Are doctors with or against helping people continue their drug use?

It felt wrong, and I felt violated when I basically had to yell "I'm ON ANTIPSYCHOTICS!!!" to 2 other people in the room. Yet he has a point, I knew he could probably fire me if I couldn't stay awake at work. So luckily I was able to quit before they fired me. Miss that job, mostly the people and amazing benefits and pay.

Not sure what you're talking about. Certainly made a lot of posts about the piss test but never said I got the job??

I'm certainly known to post drunk/high as shit but I doubt I said anything like getting that job. Doesn't make sense. If I did, I would have posted proudly about it.
 
Mine apparently had nothing to do with any drug use, as I don't dabble in illegal drugs - unless you consider committing suicide with massive doses of Nembutal as illegal drug use (technically I guess it is).

One doctor I saw at Wyong Hospital when I presented to the emergency dept. with sudden hearing loss in my right ear even refused oral prednisolone which is the standard treatment for sudden hearing loss. She must have thought I was bunging on an act or something, because the paramedic who took me there, before we went into the ambulance, he asked me what would happen if they didn't give me the steroids. Well, I guess you all know the rest of the story. It's in "The Dark Side" and it's a pretty lengthy expletive-laced read, and it's emotionally charged so be prepared to feel at least something if you do decide to read.

Doctors here in Australia don't just treat drug addicts like fucking shit. They also treat people with anxiety disorders and other psychiatric disorders like fucking shit too. Myself being a prime example. I could have lost my life. That's how fucking bad this problem is and it needs to stop.

I don’t doubt your experience or that there are some asshole doctors in Australia but there are also plenty who try and help people despite the system. I have nothing but praise for several public heath system doctors who realised I was not a drug addict but a person with psychiatric problems who was self-medicating and then treated me accordingly. Despite a history of drug abuse I still get prescribed benzos, z-drugs and amphetamine because I have doctors who are familiar with my long history and with whom I’ve been able to build a relationship.

In Australia if you are an opiate addict you get looked after pretty well with opportunities for substitution drugs like methadone. It’s people with stimulant problems who get a rough deal since there are no proven/accepted pharmaceutical interventions for them and they simply get 12-stepped or drop out of the system.

The secret though is to go through doctors experienced with both mental health and substance abuse cases and not the average overworked ER doctor on an Saturday night or your average GP who is just pumping as many patients through his practice as he can.
 
Here in Austria we have the possibility to decide whether somebody wants all their stuff on their e-cards so that every pyhsician can see your medical history or not . OF COURSE NOT! And it works. But it's good for eldery people, though.

Yes, because of a relationship and they are familiar with you. That makes all the difference. It's not what you know, it's who you know, that counts.

My last good doctor passed away from stomach cancer. If you're familiar with Dr Gerry Paul, he was one of the nicest doctors you could ever find. Every other doctor I've ever had has not been quite as good, but most of them have been OK. For example, I never had any problem getting medications that I need from Dr Paul, he even gave me a list of doctors that handle ADHD as well, just in case I might have had it. It turns out I most likely have Aspergers, or something along those lines and not ADHD, but I keep getting these horrible thought loops and those thought loops are the reason I flushed 18 grams of Nembutal down the toilet on the 14th July. It just couldn't stomach those thought loops any more and wanted to eliminate as many risk factors for self-harm as possible, which of course I did. I am struggling with one of these thought loops right as I type this.

The one at Wyong Hospital wasn't good at all, considering she could have left me with fucked up hearing. What's so upsetting is she told me it was rare yet refused to treat it properly. Doctors like that don't deserve to interact with patients and should really be struck off, since she wouldn't even follow standard protocol for the condition which I knew I had. I consider myself so lucky. Doctors who ignore patients, patronise them and put them in such a dark place that they seriously consider suicide should be investigated, because you will find the doctor was clearly in the wrong...not all the time, but the vast majority of the time and it's just not good enough.

Same in Australia. They just introduced it. Luckily we had the chance to opt out. There is no way I want every doctor or pharmacist being able to see my entire mental health history. Eventually the insurance companies will be able to see the data which is really fucked.
 
My doctor is fresh out of school so he does everything by the book. He knows I'm on methadone and I explained it started with my last doctor but i doubt i will ever get opiates from him unless surgery or something.
Here in Canada our health is so protected another doctor can't look up your chart without written consent so an employer definitely couldn't.

After valve #3 or #4, due to physical limitations due to scar tissue, is when surgeons will start declining. If you're a really bad addict with a terrible history, if it's tricuspid valve (most likely valve for intravenous use because it's first valve the bacteria hits), they'll do one surgery and cut it out and leave you with no valve - that's the truly scary concern.

my tricuspid valve is bicuspid because it’s defective and it’s regurgitating as well. It’s thickening over time and that’s why I’ll eventually need the replacement. Thanks for the info, that’s good to know, so more of a chance than I thought won’t be turned down in the case that I’m in a spot with my addictions when the time comes.

i dont wanna come clean and tell everything to the doctor, and then in the future apply for a job, and not get hired because they can see everything i visited the doctor for and there by decreasing my chances in getting a job?

In the US, Hipaa protects our medical privacy. But I have learned we have to be pro-active on it. Also, we need to read all the kajillion forms medical offices make us sign. Some of those forms are concerning our privacy. Make sure you get copies of everything you sign.

Their delivery system it's based on irony, they're well known for fake prescriptions because they don't know what they're doing. Like anything else, they want their sauce and go back home to go on with their daily life and that's why the health care system it's wrecked. In one word, you can say ''Titanic'' and you incubate the whole feeling. Because there are mass cases of unemployment and they need to sign and say ''Yeah, this man'' you know like school certificates. but we got past that and so now the balance of informations it's better -- because it's 2020 and most people now are aware that we need to evolve and so this hasn't happend that often but add jail to this and you have pretty high chances, I speak from personal experiences -- I had a friend who was in the pen and still he don't got a job but I spoke for him -- here and there and he's all dandy but not all people have a social cercle or to put it better -- a diversified cercle.

Do you ever get annoying throbbing in your right external jugular vein or lower extremity edema because of the regurgitation? I've heard varying explanations about my valve, the echocardiograms say no regurgitation but the cardiologist says that because one of my pacemaker leads runs through the valve, it would never be able to fully close and allow some regurgitation. So just curious if those were ever symptoms for you with TR?

No I’ve never had these symptoms. All i notice is my heart goes into a bit of an arrhythmia from time to time or a chest pain. I’m so used to it now though that It doesn’t bother me anymore.

So far my heart is in healthy enough shape that I’m getting along well (enough) but it will keep deteriorating over time. I was told it would probably be around my 40s I’ll need the replacement. I don’t know what that’s going to look like symptomatically leading up to that time.

I would rather dr it out myself or just call it quits for ROA.

Don't metion drug use to a dr, except incase of an OD and such.
 
Switch to plugging, or tell your doc about the nasal issue without mentioning drug use. Fuck having drug use on your medical record, I wish we had that opt out option in the US.

I would only tell a doc about drug use if it was absolutely critical knowledge to have in order to save my life. Or if I knew the knowledge would never leave the doc's office.

I guess Drs are constrained in two ways. One is by various laws which vary country to country (e.g about prescribing certain drugs to addicts or recording abuse on one’s record). The other is the general Hippocratic principle of “do no harm” and different doctors will interpret that in different ways depending on their degree of conservatism.

Some fully buy into the “drugs are evil” program while others (a minority) recognise use can be managed within harm reduction guidelines / and one important area of harm reduction is preventing people being caught up in the legal system!

A doctor who allows that to happen would be a bit of a cunt but I’ve heard of it happening.
