? Where do you want to publish it?
Originally was going to be more "academic" in tone - a sort of meditation on how aesthetics and sexual politics collapse into each other in porn-as-"text", with main target being a cultural studies journal called Signs.

But now that I've got all this Pornhiub stuff, am thinking of just doing a general freelance journalism thing about Pornhub. Have discovered some unsolicited-manuscript friendly Australian magazines ... in particular Archer, Not Dead Yet.

More generally there's also online magazines like Bitch, Ravishly and Women's Voices for Change.

Also thought once I've written my piece, might "baptize" my so far inert tumblr account by posting it there.

Of course I will also post it here, under Words, before sending it anywhere, in case anyone is feeling kindly enough to proofread it and offer suggestions :)

So ...

am about to crack out thesaurus and start writing it up properly ...

Please note, I am making a point of announcing all this out loud on Bluelight and I strongly encourage people to actively give me shit if I haven't made significant headway with my Pornhub article by this time next Sunday!

Cos it's so easy to procrastinate ...

I can see that would be an issue, but on the upside it could create a lot of jobs!
if it was applied across the board it would put pornhub out of business, obviously.
I was mainly thinking they could apply such regs to people uploading home-made content - since most professional porn producers are (supposedly) careful to make sure everyone is over 18, etcetera

As far as I am aware, correct. Literally just have an account is what I think. I have never uploaded porn to pornhub and would not know.
well, like myself and most people, you're not an uploader!

I think a lot of adults who browse big porn sites now and then assume that cos the site is so mega and widely used, this means all the content is vetted and legal.

Certainly a lot of people think this is true of Pornhub. Certainly Pornhub try to give that impression.

But it's simply not the case.

Uploading whatever you want on Pornhub is not nearly as challenging as, say, jay-walking without getting run over!
