Hey everyone!

I just wanted to make a quick hello & introduce myself. I’m currently on MMT & also volunteer in my cities local harm reduction organization. I was an old member of Opiophile & would occasionally check things out here but took til today to finally join.

I‘ve got over 20 years experience with many different substances. I hope to add value to discussions here & learn a little too. I studied psychology & sociology in college & I’m a dog lover and a follower of all things Phish. I’m looking forward to meeting some cool folks.

Oh & my screen name “Meloish” it’s pronounced by combining the word “Me” with the first half of the word “lotion” (Me-Loish). It’s some random nickname my bro & sis called me as stoned 12 year olds.

It doesn’t really mean anything. But for some reason, it makes me think of Boris Yeltsin. I guess if I were a fat, stoned Russian dude. I think I’d be down for the name Meloish. There, that's a thing you know now.

Nice to meet ya. :)

Hey,

Cool intro @Meloish!

Wicked excited to have you. What exactly do you do at the volunteer program? And what would you say your DOC is?

Lol, family smoke sesh at 12 years old sounds fucking amazing. I smoked with my sister and her boy friend when i got older in high school and had a great time playing mini golf. My sister is so funny stoned. She just giggles and gets all shy.. usually wicked bubbly.

Welcome to Bluelight! Hope to see you around!

Peace.

Hi, there, as far as harm reduction goes; several like minded people came together (I was one) and we started a non-profit. We currently distribute naloxone, safe use kits, condoms as well as do training for overdose reversals. Recently we branched out to Hep-C testing. A finger prick/rapid test & provide referrals for coordination of care. We’ve grown a lot over the last year & being awarded grants have recieved have allowed us to purchase & equip a mobile unit to reach rural areas as well as getting a larger office to serve our home city. I’m both a volunteer and board member. It is very personal to me, giving back is part of my healing in the grieving process. I’ve lost a lot of people I love.

As far as my D.O.C. well, I worked my way through the drug list. Starting with herb then a very heavy focus in psychedelics in my younger days. Tripping probably several hundred times or more on LSD. I also Really liked the MDMA from the early 2000’s. It’s probably my favorite drug... all around it’s a fucking great one!! But there’s a difference in your favorite & what you do the most. I am glad that real molly is finally making a comeback though.

I moved onto a serious affair with coke, I have a perforated septum from those years... Ugh.. Of course all the others you’d expect alcohol, Special K, mushrooms, some meth, Oh... too this day another I really love is nitrous. Occasionally I have the opportunity to share a tank with friends. About the only drugs I can think of I still haven’t tried or fully experienced a good batch is probably a better way of saying it... 3 things

DMT, GHB & PCP. I really wanna try the first 2. Not so much on PCP.

Sorry this is long- So about 15 years ago I started chipping with the OG- OC’s. For all my knowledge of drugs I had little understanding of the gravity of an opiate addiction. I got into oxy heavy & when they shifted to the OP’s that gel up... well, I switched to sniffing heroin. That eventually escalated to shooting then all the rest... sub clinics , rehab, methadone clinics... repeat. Experimenting with kratom, lope, pods, seeds. Learning about narcan, ibogaine, vivitrol & now helping run a non-profit.

So I guess you could say that opiates are my current focus & technically heroin would be my DOC. But I’m a huge fan of psychedelics. To this day, even though I’m fairly clean now. Fairly... Lol. I still have a mushroom experience about 2X a year. I also have a dance-safe test kit so I’m always on the look out for GREAT molly. It’s my drug of choice for special events. Like shows & festivals.. etc.

:)

Some day you should write a thread on the ins and outs of starting a needle exchange/harm reduction program in your area. That’s something I’ve bern curious of doing but no idea where or how to start.

Otherwise glad to have you around! :)
