I can't handle stupid people anymore

God, the abrahamic God anyway, reminds me a lot of the abusive drunk husband. Getting drunk then attacking their wife. With believers and the angels who didn't rebel against him acting as the abused spouse.

"you don't understand, he loves me, he only hurts me when I make him mad, I brought it on myself".

God loves you enough to give you salvation through his son Jesus, that way you won't burn for an eternity. You're so blind. You're not the only one blind though. It amazes me how many the devil keep blinded. I won't keep talking in circles.

Going to bed.

Wouldn't have needed salvation from burning for all eternity if God hadn't made that a possibility to begin with.

Carrot and stick approach.

Regardless, good night.

In Abrahamic religion (Christianity to be specific) I think of it this way, God gave me life, which is prescious, so now what?

Something I've always found frustrating... Is that even if I suppose that it's all true. God, Satan, the rebellion, etc.

None of it gives me particular motivation to want to love God. When God seems like a complete asshole. Deliberately putting the tree in the garden to temp Adam and Eve, so he could throw them out when they defied him.

Why put the tree of knowledge there at all? To give humans a choice? Except it's hardly a choice if the options are do as I say, or die.

Then there's the flood.

God's acts like a dick, is it any wonder Satan was not alone in rebelling against him?

How do you really know that you should be on God's side? Seems to me the reason comes down to, "because he said so". Not a very good reason.

God could effortlessly allow us to have a choice, without sadistically hiding himself enough to put doubt in the hearts of reasonable people. But he doesn't. Then after you die, it's too late.

He's a dick..

EDIT: I just wanna clarify something here in case this post comes across the wrong way. I'm not intentionally trying to mock Christians here, nor any individual Christian bluelighters. These are just my honest doubts about Christianity. And frustrations about what it asks people to believe.
I used to think similarly. Humans anthropomorphize, and I think that comes across in ruinous ways.

It's a fool's errand trying to rationalise the elaborate and bizarre mythologies of the Abrahamic religions, they don't make sense and never have. Not that they might not still be true - just to pre-emptively defuse any potential offence caused by such blasphemy - I mean, that's the whole point of faith I guess, belief without proof, or even without any reasonable logical path pointing towards such a belief.

That said I'm not completely opposed to any form of organised religion and I can accept that a lot of them might have valuable moral lessons embedded in all the nonsense, or even unknowable truths about the universe. Obviously they served some purpose to us or they would never have evolved, or stuck around for so long - and in an age that was for the most part pre-rational, where organised, coherent ideas about logical reasoning such that exist today did not yet exist, such elaborate mythology might well have been the best way to program human society with some kind of workable moral value system, even if this system was somewhat flawed. I think it was Jordan Peterson who first made this argument, and although I'm not the biggest fan of his I have to concede that he might have had a point.

But... any attempt at literal interpretation of these fantastical stories in the present day is almost guaranteed to lead to frustration, I think.

All questions have answers its just how far are you willing to go to get them. Take a strong hit of LSD load up that pipe with DMT and take 3 massive lung full hits and you will become one of the most knowledgeable humans to ever walk this planet or end up losing your sanity forever.

Light, love, etc are all false delusions. The hope of a loving ultimate being is a cosmic joke used to really twist our minds. Reality is contained within a void of nothingness there is no light or nothing just the illusion of all. What reality true is at its core nature is evil and suffering a infinite amount of it. New age love crap came about since the 60s since people got confused with dopamine and serotonin stimulation on all the psychedelics making it feel like love or light. There is not ultimate goodness or salvation. We are all fucked and are trapped for infinity in eternal consciousness to suffer forever unless you achieve complete awakening or enlightenment. GOD = evil This a truth that can be experienced if you want to take some hardcore combos and go on that trip. The fabric of creation itself has evil woven into every atom. The nature of reality is what you could call "satanic" there is no goodness at the end all will see the truth once again after your life comes and you just submit in pure terror and fear to the truth that we were created as play toys to suffer for the one malevolent god.

