Misc Baclofen is garbage. Don’t ever get it!

Somebody on here recommended a drug cocktail for withdrawal that included Baclofen. So I called my Dr and he tried to talk me out of it. Said I’d be better off with Flexeril but I insisted because generally the people in these forums know more about (recreational) drug use than doctors. But boy did I get bit in the ass on this one. Gonna tell my doc (with my tail between my legs) to switch me to Flexeril then.

It doesn’t do shit. I took 8 of em last night. All that did was make my hands twitchy. Like if I was holding a cup of coffee I’d be liable to drop it if my hands twitched. Its like your hands fall asleep for a split second then wake right back up. The damn stuff is useless.

Hey there Shant. I understand where you're coming from here. You're experience with Baclofen is such that you dont consider it to be "good" or "useful".

What would help us would be knowing what exactly you were trying to get from it in the first place. Some folks have expressed benefit in using Baclofen to treat withdrawal syndromes from various drugs.

I think if you were expecting freedom from negative symptoms, yes, you were probably barking up the wrong tree. I think it provides some people with minor benefit, but it's not a wonder drug. Shooting from the hip, I would say that those who experience true benefit from Baclofen is probably lower than those who do.

We definitely arent doctors. We form opinions based upon our own research, experience and the experiences of our peers. What we end up with are just that, opinions. Some things work really well for people and not for others, so always keep that in mind.

That’s exactly what I was trying to do, I was in withdrawal and I wanted to add a muscle relaxer to help me get to sleep. Somas sure do the trick, I figured so would these. WRONG. I’m not gonna sot here and tell everyone that if they got benefits from Baclofen they’re wrong, or it was just psychological. I’m sure in some select situations it’s better than nothing. But I WILL say, as far as muscle relaxing/sleep goes, you’ve got about a half a dozen better options.

I’m telling you, don’t bother. My doctor was like “Shant I’m telling you it’s not what you think it’s gonna be. Go with Flexeril.” And I still turned him
Down. What a dope I am.

Actually, I've talked to a lot of different people who have been through a similar situation. Carisoprodol (Soma) is in a completely different league than drugs like Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) and/or Baclofen.

Carisoprodol is a pro drug for the delivery of a drug known as Meprobamate (Miltown). Meprobamate is known as a "non-Barbiturate". The Nomenclature is a little confusing, as a non-Barbiturate is a drug that closely mimics the effects of Barbiturates while being chemically and pharmacological distinct.

Carisoprodol is actually a powerful sedative. It's not surprising that it would do the trick for you and your symptoms. It is not surprising that the other drugs mentioned here paled in comparison. I feel that most people would share your experience given similar circumstances.

Yes, I had a super bad experience with Baclofen about 2 weeks ago. I can attest to the same thing about your hands going to sleep. I was dropping everything. And I wasn’t able to get my words out properly. The really bad thing was that my experience lasted over 24 hours. I think I took just
4x10mg Baclofen over the course of 6 hours.

Keif, I just read your comments above mine. I didn’t realize that cyclobenzabrine = Flexeril. I have about 120 of them. I got them from one doctor after I hurt my back but I ended up seeing my pain doc the next day and he prescribed the Baclofen so I think I may have taken a flexeril once, but it was years ago.
Is flexeril better for muscle pain? Better for opiate withdrawals?

Hey Bella! That is what I'm telling you :) Cyclobenzaprine does work well for some people, as does Baclofen. The only way to know for sure is to give them each a fair try before deciding.

Like OP was getting at in the first place, neither Cyclobenzaprine nor Baclofen are likely to provide satisfactory mitigation of withdrawa lmk symptoms. I think either could be a reasonable addition to a withdrawal medication cocktail, but not on their own.

Flexeril will definitely help you more. Flexeril has put me to sleep before actually. So has Roboxin (sp?)). Baclofen? Ha! Yeah right. Very surprised you got the hand thing too. And the not being able to get words out! Can’t believe i forgot about that. I’m telling you that shit ain’t worth it.

Yo Keif, is there any chance you can post a list of muscle relaxers in order of effectiveness? Is soma the best?

If you take too much of it, it FORCED you to sleep like a general anaesthetic and I'm not exaggerating. And the sleep is no deep that I've been asleep on it and had people shaking me hard and screaming in my face and they've gotten zero responce,

How much did you take? I took 8 all at once and only got the retarded effects. Shaky hands and retard speech.

What were you in withdrawal from?

Baclofen is really only suited for treating withdrawal from phenibut, GHB, various gabapentinoids and to some limited degree, alcohol.

Baclofen also supposedly has some efficacy in reducing cocaine cravings for cocaine and crack addicts.

That said, if I were in severe opioid withdrawal I'd probably take the baclofen if I have nothing else.

Well there you go. I was kicking opiates. Bah what a waste. Is there anything better than soma? What would be 2nd best?

@Keif' Richards so I took 10mg of Flexeril about 30 minutes ago because my head is pounding, I’m still recovering from COVID. But now I’m super sleepy. I even took a Vyvanse this morning. What should I do? Another Vyvanse? Help! I have a lot to do today!
I told you it would make you sleepy. If you gotta get stuff done, unless you’ve got stimulants to counter it, you’re probably gonna have to wait it out.

I have no idea. I bought 1g in powder form because it was literally 20 x more expensive mg/mg to get the pills and I was just eyeballing the doses.

Powder form? You sure you didn’t get some fenny instead? 😁

Haha nooo just like 2mg of fentanyl can be dangerous. Plus...no one is gonna sell a G of Fentanyl for less than £5. Plus it was online and the guy had dozens and dozens of reviews on it including people who had sent theirs off for testing and it was pure Baclofen.
