I also have met quite a number who became addicted to hard drugs, infected with HIV or developed AIDS, and many who were robbed, assaulted/beat up, trafficked, and raped by clients. This even happened especially in countries where prostitution is legaised, decriminalised, or tolerated. The majority of people who pay for sex are not always good people, or they know that it is a business transaction, based on the prostitute being paid for sex or sexual acts including sometimes fetish or BDSM/kinks, and many clients of prostitutes have the attitude or mentality that since they paid a prostitute for sex they can do whatever sex act they want including unsafe sex, or basically raping a person.
Porn films have been advertisement for prostitutes for many decades, as people in porn-women, men, and trans make more money from ho'ing on the side than from porn films.