I don't udnerstand what all the hostility is about in this thread, I'm going tor emove some totally off-topic stuff, and it would be nice if people didn't talk down to each other as it pretty much kills any debate and turns into shit-slinging.

I'm just annoyed at people's logic. That is why I longer care to discuss this. It's ridiculous. People will believe what they want.

I mean I could say the same about you. It's true, people will believe what they want. If you're secure in your beliefs that shouldn't be annoying. At this point I think we all need to accept that you're never going to convince people to change their beliefs who have put a lot of thought into their belief structure.

I just don't appreciate being talked to like I'm a blind fool for not believing in Christianity. I grew up Christian, I tried hard to see it as truth but no experience in my life has ever suggested to me that the thing you're saying are at all true, in fact quite the opposite. It's just as offensive to me when people tell me I have put thought or logic into my belief as it is for me to t ell you that you're not thinking clearly and are not using logic for your beliefs. It is offensive, I hope you can see that. It's one thing to express your point and make an attempt to share some insight, it's quite another to repeatedly tell people they're ignorant when they don't accept what you're saying as real.

Even though I'm saying this to you, it applies in general to all people.

God: Hey humans, I love you, so if you disobey my arbitrary commands, play rock music, dress certain ways, etc, I will send you to Hell to suffer horribly for eternity, in my infinite loving wisdom.

People: Ahh that sucks!

God: Well hey, since I love you so much, I'm going to impregnate a human woman (Zeus-style minus the zoophilia aspect), make a son, and then have him horribly murdered, that way you can get into heaven. Even though you could before according to my divinely-inspired text. Maybe now it's easier? I'm not sure, I just to watch humans squirm.

People: Shit god you are one scary motherfucker. Okay we better rape and slaughter all the indigenous people of the world and all other cultures to save them from their heathen religions.

Actually now it makes sense how people justified making other people suffer to "save" them. It's what their god did to his own kid.

The fundamental flaw in the bible is that for the human race to flourish from just two people would involve incest on an unprecedented scale. That always seems to be overlooked...

I open my Catholic bible from time to time. It's a great copy, it has little foot notes throughout Genesis stating that the Church researched this through Jewish hearsay essentially and that Genesis should be taken with a HUGE grain of salt.

Therefore, if you're truly Catholic, you know that Adam and Eve is just a myth and that the book of Genesis is just something to start off the story. The Church knows we cannot know the beginning of time nor humanity.

This thread is intriguing. Had not heard of the ONA @Zopiclone bandit , very interesting group. I love learning about dark cults. I also love learning about Catholicism because most Catholics don't know shit about it and just proves OP's assumption that most people are stupid and that religion plays a part. 99% of Catholics don't know anything about the Catechism of the Catholic Faith.

I'm just annoyed at people's logic...
i expect the irony of that is lost on you but no matter.

assuming all this happened, for the sake of argument, am i the only one who thinks that jesus' sacrifice was pretty mundane? the deal is he gets crucified- undoubtedly a painful way to go - but, in return, he gets to sit at god's right hand in heaven for eternity and atone for the sins of all mankind. no brainer right?

God loves you enough to give you salvation through his son Jesus...
but only just enough? what kind of love is that? conditional love. i'm sure many know how that typically works out. doesn't sound like love to me...

alasdair

So what's their excuse for rampant paedophilia? ;)
I couldn't say.

I'm not saying I believe in the Church, I'm saying that if you read Church dogma, it's much different from what Catholics as a whole believe in.

And I've met my fair share of good priests who want to help humanity and are as close to altruistic as can be. The ongoing joke that all priests are pedos really needs to die.

And priests should be permitted marriage so they can get tail too, it only brings you closer to God. My wife's pussy is probably the closest I've ever been to experiencing the infinite ;) or rather, her pussy when I'm peaking on LSD. Now THAT is getting to know God :p

Careful mate, describing your wife's pussy as 'infinite' might get taken the wrong way...
