Hey..

So here is the question basically. The alcohol you get in certain cough syrups, will it help with alcohol withdraw or at least as a temp replacement?

okay cool

Another question? the best one i can get, meaning one with the least amount of ingredients has the following:
200mg Guaifenesin
9.5 % alc v/v
per 10ml dose.

So how much of that gauifenesin can you have at once and just how safe is that substance. I know its a culprit to cause nausea too and with that said at what dosages does gauifenesin make you nauseous?

Surely it's easier and a lot more pleasant to just get more booze? You need to be careful what else the cough syrup contains as well.
We have a complete ban on alcohol in our country at the moment, so there is nowhere to buy (except illegally) which is getting way too dangerous now. Plus if caught with alcohol, its a straight 6 month jail sentence. So its just a temp alternative.

The average alcohol content of cough syrup is around 10%. So assuming a 200ml bottle you'd only be gettin 20ml of alcohol if you necked the lot. That's fuck all. Is it really worth it considering all the potential side effects from consuming all the other crap?
okay this part i dont get is the alc content per serving vs bottle vs per volume vs v/v and so on. So if they say a 10ml serving has 10% v/v what does that mean in lame mans terms. Sorry for asking.

No. This is your fast to go when you don't have any money and you're addicted aka ''Rubbing Alcohol''. Alcohol withdrawal may vary depending on how you are. On old people it may even cause death on the youngers one not so much, not at all actually. Also depending on how old you've been using. No, my advice go to your doc, see what's what and then we can proceed further if there's any other advice but first we need to have a professional opinion on this, unfortunately here we don't have such things and even if we did, words can't replace a proper visit to your doc. Hope you figure it out. Stay home, stay safe. Let's.. let's get this fuckin Pretzel-19 over with.

Codeine linctus has ~100mg alcohol per 5ml according to the bottle. I happily drink the stuff and have never felt or even tasted the booze. It's small enough to be considered a minor ingredient. And that's 100mg per 5ml not per bottle remember. I really doubt you will get significant alcohol content from cough syrup unless the stuff you get in your country is a higher level.

Temp alternative because you’re an alcoholic or just to get drunk?
If you’re an alcoholic I would definitely be going to your dr and getting some proper advice. You can’t hold yourself with cough mixture and the additives won’t be pleasant.

Okay sweet, so at the end of the day its of no help.

will consult a Doctor/Professional on this.

Thanks
Yes definitely do, please don’t risk alcohol withdrawal, it is very dangerous even with cough syrup it won’t hold you as I said. The dr will help I’m sure. Pretty horrible for them to ban alcohol, clearly not thinking of those who are alcohol dependant. Very unfair. All the best to you. Let us know how you’re getting on. X

Definitely agree on seeing a doctor. They can give you stuff to help prevent dangerous withdrawal.

But, and I say this purely for harm reduction reasons, and keep in mind I'm not big on alcohol so there may be better options still than what I'm about to say that I just don't know about.

But I know there are various flavorings like vanilla essence, orange essence, that contain lots of alcohol. Sometimes so much they can literally be set on fire if you're not careful.

I'm not by any means suggesting that ingesting those is a good idea, but they're probably still less harmful that cough syrups and such. And they are usually less regulated.

There is also a way of extracting the alcohol from hand sanitiser which can be up to 70% v/v. But good luck getting that...
I've drank hand sanitizer a couple times i the past, I wouldn't do it again, I herd if you drink it to much you can go blind from repeated use
