Hi everyone! I'm Luminaria (or Lum for short), it's nice to meet you all!

I actually only discovered this site a few months ago while on a binge searching up drug-related information and harm reduction. So far I've only tried smoking weed and consuming edibles (the latter being a lot of fun), I'm very much looking forward to exploring deeper into the world of psychedelics and other substances when I eventually wean off of Lexapro. Being an illustrator and growing writer who grew up surrounded by abstract art, I would love to venture deeper into the dream worlds I've seen over the course of my life and share my experiences with as many people as I can. It would be fascinating seeing beyond what my mind conjures up while asleep.

.... I won't lie though; being an older internet user, a good chunk of what made me join was the fact that this forum is still very active! :p I miss the olden days before Discord and social media replaced forums, despite not being suitable areas for discussion! Maybe IRC will make a come back someday too, hahah.

Hi @Luminaria :)

We have a lot of great members here who have great experiences in psychedelics. I was about to name drop and mention some cool cats, but i figure that multiple experiences of the forum in general is better than just singling out a couple of my favorite posters. But if it does get to the point where you're looking for something oddly specific or something along those lines, hit me up and i'll message you a couple names of people who really know what they're talking about, but again, you've probably already read a lot of their posts.

Anyway, that's a cool reason to want to dive into the world of psychedelics. All i can say, with my little knowledge, is one must be in a good state of mind while tripping to make the best of it. Similar to weed, actually. IME, when i smoke weed it doesn't instantly make me happy. It does a lot of magnifying my current emotional state. Same with psychedelics, IME.

Welcome to Bluelight and feel free to private message anyone who you feel is helpful!

I'm an oldie internet user as well. Can't get into the social media platforms either, I much prefer forums like this one! It's one of a handful of forums that still gets a nice amount of traffic.

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us ;)

Thank you so much! I keep finding myself digging deeper and deeper into psychedelic experiences; to think that even simple substances can alter our senses in the magnitudes they do is incredible. Even if I end up experiencing a bad trip, I'm still excited. There's much to learn and reflect upon from things like that and I want to explore my inner self as much as I can.

It's like people forgot "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"! Something I find so bizarre is when established, high traffic forums migrate to Discord. One forum I used to be part of did this, and now they have almost 4,000 people sitting in one server. Another one I've heard about apparently has ~150k people... all in one server. Then they sit around wondering why it lags, why discussion and resource organization is so cluttered. Real time chat areas are endless amounts of fun, but being used as a complete forum replacement? There's something about that which doesn't sit right with me!

It's so nice to meet you guys! 😊

That’s what I absolutely love about psychedelics and why they’re the only class of substances I’ll probably use til I die. No matter how far down you dig there’s still more to be discovered. The rabbit hole is endless.

You learn cocaine, heroin, meth, for the most part on the first good experience with the drug. From there it’s a shadow of those first few times. Not psychedelics..

Well glad to have ya :)

There are some really cool people here who are knowledgeable and experienced in psychedelics. @Xorkoth is one of our administrators and it is a huge passion of his. You should check out our Psychedelic Drug subforum. Also, our Trip Reports section is really fun to read. You can find some pretty in depth descriptions of the experiences of those dream worlds you were mentioning.

We used to be more active several years ago, but I agree with you...something just clicks with me when it comes to this kind of format. I grew up on video game forums, movie forums, etc. I can't tell you how happy it makes me that others feel that same feeling. We have a nice little community here. Hope you stick around!

Forums are so much better than Discord/etc... they keep an archive of discussion, and allow you to keep up with conversations without being there all the time. Reddit is kinda like that but what you're shown is based on popularity and it's not very conducive to long-term threads. Glad you're appreciating old-school forums, and Bluelight in particular. :)
