Heroin The numbers system.

Hey y'all, kinda new here but like what I've seen. I've been using heroin for a good many years here in the upper Midwest and in Florida. One thing I have noticed on here that I had never heard before is the numbers placed on different types ( I guess) of heroin.
All I ever knew about it was we either got Tar, or mostly now powdered stuff of different colors. On here I've seen posts reference #3 #4 etc. Could someone please explain. Been around for more than a few years and have never had anyone call it a certain number.

Hey man welcome

So the numbering system is an outdated way to describe various “products/forms” along the way of purification.

#3 is freebase heroin and still contains a bit of impurities whereas #4 is the “completed” fully purified Heroin salt (typically Diacetylmorphine HCl).

This was used back when most of the heroin came from SE Asia, but because of differing manufacture techniques (such as Mexican Tar) it’s become more of a relic.

We use it on here because certain parts of the world, like in the EU, still get #3 freebase. But most of the world, US included, gets #4. (When it’s not 99% fent.)

Both upper Midwest/east coast powder/rock and southern Mexican Tar are considered #4.

Mexican Tar is essentially acetylated crude extract which contains all the other alkaloids but it’s still a heroin salt (albeit likely the acetate).

Thanks for the clarification. In northern Wisconsin its normally powder in various colors from yellowish tan, grey, almost black, that's obviously been rerocked. Works for both snorting and injection. Varies in quality from dope to hope to nope. Haven't had a problem with fent, small town so everyone still kinda watches out for each other. Thanks again.

That's surprising you can get heroin still in Northern Wisconsin, it's all fentanyl in Milwaukee. Haven't seen heroin #4 or black tar heroin in a couple years at this point. The fentanyl in Milwaukee is the colors you described as well, minus the black. Unless it's the grayish stuff with black speckles, and that's fentanyl too.

Hmmmmm, most of the stuff is coming from there or Chicago. Have seen tar here twice in 8 years or so. I normally stick with the black, and I had some tested last year and was told it was H. But thinking about it, the tan stuff especially seemed to be different. I just assumed it was shit, a bit of a good feeling as soon as you hit,but none of the warm hug feeling and hardly any legs at all. They must be mixing it right or something because have had hardly any ODs past couple years.

Yeah, the tan and grey stuff has barely no euphoria or the warm cloud 9 feeling, but all the smokers love it because it has "the taste" - I think it was a sweeter taste. No clue what that means, I never smoked it, but it's how they tell the difference between fent and heroin. Also, with repeated use it got to the point where I was dosing every couple hours. The stuff you get is black but isn't black tar heroin? Never seen anything like that, actually. And, yes, they have the cutting process perfected - haven't seen hot spots or clusters in a long time there. The price point is also lower, but I'm not sure if the economics of it would remain the same all the way up to Northern Wisconsin.

Number one is poppy stems, number two is opium, number three is purified acetylated opium, and number four is purified heroin. As it is off-white all the way to softly shiny it is very easy to make artificial héroïne with (nowadays) CarfuranylFentanyl and Etonitazene analogues

So what is it exctly you wanted to know ? The différence between # 3& #4, even if you have bin in it for years ? Maybe it'd an european thing ;#4 wemas from the French connctionn, existed in the 70-80s. #3 is mainly Afghanistan.

No need to even worry. In the usa east of the mississippi and up through canada is #4 powder. You will never see #3.

And on the west is black tar. Very weak compared to the #4 powder. There are a few places that have both, but generally how it is. Main difference here is you can smoke #3, but not #4.

However as described above, heroin #4 in the states is now a fent based cocktail. So its not even #4. Fent mixed with dorms and lactose. Perhaps salt, pixie sticks, drywall, lactose, or whatever they want to put in there.

Only time I have ever seen #3 dope in Canada was ordered from the DW like 8 years ago. it was of very good potency it seemed and cooked fine with citric.....in fact my friend was hurting as he had run out of his high dose hydromorphone rx. he did a 0.1 of the #3 and called to me complaining it didn't dissolve and it didn't do a thing. I told him to add a few drops of vinegar to the undissolved powder and new water. he said that immediately dissolved it and he was instantly fixed up.. on the streets of Toronto all the dope I used to see pre fentanyl epidemic seemed to be brownish powder that I assume was from the middle east..... typical vinegar like smell, just add ur dope to ur spoon, water and mix. no cooking needed and it would all go into solution. now all I see everywhere is purple and blue and green and grey fent powders
